Lightly so, she chuckles, because as much as it may definitely add to the pressure, there’s no denying that she’s also enjoying it quite a lot. It’s fun to do this sort of thing with him, and Lia finds herself a little surprised to realize this given how she usually can’t stand cooking.

At the mention of him cooking for her, she turns to meet his gaze, smirking too.

She doesn’t ask, because the answer seems obvious enough: probably since his wife.

What she does do instead is turn to look up at him, offering a slight smirk.

”Oh, I’m really feeling the pressure now, thanks.”

Then, just like that, she goes back to working on their meal; allowing the pasta to cook once the water has boiled, all while working on the sauce.

An eyebrow is raised when seeing Lance give the Stufful a treat despite her warnings, but she can’t help but chuckle. Since, really… it’s kind of adorable.

”Now he’s going to follow you everywhere, don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
[break][break]
Lia smirks at him, taking her jacket off in order to be more comfortable. Her hair is tied up in a ponytail, and after washing her hands, she finally begins to prepare the sauce for their pasta.

And of course, just as she warned, the Stufful soon follows after Lance.

Which is exactly why he was able to come to greet them in the first place. On the bright side, he didn’t seem to make too much of a mess in the apartment while she was away… This time, at least.

”I’m just making pasta, but if you want you can put water in the kettle and what not, while I prepare the ingredients for the sauce.”

At least something like that shouldn’t take long, and she's quick to turn her attention to setting everything up.

Meanwhile, the Stufful paws at Lance’s leg, persistent as ever.

Aside from heavily-stocked bookshelves and a few framed prints, there’s nothing that should particularly stand out about Lia’s apartment. All of the pictures that could decorate the place, all of diplomas and awards; all of those things remain in a box by her desk, because even to this day she hasn’t been able to bring herself to sort through it after moving.

It’s too painful.

And so, the apartment remains somewhat ordinary, and with little signs that she’s the one inhabiting it.

Aside from, of course, things like the small Stufful that wanders into the kitchen once they make their way there, causing Lia to roll her eyes when it looks up at them.

”He’s here to beg for food, don’t give in no matter how adorable he is.”

She chuckles, heading for the fridge as she considers what to make.

No, there’s nothing slow about this at all.

It’s fast without even considering everything Lance has been through, and the mere thought of it makes her heart race in equal parts excitement and anxiety. It’s fast, and nice, and she enjoys it a lot, but there are also one too many concerns.

Concerns that, as per usual, Lia all too easily pushes aside the moment he takes her hand.

She gives him a soft smile, making her way out of the mall.

Lia rolls her eyes at his words, but even then, there’s a soft smile. Light pink hues colour her cheeks, and she tries to pay this no mind as she goes to the register and finally has to exchange more than a couple of words with the staff. The dresses are paid for, and once they’re finally out of the store, she turns to look at Lance.

She could look at her watch to check how late it is, but she doesn't bother with it.

This time she does go back to the fitting room without delay and when coming back out, she’s wearing her ranger uniform once again. Still cute, but definitely not nearly as nice as any of the dresses.

Whatever the store’s staff may think when watching them is of no consequence to Lia. She should care, and she probably would under different circumstances, but it’s hard to focus on anything else when Lance is right here next to her – kissing her cheek and saying things like these.

But, she does care about the thought of eating dinner together, and eating in general, even if she doesn’t want this to end.

How many hours has it been since her last meal?

”We should probably go before the mall closes… I still need to pay for the dresses and I bet the store is closing soon.”

She doesn't show it off in public, at least, but of course she won't mention this.

Lia’s life has been much different from his, and in a way, it could even be said that she never even experienced hardship until recently. But, she understands, or at least she tries to understand, and that’s why she tells herself not to push: to let him go about things at a pace he’s comfortable with.

Is she even patient enough for all that?

She tells herself not to dwell on it, a sigh leaving her before stepping outside of the fitting room with a smile. This time, the dress she’s wearing is teal – the last of the ones he chose for her.
