if only uri was more insightful in general, then maybe he could've figured out why sol liked princesses so much. but he wasn't, and so, he appreciated the explanation.

he smiled, warm as she rested her head against his shoulder.

"i think i must've seen this movie at least ten times."

the whole 'sit around and wait for prince charming' trope never fit someone like sol. but then again, it's still valid to like them while disliking some of the values they wrongly portray.

she gently slaps his cheek, snapping him out of it.

her affirmation brings with it a smile.

"cool."

and after a few buttons, the movie switches to enchanted.

at her question, he nods as enthusiastic as one would expect a little girl to be when talking about princesses. his face lights up in a smile, practically beaming as he turns his body towards her.

her warning is heeded, but he still pushes his luck.

"i'm not making fun of you...i just think it's really cute."

he reaches a hand up to her cheek, pinching gently.

"wanna watch it, princess?"

oh shit. maybe he should've gone for a more formal greeting. well, it's too late to change his 'yo' to a 'hello' now, so there's no point dwelling on it.

"nah, nothing bad...i just started dating my captain so i had to leave. plus, i've always wanted to be a cop, so it seemed like good timing."

uri snaps his hand out to catch the empty box of staples, holding it for moments as he contemplates tossing it back.

"why are you doing shitty police work? aren't you the CHAMP?"

it's a broad question because, honestly, there are far too many romcoms to pick from; even from the ones he's seen.

"hmm, i think my top three are the princess bride, enchanted, and the forty-year-old virgin."

he turns to look at her, ignoring the movie for now.

"have you seen any of them?"

which, honestly, he really loves watching, but he's not sure if he's ever told sol as much. she could probably guess given how foolishly romantic he can be at times.

his luxray purrs, leaning his head against sol's leg as he drifts off to sleep.

he reaches for his beer, sipping idly while the movie plays in front of them. realizing he can't shake a particular thought, he sighs, then asks:

"do you like romcoms?"

the pout soon disappears, unable to weather the warmth that comes from her presence next to him. he leans into her, bumping shoulders before smiling.

"an action movie it is."

his luxray follows, hopping up onto the couch next to sol, away from uri for whatever reason. stinky cat.

after pressing a few buttons on the remote, a movie is played.

his pout only grows at her words. he leans in even more, kissing her neck before peering up at her.

"i'll be good. i promise."

but he soon steps away as his luxray practically steals her away from him. he sighs, walking over to the fridge to get them more drinks before heading over to the couch.

"what do you wanna watch?"

quick enough to react, uri snaps at the thrown gummy bear, chewing with a smirk as he reaches for her hand.

"you don't wanna cuddle with me?"

for her, he pouts, but pulls out a pokeball soon after to tap it against his leg.

his luxray emerges free, and the moment he materializes, he's bounding over to sol to brush his head against her.

"guess he missed you a lot."

as stubborn and defiant as uri usually is, this time he was actually just being playful. maybe he should've chosen something else other than vodka gummies to be playful with, however, as he's slowly starting to feel them kicking in.

"aw, you're so sweet."

he smirks in return, standing up to walk over to her. he leans down to kiss her cheek.

"so, wanna watch a movie?"

he rolls his eyes, defiant in the way he stands his ground, chewing on vodka-infused gummy bears as though they were regular ones. he swallows, feeling nothing coming of it just yet.

but they'll hit him eventually.

"but even if i did, i know you'd take care of me."

"nah. if i throw him one then i gotta throw one for all the others."

which sounds fun, all things considered, but definitely too much work and effort.

at her comment, uri scoops a handful of gummy bears into his palm, holds them up, and tosses all of them into his mouth, as if meeting a challenge she never even voiced.

"will i?"

a slight pout forms when he watches sol bite off a frankenbear head, leaving the rest of its sugary body intact. it seems awfully cruel to take away its head.

"can you taste the secret ingredient?"

his lips curl into a smirk as he tosses another gummy bear into his mouth.

"it's vodka."
