vesper played with the cigarette between her teeth, smoke seeping up toward the roof as they walk. each step is lax, but not apathetic. she's a job to do and she'll do it well. but she's so go with the flow as a person, that she doesn't even think twice about taking it easy on their way.

"...what if it's like, people just, banging?"

"or worse, bunch of dumbass grunts tryin' ta take some free drugs?"

that one really wouldn't surprise her. she glances to her partner, assigned to the task with her.

remembering names early in the morning was hard enough for vesper without being dead tired for nearly drowning the day before. so needless to say, the name that comes from her lips as she hears allrianne's voice speaking over, and over, is one that was made up on the spot while her brain is trying to wake up.

post-pissing, she walks over while wiping her hands on a leaf and looking up at where allrianne is pointing. she lifts a hand up, not touching her forehead, but to shade the morning light from her eyes. she's squinting regardless and then shrugs, realizing that allrianne said she had seen not that she was currently seeing.

"cool, thanks ari."

with that slur of a nickname falling form her lips, she makes her way back in and takes some of the breakfast and sat down where she had been sleeping previously.

"nothing like breakfast in bed."

she tries not to make a show of trying to get the meat chewed and swallowed without hassle.

while most might not have been able to sleep soundly with a job like vesper's, she's been doing the job since she could remember. she helped her uncle clean up crime scenes and just took on the hale family mantel when he passed away. just because, she had no other real talents.

needless to say the fact that she was on a deserted island with a woman that might kill her given the right price hadn't really bothered her. sleep was important for function and admittedly vesper loves sleep more than life itself. because of that, she slipped into it soundly almost every night with no fuss.

unless of course she had too much coffee or drank a coffee too late...but with no coffee, she had both no motivation to get up and little hesitation in falling asleep the night before.

the sound of plucking or the movement of pokémon wasn't even what woke her, it was a feeling. a feeling that made her sit up from sleep and groggily make her way outside of the cave with a yawn.

she need to piss.

she was going to sleep, and the alone was so clear in her tone that vesper had winced at it. yikes, alright.

was that going to stop her from flirting her ass off? nope. allrianne could literally stab vesper through the heart and vesper would just smile and say, 'well, it's yours to do what you want with,' and then probably wink before dying in her arms. romantic? maybe.

vesper's first language is body, second language is flirting, and third is not giving a fuck.

vesper was all about making money. logical explanations to things that made her make less money always made her frown. that idea included.

but! she wants to stay positive, so she watches as allrianne gets comfortable and she glances at her lack of pokémon that can help her get comfortable.

and then to allrianne's chest cause those looked like comfy pillows.

she sighs, gives up, and just lays flat on the ground, determining that it's comfortable even though it sure as fuck is not.

"i mean, i'll always hold out hope for ridiculous things, random boat rescues included. but you're right, taming a pokémon that can get us safely to the nearest shore is a better option."

basically?

"so, i'm in." she turns her head to look at allrianne with a grin. "just tell me what ta do boss, i'm all ears."

sounded dangerous, she's down. vesper shows as much with a smug kind of smirk and eyes that seek adrenaline. there's a thrill unlike any other in adrenaline. she loves it. from surfing to skydiving, it's something she's always loved.

no stopping her even on an island of fossil pokémon. speaking of...

"the whole island, you think all it's got is fossil pokémon?"

because if so? damn, what a catch! namely if league archeologists didn't have their grimy hands in it yet.

"fetch a pretty price if that's the case. i mean, survival first obviously, but getting an upper hand on them like that? fossil pokémon that wouldn't need revived?"

all vesper can see is money signs.

oh, so now allrianne was curious about what she was doing? well, vesper had just been steadily moving rocks round so who could blame the redhead, right?

"lookin' for--" vesper clicks her tongue against the roof of her mouth. "bingo," she holds out the flintrock. "now to try and find a piece of metal lying around from a steel they and we'll be good to go. or, just another flintrock.

and then she glances at the fucking lava fire lizard and her brows furrow, her lips form a thin line, and she lets out a laugh at herself.

"you've got a fucking salazzle and salandit and i'm looking for a flintrock!!"

well, that and gemstones from sableye's but y'know.

vesper had gotten the hell outta dodge is what vesper had done. she even decided to scope out a bit. when she heard the howl, she stopped and looked back. then made her way further out toward the entrance of the cave.

allrianne's shape comes into view and vesper takes moment to commit the picture to memory. for however long it'll last. hopefully until the night after she gets back to land and civilization for ... y'know, reasons.

"cave's clear." she tells allrianne while pushing a rock toward one of the more clear areas. "far as i can tell, some zubat, woobats, and geodudes but, i'm sure they won't wanna mess with your bitch there."

she doesn't mean the bitch comment as a knock, that's just what she came to call female dogs... too many years addicted to canine pokémon shows, y'know?

vesper doesn't even fucking give rian time to tell her twice, or barely time to have told her the once. she bolts for the hill, moving up it, gripping what she can to keep her pace faster than what's happening.

big pokémon were not something she cared for. battles between giant dinosaurs, or dragons? yeah, no, count her out. perhaps that's why she didn't have a mount. that among other things. but mostly? they were fucking terrifying alright?

give her a teleporting alien any day but something to fly or ride on? fuck that shit, she's out.

the grip to her hand was hint enough to start running, so she doesn't cause rian to lag at all. she's full sprint and although she seems aloof, the girl works out okay, so she can at least run. after all, gotta be limber to clean up some crazy hard to reach shit, y'know? sure. that and make a quick get away just in case.

"fuck... dinos?"

the scene that unfolds causes vesper to keep a hand at the ready with her muk's pokéballs. she taps the premier ball, then the great ball. a way to keep the two from growing lax, a way to tell them that they might be called upon.

because even if she's a one woman show, which is totally fine all the more power to her, vesper isn't an idiot and she doesn't rely on other people fully. relationships are fifty percent one person and fifty percent the other. and even more so, her life is one hundred percent her own burden, so she's not about to share that load with rian.

who kinda dislikes her and that's about ninety percent of the reason vesper's not sure she'll survive if she doesn't hold her own...

while vesper might not have been a pokéwhisperer, she knew what a snout lower and a growl meant. it meant to back the fuck up and not keep walking. so she stops walking and watches the area that the lycanroc has pointed out as dangerous.

"if you don't want to send out your pokémon, i can send out mine to scout."

muks could minimize and move along the most curious of places... like lungs and esophaguses but shh.

either way, whatever remains in the woods is enough of a cause of concern. she doesn't want to poke a bear, so to speak. either rian or the danger ahead. this was her way of saying that regardless of her mouth, or her chipper attitude, vesper knew very well that she was not in charge of this situation.
