If he were any less stubborn, Percy would probably fall for it too, but he has heard words like those before, and experience leads him to raise a brow and move his foot away from Pace’s.

Instead of thinking of things like those, he focuses on imagining Sinnoh the way Pace describes it. He’s right, most big cities are pretty similar to one another; Goldenrod City isn’t all that different from Slateport, nor are cities like Hammerlocke and Wyndon. Ecruteak, however? There’s no place quite like Ecruteak.

So, let’s just say Percy has been walking around and around in the dark like a dummy and hasn’t found anything interesting because surprise surprise… pokémon also like their sleep and a bunch of lights floating around can be annoying, alright?

Until he runs into a Bulbasaur munching on some berries as if they were some sort of midnight snack, and it’s the most adorable thing.

”Aw, look at you.” Listen, Percy may be biased towards ghosts, but grass types are pretty cute too. So, he kneels down near the Bulbasaur and tries to pet it, and in turn, the pokémon keeps enjoying its snack as if unbothered by his presence.

As he petted the Miltank and set everything up, Percy quietly listened to the boy’s words, looking down at his hands and wondering if they would be warm enough. Until a single word caught his attention and caused him to calmly turn to look at Arashi.

I’m also from Enju.” His gaze inspected the teenager for a second, searching for a familiarity that wasn’t there at all, and once confirming this fact, he turned towards the Miltank again, a stream of fresh milk soon crashing against the inner wall of the metal bucket.

While the boy went to retrieve the Miltank, Percy busied himself with grabbing a bucket and a stool, taking a moment to take in the sights surrounding him. Calm. Peaceful. For some reason, places like these always made him think of home, even if the Munn family’s household was no farm at all. But, there had always been farmlands nearby, especially back in Galar...

The sight of the boy and his prosthetic right arm also made him think of his hometown, but in a much different way. Of Ecruteak, this time. Of terrible events that happened long ago.

It could only be a coincidence, right? What were the odds?

Still, journalist as he was, his curiosity was always one to drive Percy forward.

”Cool arm.” The comment comes as merely that: a comment and nothing more. Matter-of-factly and lacking in pity or anything else as he takes a seat by the Miltank in the barn – petting it to calm it down. ”Is that why you were worried about scaring the Miltank?”

There was no shift in his expression when listening to the boy’s words, grey eyes simply watching him as if looming rainclouds. What he meant was obvious enough, but if Percy felt any guilt or remorse for having asked such a question, there were no signs to show as much.

Milking Miltanks was definitely not something Percy cared much for doing either, but it was what he had been asked to do, and it sounded simple enough. How hard could it be, right?

Despite Percy’s opinions on the Safari Zone and on how it’s definitely, absolutely, without a doubt, one hundred percent better at night, it’s after a few minutes that the lack of light becomes an annoyance.

What’s his response to that?

Call out his Banette, of course! Who needs a flashlight when you have a pokémon that can summon WILL-O-WISP flames to float around you?
[break][break]
Once the instruction is given to the Marionette Pokémon, the blue orbs of fire ignite, and under their light is that Percy notices a shy Larvitar watching him and his pokémon from behind a tree. Adorable.

But, sadly, the Banette is playful as ever, and it’s with a PHANTOM FORCE that she teleports closer to the Larvitar, spooking it and also injuring it in the process.

”Babban…” Percy sighs, reaching for a Safari Ball to catch the poor Larvitar while the ghosts laughs.
