A ranger must always be prepared and in shape. Same goes for their partners. And Oliver was assigned Josh as his partner for this training montage and testosterone fueled challenge. No Pokemon moves, no flight. But both must have a Pokemon join them. Ollie's Dragonite was up for such tasks, not always wanting to rely on being in flight all the time. And so the duo was waiting for Josh to show up. What he didn't expect was the man showing up with his own Dragonite. "Sup? When did you get this guy?" The punk ranger smiled warmly and pointed at the other dragon.

The redhead's Dragonite also waved quite friendly at the other dragon and at Josh. He was as ready as his trainer to climb the steps and be the best that he can be. Rumor had it that this was timed, and pairs were showing off their times. Not that Oliver or his orangey companion cared. They were as ready as can be, and just waited on Josh's confirmation to start the tread up the mountain.

Oliver's Breloom's been acting out again. What would it take to get the Pokemon to obey him more? Maybe showing him that he didn't just let his Pokemon do all the work would do it. The only reason he really had Dragonite with him was for traveling, but this was decidedly not a mission where either his good buddy or his problem child were going to interfere. This was a Ranger mission. And he evidently had a firecracker for a partner on this one. Cross-training and/or burrowing rangers from other sections were not uncommon, even in his home region of Johto. Either way, this should be fun.

The red and black haired punk ranger waited by the east gate of Lavaridge Town with Breloom sulking behind him at being dragged to this shindig. As a young lady he recognized came up, he gave a friendly wave. "Good morning~" The young man wore the standard ranger uniform, though he also had a fair share of ear piercings. "I'm Cadet Oliver Shrakes. I take it you're Shalin Nariya? Ready to hunt down that Ninetales?" It had been a while since he had to hunt down a dangerious Pokemon without the use of his buddies, but after Mt. Pyre and the meteor, he needed to stay in shape so if the big boss of Rocket ever appears before him and they get into a brawl themselves, he'll take down the old man.

Man that guy looked too arrogant. And he was getting very close. Then, due to his wrong guess, and Spatial Rend was blasted at him. Way too close for Dragonite to dodge...but his Bastiodon, as if sensing what was going on, burst out of its pokeball and tried to use Endure. But there wasn't enough time to use it...but its body was enough to stop the attack on himself and Dragonite. Both himself and Dragonite saluted their fallen comrade, and continued towards the Primal Point, within eyesight at this point. Rocket and League alike were attacking the new threat. That said a lot to him, but he waited for now. Until the Point launched. Though both he and his Dragonite was forced back from a close attack from the Palkia and another attack.

He barely caught a glimpse of the Rayquaza shattering what was left of it. And the dome went with it. That odd psychic Pokemon ought to be happy now. Hopefully he'll see it again and wish it luck. From where he saw, a rift formed, and those that died, Pokemon and human alike, gathered near where the point once was. Oliver even saw his Bastiodon. His steel type flew through him, and back into its mangled body. He watched as his buddy revived. Olie walked over and hugged his big headed buddy. "You reckless fool...thank you, but don't do that again." The ranger shed a few tears as he spoke his words. But there was more to do here. Returning his Bastiodon, he turned to find Father Winter with blood on his chin, and Palkia injured. It looked like he was trying to retreat. Oh no you don't.

"Dragonite, Hyper Beam. Take out both him and his Unown." With a brief charge, Dragonite fired his most powerful attack. And he wasn't the only one doing so.

TLDR
Bastiodon broke out of Pokeball and took the hit. Died.
Bastiodon also revived.
Oliver is by Primal Point, sees things.
Orders Dragonite to use Hyper Beam on Father Winter and Palkia, trying to kill them.

Oliver had moved up, but was in hiding for now. Taking out some potions and healing items, he was treating his Braviary. That Incinoroar was tough, and he got cut off! Better heal up one of his oldest buddies, then use the other one to cut off that guy and finish their fight. His radio cackled about the time limit before the points launch. Five minutes...they gotta stall them for five minutes...that's one hell of an ask. But then...a dimensional tear appeared. And out came...a man? Who the hell was this guy? A new form of a legendary also showed up, while the figure boasted about having tamed it. Some blah blah blah about other realities and asking them about saving their's. Well duh? What kind of question was that? A bit selfish, yeah, probably, but who wants to die?

Huffing, he did indulge in the crazy man as he returned his buddy in his pokeball, hoping that the potions will do their job in time. "If you got good ears, I choose heads." Taking out his Dragonite, he moved closer to the point by air, hoping to cut off his earlier opponent or another Rocket member...maybe even the boss himself. That new Pokemon was a huge worry...he didn't know what it was. But if nothing else, it took a great deal to make Oliver afraid. Into the radio, he called out to anyone that can listen. "Did everyone hear that? Five minutes is what we need to stall. That meteor may be much larger now, but if this plan works, it won't matter much. We can do this guys, we just need to hold out for five minutes!"


TLDR
Oliver heals Braviary.
He returns Braviary and brings out Dragonite.
He moves fast towards the Primal Point to defend it.
He guesses Heads to indulge the man.
Calls out the radio to tell people that they need to hold out for five minutes, and that they can do this!

The man avoided his blows, and pushed him with his foot. It was enough for Ollie to lose his footing, but after a couple of hops, he was fine. Walking towards the guy, he stopped a mere five feet away, waiting for the guy to make the next move while their Pokemon went at it. This Rocket member seemed pretty good at countering attacks, but will he go on the offensive? The red head was planning on finding out, and curb his own enthusiasm. Somewhat. He also wasn't completely afraid to go after Pokemon himself. He threw his Baton as hard as he could at the Incinoroar just past the Rocket member...

Braviary missed, which meant no recoil damage. But that was fine. The big birb twisted and Slashed at the fire kitty. Hoping for a powerful hit, the Braviary did take the Darkest Lariat. Doing a back flip, Braviary slid on the ground, then flaped his wings to go back in the air. They were closer to their trainers now...and seemed like his own trainer tried to get the Kitty's attention...

TLDR
Oliver gets pushed back. Walks up to Dorian and stares him down.
Throws his Baton at Incineroar.
Braviary misses Brave Bird, gets hit by Darkest Lariat, Slashes at the same time.

Oliver cut him off. Not that he would give the guy an answer. He was sure neither of them had time for that. Again, Oliver darted towards the Rocket member with a stab with his baton. Then a punch to the face, and swipe with the baton at the knee. Forget any talking and taunts, Oliver focused on the fight at hand. Besides, if nothing else, he's keeping one Rocket preoccupied with him. No banter, just combat.

While the Braviary was hit with the Drain Punch, it wasn't enough to bring the birb down. Braviary shook off the singes, and recklessley dived towards the Incinoroar with Brave Bird. Not exactly a last ditch effort, but it would do some recoil. All they were doing at this point was trading blows. But hopefully this will be the last one for this round. Right now, it was anyone's guess which one will end up on top.

TLDR
Oliver jabs with the Baton, punches to the face, then goes for a knee shot with the Baton.
Braviary takes the Drain Punch.
Braviary uses Brave Bird.

The man was good enough to avoid his swing and catch his wrist. Most would usually just let it go. He also evidently had a good enough footing that even the kick to the shin didn't make him drop to a knee. His opponent did throw a punch at his abdoman, but Ollie caught it with his free hand, though even he could tell the guy was quite muscular just from that blow. The red head had a habit of going after the trainers while his Pokemon attacked their's, so he could take his licks, but the force of that did make him think twice about wanting to take a hit. Twisting his body to face his opponent, Oliver tried to pull the man with him back so he could plant his foot in the gut and toss him away. If it failed, well, he would do a backwards roll in a ready stance.

Braviary took the Flamethrower. That was the risk of Sky Attack. But it was ready. With burning energy whirling around the birb to make it look almost like a Moltres, it cut through the flames to try to hit the Alola starter. After a short twirl and the energy dissipating, Braviary was ready to go at it again. Those flames still hurt though, and while Braviary wasn't burned, it still took a good chunk of damage.

TLDR
Oliver blocked the midsection punch, attempts a backward roll toss.
Braviary finished charging, and attacked with Sky Attack, taking the Flamethrower as well.
