Pushing up his cap a little, Calem glanced over at where the sleeping bull was laying.

"The path to hell is paved with good intentions and all that. Sometimes people will look for someone to blame no matter what you do for them."

He wondered if the man was really that positive or just stupid.

Well, Calem wasn't really here to make friends with a Gym Leader, anyway. He'd only come from Kanto because Cillian Quinn had requested him.

"You might meet someone whose not so willing to forgive, you know. Hope you're ready for that."

The Hypnosis is ineffective.

Shadows crawl and writhe like nightmares, creeping towards the Ninetails with a Night Shade.

"Broken habits are always sure to come back in your moments of weakness... it's why you've always got to be careful."

A stray shadow lashes at Cillian Quinn's foot.

"One bad day and you're smoking again after swearing them off."

Then, because Calem was an asshole, and not in a fun way.

"It just seems real convenient is all I'm saying. It doesn't help during the war, then it picks someone determined to make it look good..."

"Apologies."

Calem smiles like he means it but doesn't bother to hide his fangs.

This was the son of the man who taught Chu-e how to cause pain, after all.

"Old habits just die so hard."

Another whistle. The setup time is done for now.

A Psychic ripples across the field, cracking ground, like an invisible force headed right for the Ninetails.

Despite the surrender, the Arcanine goes in for a Fire Fang. Calem's pokemon didn't show things like 'mercy'.

But, before it can land, the fire dog is returned to her pokeball. No sense in causing too much of a scene here.

"Could be." He replies, still friendly. "What do you think it says about you that it picked you? And it's so lazy?" It was asked as if it was genuine.

"Don't worry! I didn't!"

The Arcanine kicked it into high gear with an Extreme Speed. She tried to use the flinch to her advantage to crash into the bug and stop their race.

"I hear that Bulu is really lazy. Especially compared to the other Tapu! Is that true?"

The smile that stretches wider on his face is practically a snarl. It's ugly.

"A little."

A sharp whistle, high and familiar.

Two can play the setup game. The Xatu is still as a statue, only a faint glow of the eyes to show it had done anything.

When Calem spots Cillian Quinn, it's with much too cheery a wave in return that he approaches.

The officer's costume much look warped to someone who knows what's really underneath.

"Calem!" A pokeball is unclipped from his hip, a Xatu tossed out.

It seems menacing in it's stillness. A Future Sight is readied.

"Have we met before? You look miiiighty familiar."

The Arcanine chased after it's new prey, teeth gleaming as she tried to Crunch into the bug type's shell.

"Calem! Nice to meet you, Mr. Ramsay." He just smiled as his eyes followed his pokemon almost lazily as they engaged in their Tom and Jerry chase.

"You have the sleepy bull as a partner, right? From the merch?"

The baton was tossed in the air and caught. Both for word-count and for a show of dexterity with the weapon.

"You're that Gym Leader, right?"

Another whistle and his Arcanine snarled, super Intimidating, before charging forward wreathed in a Flame Wheel. This guy didn't know how to wait.

A policeman's baton was being twirled in Calem's hand as he walked down the beach. The officer's uniform was just a hair too tight.

Didn't stop him from pointing his baton Zac Ramsay while chirping on his whistle.

"Citizen!" A pokeball was tossed out, revealing an aged Arcanine.

"Battle?"
