Same place. Same Pokemon walking along him. Same, daily route to be walked. It was honestly the standard thing that he’d accustomed himself to ever since coming to the region, and all.[break][break]

So, there he was, walking along the familiar tunnels and caverns leading into the Meteor Falls that early morning. Although he hadn’t had some apricorn blended drink with him that time around, what he did have was a pretty prominent farmer’s tan from a couple days beforehand. He knew he should’ve brought sunscreen the moment he was told his last assignment would be beneath the sun for the whole day, but alas, he didn’t.[break][break]

Not too long after the beautiful blue had taken its leave, the Rocket member found himself eying the falls for a small while longer before finally beginning to shift, once more. With a soft breath and sigh, he rested the heel of his palm against a knee just seconds prior to pushing down upon it, and by extension, allowing leverage to ease himself back up.[break][break]

Soon after, he’d end up doing a double take.[break][break]

Another scan of the scenery was all he’d intended to do, but at the sight of a certain, spinning and rotating creature, he couldn’t help but find himself equally confused and mesmerized. With a cursory glance sent towards his Pokemon in the distance, he debated for a small while. Before ultimately walking over towards the sigil-like creature to observe it. The closer he seemed to get, the more of an energy akin to a will-o-wisp he’d seen exuberated from its form- but in any case, the display really only seemed instinctive instead of hostile.[break][break]

After some thought, he smiled slightly before reaching down to a free capsule hooked onto his belt, gently tapping it on its-...[break][break]

Eye?[break][break]

Fuck if he knew, honestly. Either way, he tapped it softly onto its form, watching with an ongoing curiosity as it warped its way into the ball in the familiar, wispy way that other Pokemon did when called and recalled.[break][break]

There was a speck of blue that caught his eye.[break][break]

For a slightly longer amount of time, he found himself eying the waters some ways away; azure hues only eying the drake that had traveled out with him for a moment (watching as he seemed content with picking around and taking in the sights for himself, as well) before turning his attention towards the shelled creature once more. Reaching over towards his belt, he gently pried a pouch hooked onto it open, fishing out a couple of snacks that he’d brought along for the aforementioned dragon whenever they took their walks.[break][break]

”Well, aren’t you just a beauty~?” he cooed, offering the Pokemon a soft gaze and smile, alike, as he walked over. Upon closing in enough, he knelt by the water’s edge and held the treats out. After a few, cursory sniffs, he was content to see it happily nibble them from his hand, and after a quick chance to gently pat its head, he watched as it gradually began to turn and swim back towards the falls. While not quite a prayer in itself, he did hope that it would be able to take care.[break][break]

There was always something about the little cheek pouches a Dracovish made whenever it snacked on something.[break][break]

Something about the little chubbiness to the cheeks. Something about how the creature in question would hold whatever it was eating between its odd, mismatched flippers. Yeah, it was frankly weird as Hell, but there was something entertaining about the oddity at all, and that had been the precise reason in which he’d continued to hand off little snacks that he’d purchased prior to dropping by the ranch, altogether.[break][break]

And yet, his streak of appreciation ended before long, even if it was only for a brief time. At the sound of another voice (a familiar one, he noted rather quickly), he turned his head instinctively, catching sight of a certain, viridian-haired woman. Blinking, he rose his hand in a gentle wave, broadening his smile. ”That I am, yeah,” he called in response. He eyed her as she neared tilting his head with a soft touch of amusement. ”...And so are you, I take it~. Small world.”

He’d never been so thankful to be so hard of hearing.[break][break]

Even then, though, the absolute hyperactivity of the little creature was the farthest from lost upon him, and if he hadn’t been so cursed (or blessed, rather, in that specific context) to be able to be so nonchalant towards louder noises, he would’ve cringed at the sheer volume of the chirps sent his way. ”I’m...male,” he began with something almost akin to hesitance and uncertainty, tilting his head faintly due to the situation at hand. His eyes narrowed faintly, though remained with a curious spark, nevertheless. ”And you’re...awfully full of energy, aren’t you?”[break][break]

By no means had he considered himself easy to easy to scare, but he did have to admit that hearing a sudden echo in the night was, at the very least, somewhat jarring. He hadn’t quite jumped nor yelped at the sound of a distant creature, but he had turned sharply, all while azure hues peered skeptically into the dark. An Unfezant, maybe? No. No, that sounded wrong the moment he’d humored the thought, even if it did happen to belong to one of the other members on board.[break][break]

Not too long afterwards, however, came the voice. What short lived, heightened vigilance he’d inherited had swiftly proved quick to disappear, and after leaning towards the side in attempt to catch a better glimpse of the source, he merely settled upon moving forward to meet whoever it was halfway. ”On patrol, yeah,” he’d called out as he neared.[break][break]

He’d been about to add more, but as he turned the corner, he found himself eyeing a certain someone, instead.[break]

By no means was it blunt force, per say, but the sudden contact was admittedly at least a little bit jarring, and upon feeling a sudden weight upon his back for no more than a split second, he instinctively and swiftly turned to glance over his shoulder. Although ready and on guard to retaliate (much like the drake by his side), he’d made quick work of scouring the surroundings before catching sight of...another person.[break][break]

He blinked, furrowing his brows the slightest bit before relaxing his expression.[break][break]

”...No. No, I can’t say I am,” he started off with a faint intonation, glancing down towards the Pokeball and reaching over to pick it up, ”but, uh...thanks for thinking I’m a catch, I guess~?” His lip quirked faintly into a small smirk before long, and he spin the capsule within his hand for a moment before holding it towards her, nodding towards it.[break][break]

”...Maybe don’t ho aiming at random people next time, though~? Might actually work one day. Who knows.”[break][break]

...There had been some sort of familiarity in all that followed. From the way he offered a smile and gaze towards the neighboring woman, as well as the manner in which she handled her own scarf around him so gently, there had been a sense of ongoing nostalgia imbued within his soul. Although he merely offered her a sparing glance prior to gazing towards the stars once more (not quite minding the closeness, and truthfully welcoming it, to a degree), his smile remained continuous as a result of the occurrences, altogether.[break][break]

He knew, though. He knew while remaining unknowing.[break]
In some other, distantly parallel world, he likely would’ve been there with another.[break]
In another, nothing would have changed, to begin with.[break][break]

But those worlds were their respective ones, and the given as the given- and for a small while more, the Dante of that universe eyed the heavens above for a while longer before humming softly. ”...Glad to see you took the offer so willingly~,” he mused, tilting his head faintly.

Another day of routine.[break][break]

Ever since being transferred to the region, he’d made quick work of finding a specific route to traverse just for the sake of keeping himself active. Out of the companions that he had, however, only one of them ever seemed to be willing to wake up alongside him before the light of fawn- and it was for that reason that the footsteps of a certain, armored dragon of his had joined his throughout the early morning.[break][break]

He inhaled deeply and breathed a sigh, watching the armored drake trek about as he lifted a familiar tumbler to his lips. A hum resounded softly against its form as he took a sip of the sweet, yet subtle taste of the apricorn-and-berry blend within it, and for just a moment, he peered around to observe the area around the falls.[break][break]

All things considered, he had to admit that it was a pretty nice place to take the sights in.

He couldn’t help but smile more upon noting the gesture offered towards him, and with a chuckle and a shake of the head, he shifted his gaze towards the skies above them, once more. ”...Can’t say I entirely believe you,” he started off, ”but if you say so, I guess.”[break][break]

With his eyes still looming upon the perfectly aligned expanse of stars above them, he gestured idly towards the fire before them.[break][break]

”...Wouldn’t hurt to get a bit closer, though. I’m just saying~.”

As much as he loved and preferred the smaller team that he had, he did have to admit that having more Pokemon by his side would be useful. Of course, he more than intended to bond with anyone and everyone that he did manage to coerce into his own, little adventures (whether the methods be forceful or otherwise), and thus it was a given that those that he did manage to whisk into his favor would be undoubtedly treated as if they were his own flesh and blood.[break][break]

Now, it was just a matter of finding the creatures in question.
