A trip to the country, how quaint. Fortunately, Toni already had business out here to attend to. Before the opportune moment strikes, she takes the opportunity to explore what else Hoenn has to offer.

It’s a lush region, more so than Sinnoh. The weather is well-suited for the cultivation of a plethora of crops. Just outside of the flower city of Oldale, is a route with a Berry Farm. A small fee gives you a basket and allows you to pick whatever berries you may like. It’s not her normal form of entertainment, far from it, but it promises to pass the time in this small, wretched town, until dusk and she starts her hunt.

A Shinx bounces along at her feet down a particularly lonely row of berry trees, “Ah, Oran Berries, your favorite,” she grins, reaching high to pluck one off the tree for the Shinx.

ANA STONE
MISSION

The release of the Zangoose undoubtedly caught her attention. A predator that hunted predators – just like her. A smile curls across her lips at the sight of the pokemon. She can’t help but admire it’s unique features that made it a worthy hunter, “Very nice,” she compliments. Along with the smile, it shows the neutrality has shifted to approval . . . for now.

“We hunt them” she says simply, casting her gaze back over the open field towards the trees, “They aren’t use to being hunted, especially not here,” Oldale is a quiet, simple town. They made their home here because there is little threat to them and plenty to eat. The pokemon that surround the small village aren’t typically overtly aggressive. It’s an easy place to make home for a pack of wolves.

An arm curves in a circles, indicating a wide path around the flock, “We need to get downwind, like they are,” The Mightyena are undoubtedly getting ready to hunt the Mareep, “Flush them into a trap, perhaps, she taps her chin, “A set of Electrowebs might do the trick,” her gaze turns back towards Reyes. She may as well use him if he’s here anyway, “Think you can handle the flushing while I set the traps?” Perhaps his Charizard will come in handy.

The beer bottle stops short of her lips that curl into a smile. A subtle shake of her head accompanies the grin, “Don’t get my hopes up,” she corrects before continuing to finish the beer. The empty bottle hangs lightly in her fingers, “I’m gambling right now,” a hand vaguely motions towards the fighting ring, “Something a little more . . . interesting wouldn’t hurt,” she’s growing bored of this place.

KING WAYLAND
MISSION

Unfortunately, Hoenn seems to be a land of interruptions. Toni pauses as the quiet growl from the Houndour’s throat catches her attention. The pup is the first to notice Reyes’s approach. She’s already half turned towards him as he approaches.

There’s a moment of silence after her speaks. A single finger pulls the sunglasses down the bridge of her nose, letting sharp brown eyes slowly trace the ‘partner’ up and down. She isn’t one to hide her judgement. The neutral expression doesn’t give much away. She’s indifferent at his appearance which is better than unimpressed or repelled, “Toni, nice to meet you,” is all she responds, reluctantly accepting a partner.

In a quick motion, the sunglasses are pushed up and she turns back towards the field, crouching beside the dark-type, “Houndour has tracked them here. I think they’re beyond the tree line there,” a hand motions out across the field. Between them and the tree line is the flock of Mareep. Hunters could be so predictable sometimes.

She stands, cocking her head to glance towards Reyes, “What pokemon do you have with you?”

Just outside the adorably quaint town of Oldale, a pack of Mightyena has been running around, terrorizing not only their livestock, but also pissing all over their prized flowers and killing them. Naturally, the people of the town are upset. There’s a great debate between the people. Fight them off and let them do their wild dog thing, or catch and relocate them.

Ultimately, the later won.

Toni is quick to ‘volunteer’ for the job. Whenever she could openly poach some pokemon with little suspicion she’s on it. The Houndour at her feet sniffs the air carefully, using ODOR SLEUTH to catch on to the pack’s scent. Hungry brown eyes peer out at the large stretch of grassy field lined by forest from behind dark sunglasses. A small flock of Mareep graze peacefully, “We’re close,” she smiles in delight, a satisfied grin tugging at the corner of her pink lips.

As long as there were no interruptions, things should go quite smoothly.

Another Shinx to add to the collection. Hopefully this one wouldn’t be a useless prick like Willlow. Toni sneers at the thought, tucking the pokeball away into her pack as she moves forward into the dark.

It’s quite some time before they come across another promising target. The pale yellow sparks of the Elektrike flash through the darkness, cluing the Gliscor above onto it’s target. The canine had been hunting too. The shadow of limp Rattata could be seen hanging from its jaws.

The hunter has become the hunted.

In a similar technique, the Gliscor dives form above, striking with it poisoned barb at the pup. A sharp yelp breaks the silence of the night. The Rattata flies from its mouth and a Safari Ball launches towards the target. Gliscor snaps his jaws, stalking towards the discarded prey and consuming it himself.

A single scoff make her scowl smooth out into a more neutral look. A curious glance is spared towards King. She’s no longer interested in the fight; she knows the outcome. It isn’t in her favor.

“I'm up for quite a bit, King” She grins, relaxing back into the steel of the bench, one elbow resting on it beside her. A thumb habitually twirls one of the gold rings lining her fingers.

Doomed? Maybe. But winning this little fight isn’t a priority, “So you’re a gambling man then,” Toni is terrible at gambling, but she certainly enjoys the thrill of it.

MISSION

“Hmph,” she still looks up at him with suspicion despite the small smile tugged at the corner of her lips. The mystery is intriguing. Caden knew how to play the game well. Must have come from years of listening to her bitch about it.

The warm evening breeze is nothing compared to the warmth of his hand over hers. There’s a familiar comfort that has also come from years of their back and forth. Toni easily settles into pace with him, long legs matching his stride despite the heels of the boots that clicked rhythmically against the concrete.

Patience, “Ugh,” her eyes roll rather dramatically, “We both know I’m terribly impatient,” Her lips twist into a frown, knowing he’d likely force her to be patient.

After a moment of consideration, she shrugs her shoulders lightly, “I could wait. Why?” she leans closer, attempting to peek at his phone for a clue.

OUTFIT

Mancured fingers delicately pluck the pokeball off the ground. A quick inspection sparks a small grin before tucking the prize away. Nothing impressive, but it’s another feline to add to her growing pack of hunters. Speaking of which . . .

A hand runs over the smooth exoskeleton of the Gliscor, praising him for his work. Not too much, though. The night isn’t over yet and that wasn’t anything too impressive.

Another subtle rustle in the brush catches both of their attention. With the cigarette hung loosely in her lips, she motions form the Gliscor to remain. Silent steps bring her around the back. A lunge into the brush scares the Shinx forward and right into the Gliscor’s Poisonous jab. The Shinx shudders, impaled by the barbs before falling to the ground.

Toni debates wasting a pokeball on the feline . . . but ultimately, she decides it’s worth it. A sphere falls from her hand, cracking open against the Shinx and drawing it inside.

Toni couldn’t help but laugh and shake her head at the sight of the Shinx letting the stranger pluck her off her perch on the tree, “Wow, you must be somethin’ special to let her do that,” she teases with a grin. The brunette graciously accepts the Shinx, tucking her snuggly into the crook of her arm. Snuggly is an understatement. Toni’s frustration manifest through a rather aggressive grip.

Let me buy you one

“Hm,” Toni lifts a wrist to check the time on her watch, “I’d love to but . . .” Would she really love to? Probably not . . . but he didn’t need to know that, “I have brunch reservations I’m late for,” the same hand moves to scratch the Shinx affectionately between the ears, “Perhaps some other time?” she spins on her heels to continue her journey. Something makes her pause. Gratitude, “Thank you, Onyx,” she says genuinely, casting one last look over her shoulders, “Have a nice day,” with a small grin she continues on her way to her reservation, Shinx in hand thanks to the heroic @onyx.

The eye roll in response isn’t subtle. Typical Caden, always flattering her even when she doesn’t deserve it. Secretly, she relishes in it and appreciates him for it. Toni loves the attention, after all.

With a soft smile, her arms slips into the crook of his, almost too easily, “Just a stroll?” her dark eyes are suspicious, showing the same doubt in her half smile. Something tells her Caden has more up his tailored sleeve than just a stroll. That would be a terrible reason to switch shifts at work.

She also hopes it’s not just a stroll through the city. She’d be immensely disappointed if it is.

The grip on his arm tightens as the two beautiful people walk through the hotel’s beautiful lobby and towards the streets of Slateport. A rush of the warm, evening summer air brushes her hair back, only for it to gracefully fall into place, framing her face, “Why don’t you tell me what you really have planned,” her voice is soft and look playful, but there’s still a command in there, somewhere, if you sift between the letters.
