Soaked through to the bone, he knew he wasn’t going to stop running… or quickly walking—around the festivities.

(At least there was no sign yet of his siblings, who knew they were such big tosspots? Boo.)

Anyway, the dunk tank definitely had his attention, and soaking wet he knew he couldn’t hit the side of a barn with a baseball even if he tried, so flailing around like an idiot he picked up the closest thing he could chuck and threw it as hard as his dank skinny arms could manage.

Who knew it was going to take something like this to lure a certain shut-in out of the house?

Well, it wasn’t Canalave, but it was as close as possible to ‘home’ as he was going to get…

Now the problem was…

Hiding from his siblings. URIAH BLACK mostly.

Anyway…

He saw the Mantine floating around, and while he didn’t know the concept or the logic behind it, he decided to take one out for a spin and see what trick he’d come up with…

…of course, just like all kids wanted he was going to make as big of a splash as possible.

Now that the door was open, well—

The sight that greeted him was one that was, well, beyond anything he was expecting.

Seeing that nobody else was talking, he decided to go first.

“What d’you think?” were the first words out of his mouth, before gesturing to the obviously-missing arm. “Is it wrong for some of us to worry about what you’ve been doing?”

He then crossed his arms over his chest. He was pretty sure that Gabrielle was going to remark otherwise, but there you have it.

At the crack about the Snorlax, he grinned.

“So what’s gonna happen if say, you get the Snorlax? Or the Munchlax? I know they eat practically everything in sight so good luck finding anything that’ll keep their attention on you long enough!”

He’s seen it happen before: Munchlax stuck to the strange trees back home, where they would spread the honey in a very thin layer to attract them (and other Pokémon) and due to them being greedy, well…

“Have you ever seen a Munchlax stuck to a tree?” he cackled, handing his older sister one of the jars of honey once they were close enough to the two adjacent trees.

He would’ve preferred to stay inside his room—hell, staying inside the house would’ve been the best course of action for he who had ‘the cursed name’, the butt of jokes—

However…

Have one sister come at you and ask extremely nicely to come along with, to the hospital—wait. The hospital?

The last thing he remembered saying was ‘Just let me bring my laptop along…’

And so smash-cut to Evergrande, where they all were, and him trying to catch Gabrielle, trying to tell her to slow down but hell she was a girl on a mission!

“Sis, what the f—hell!” he caught himself in time.

“You went so fast—you left everyone else behind, good grief,” he breathed out a few moments later, bent over double to stabilize himself. Yikes. He… really should get out of the house more often…

“Where is everyone else, anyway? What happened to… the ol’ man, d’you know?”

Okay so this was new.

There were—there were Snorlax? Right here?

But the only variant he’d ever encountered were the smaller ones, the Munchlaxes… but then he was advised against catching one because they were greedy-ass shits and practically ate whoever owned one out of house and home!

“Well…”

He sighed, wondering if this region was really driving him to go out of the house more often.

At least he’d had some egg over rice, with just a little bit of soy sauce, mixed in and let the heat of the rice cooking the raw egg—well, eggs were generally safe to eat raw where they’d originally came from, so…

“Ugh.”

He caught sight of the Snorlaxes that were sleeping, blocking the road, and now he wished he had a Pokéflute to try to wake one of these behemoths up, at least…

Were the jars of honey really this big? Or was he just misremembering things?

He was pretty certain they were smaller than this… and that they could use the jars only once per tree, so…

“Naw, you’re good,” he said once he’d caught up with her. “Although I wonder if there’s going to be like, a Munchlax or something. Or a Burmy. But who knows what’s coming out of the tree?”

At the mention of it being a while, he nodded.

“Yeah… way too long. And I was still shorter than this, couldn’t even reach halfway up the tree!” he remembered with a snort. What, it was true!

Normally, Siri would stay within his room most of the time, glued to his computer setup and doing most of his shit online.

However, there were rumors flying around of a certain weird Pokémon that caught his fancy—and so he’d ventured out of the Black abode on the back of his Noivern.

…why did it have to be out in the water?! And why was it so far away from Slateport?!

Well, at least he was getting ‘fresh air’ (as his annoying siblings termed it), flying out and tracking the location of this strange Pokémon via his smart watch…

“…it’s a Water-type?”

So swept up he was in his observations he’d very nearly missed being shot out of the water by a passing Sharpedo. Oops!

The sudden swerve in mid-air made him look up, only to see the retreating shark Pokémon snickering…

“…rude.”

Okay if there was one surefire way to drag Siri out of his room it was this.

The tree.

And it wasn’t just any tree, it was the Christmas tree.

The only problem was, since this was a tropical region they were living in now, what the hell were they supposed to decorate? A palm tree? A coconut tree? One of those weird-ass tropical trees that was in no way / shape / form a pine tree at all?

Huh.

“What the hell.”

Here he was, in the living room, surrounded by boxes. He had noodle arms and wasn’t going to be doing this shit alone, okay?!

“Where the hell’s everyone?! I can’t set the tree up alone!” he shouted. Geez. Leave everything to the youngest, why don’t they?
