His gaze trailed after the occasional Unfezant, streaking gracefully across the night sky.[break][break]

Modern events were truly a wonder, needless to say. At the very least, the things he’d seen since setting foot within Hoenn had been leagues different than the dull, daily occurrences that he’d seen through his years within Lavender Town (what with the normal occurrences being something related to something supposed supernatural, or otherwise annoyingly malevolent), and although he hadn’t quite been one for lingering and gawking, he did have to admit that the sheer efficiency in the face of special events deserved more respect.[break][break]

A fall faire. Word of such a thing had spread around, and so he sat there with an idle eye towards his surroundings; xanthous hues scanning the horizons both distant and closer as he leaned back within his seat. At some point, they directed themselves towards the bonfire (one that certainly hadn’t been there on the norm, and had only been built for the event in question, he assumed) by his side, all before directing his gaze towards the table before him.[break][break]

He eyed the woman sitting in the chair across from him, by extension.[break][break]

”...My, you look tense as usual~,” he cooed with an almost mocking, yet amused tone all the same. He folded his hands in his lap, his brows raising, and his eyes narrowing gently. ”Still confused about how you got here, Officer~?”

There were a number of things that he considered himself confident at. Swindling people? Check. Backhand insulting? Also check. Working a silver tongue, getting on peoples’ nerves, pushing his luck even when he shouldn’t…[break][break]

Check, check, and double check all of those.[break][break]

In addition to that, however, there had also been one, primary thing that he’d always felt he had an affinity for: spying a worthwhile item. Whether it be nothing more than worthy of being boasted over, or whether it had legitimate, practical value, being able to find and snag a noteworthy trinket or otherwise had always been something he’d personally prided himself over. Some may have found the emphasis on such things to be a bit obscure, but as he found himself gazing upon a smaller pendant hanging upon the table of a nearby stall for display, he couldn’t help but disagree with all of those metaphorical people.[break][break]

He took a glimpse over his shoulder, raising a brow and humming lightly. ”Oh, Officer~!” he chimed with a brief, borderline teasing chuckle within his tone, waving towards a certain someone all the while. ”Do you mind coming here for a moment~?”

Ridiculous.[break]
Absolutely ridiculous.[break][break]

Now, this sort of thing happened every so often. It was normal; not out of the ordinary at all, whatsoever. If the quill-slinging Pokemon had to be entirely honest, he was actually used to this, for the most part. On longer trips overseas to some other region (that specific case being some longer trip to research a bit more on the Unown things that were happening, or whatever), he and his ghastly companion were dropped off to be taken care of. Easy. Nothing to worry about.[break][break]

Until he found himself constantly pestered by chance.[break][break]

Normally, he’d just...squawk and flutter off. Angrily. This time was different, though. Each time he did, he was still followed. Each time he did, he was still pestered. It truly, truly ruffled his feathers, but there he was. Fuming. Frustrated.[break][break]

He found himself squinting at a certain, begrudgingly familiarly finned creature as she chimed her sweet little notes his way.[break][break]

Disgusting. Shit.

Just another day, and another apricorn-laced drink.[break][break]

Truly, a wolf in sheep’s clothing in all of his pure, unbridled glory. Going to that specific cafe had turned into nothing short of a routine following most jobs that he’d done, yet even then, the taste of both drink and success, alike, had never failed to prove fruitful and enjoyable to him. Inhaling deeply, an idle, subtle smile tugged upon his lips as he eyed the device within his hand, all while the thumb of which scrolled softly yet swiftly upon the glass of the screen. All the while, the fingers of the remaining hand tapped gently upon the ceramic form of the mug within its grasp.[break][break]

A soft hum sounded under his breath before he lifted it and took another sip.

informal bio basics: ya mans went through some basic transitioning into concerning levels of neglect and trauma in the past (excessive bullying, constant neglect, you catch my drift) and all of those things ended up sort of forging him into the person he is today. do he got morals? kinda. are they really jank? definitely. he's got a troubled past that he doesn't speak a word about to anyone, and the only ones that really know about it are him, his pokemon, and the family that more or less disowned him.[break][break]

and now we're here.[break][break]

somewhere along the line, he ended up being sent to live with some relatives in one of the more reputable and modernized cities in kanto (let's tentatively say saffron city by now), where his grandparents tried to reverse all those years of bad jujus he went through. long story short, they couldn't, and he ended up making friends with the wrong crowds. one thing led to the next, and now we're here, witnessing him at the peak of his grifter career. dude's got a silver tongue and knows he's good at what he does, and to this day, most people who know of his grifting escapades really only know him and what he's done under his moniker, ryeong- otherwise, he's just a normal dude with a squeaky clean record. honestly speaking, he's finessed his way through a lot of scams of differing importance and stolen a lot of pokemon (some for team rocket, some for straight up jobs, and whatever else in between. it's all honestly fair game) and other goods over the years, so yeah. he comin' for ya knicknacks.[break][break]

his pokemon are also basically his family. blood does not run thicker to him, and those two were really the only ones that both found and defending him through everything he went through as a kid, so you can safely assume that they're a) the only ones he really cares about with his heart and soul at the moment, and b) only loyal to him, and him along. if he isn't around, they're an absolute nightmare to work with and handle. found family stereotypes but with pokemon, basically.[break][break]
