sensing the tension, the aerodactyl landed close, bowing herself and grumbling out a few purrs. she was showing submission, that she wanted to help, not aggression.

"she looks real scary but she's a big teddy bear i swear!" she tried to reassure the talonflame, and then watched alexei basically speak to his birds.

"i think that's a great idea! i have a lot of pokémon that could potentially carry it."

like literally any rock pokémon nearly. or at least the evolutions. even alolan variants!

"i'd like that. i'm so out of the loop, y'know?" francie commented, knowing good and well the conversation would come to a lull at the end of that.

and it did. there were little snippets here and there, of course. them talking, things happening; small conversations. and she felt, perhaps, like she was finally starting to get a little closer to fernando.

like she was getting a better social link rating with the death tarot or something; which she was totally fine with. all while looking in a nearly frozen cave for something that would make his radar go ding-ding. and when it did, on a small portion of rock. she had her lycanroc dig it up with ease and took the chunk of rock to excavate more thoroughly for him.

because who doesn't love a little opening for the next thread, right?

"oh neat!" francie exclaimed, showing FERNANDO SILPH her find with a bright smile. then the smile faded and she realized, for sure, that it wasn't something either of them were really looking for. "i mean, i just thought it was cool like, i found a stone... i know it's not what we were like, y'know, lookin' for, but--"

francie's ramble that was slowly descending into self-doubt was cut short by the sounds of a steelix, and the growls of the gible evolutionary line.

"careful fernando, they're all super territorial-- i mean, which you probably know."

louie growled, hair bristling, but he snorted and went to action. if any of the gible and steelix got close, he used a STOMPING TANTRUM to get them to back off, sure to keep close to francie and fernando as to keep them safe. and of course, anybody else who happened to be close enough for the protection.

but francie's main focus was keeping fernando safe. somehow, she decided, that was her job.

it made sense, to her anyway, but the squawking caught her attention. louie was still valiantly sitting and watching what was going on. made francie smile.

"he's not gonna be much help unless they lower themselves, so--"

with a small movement, she pulled her aerodactyl out, letting her fly into the air. as she did, she gave a screech, flapping her wings and raising up to help the braviary.

"careful! we just want them to leave, we don't really wanna get into a battle in the middle of the city, till."

francie had, while matias was on his way, managed to get a giant harness situated around the wailord via a few of her bulkier pokémon, with her aerodactyl being harnessed up as well, to help support the weight.

"hello!" she greeted with a bright smile. she pushed some of her hair from her face, successfully getting sand in it. several smudges proved she'd clearly been working hard while he traveled. "my name's francie myrtle. we've got the wailord situated into a harness. my plan's to use a mega evolution to make my aerodactyl strong enough to carry the weight of the wailord-- think your charizard could do the same?"

she spoke so casually about the miracle that was mega evolution-- but then, suddenly, her eyes were distracted.

"sick tattoos by the way holy shnikies man, must've hurt."

well now francie was wondering if the girl could read her mind, because, wow what great insight. really, maybe she nat 20'd an insight check. francie had no idea and decided she didn't care.

she was relieved.

"oh! i mean, i wouldn't judge either way." foot meet mouth. "that's not a great response, lemme start over-- oh! good to know!"

she nodded, brows furrowed as she took a drink of her beverage.

"yep, that sounded way more natural. cool."

somebody kill her now please.

inconsequential things. boy was his vocabulary like, ten levels higher than hers. felt super-effective against her poor little brain too.

while she had experience in dangerous mountain climbing and being a trainer, he seemed to have a lot of wit about him. with that she couldn't ever sit still long enough to summon. sometimes, perhaps, she could get the will to learn. reading while climbing or hanging from a tree. but mostly?

reading was so boring it made her fall asleep... even being read too felt relaxing and she plopped off into sleep and had strange dreams.

"thanks barnaby. i just sometimes feel like i ramble. and most of the time my words have like, zero direction, i just keep talking in circles until i find a point and stop."

which was true. at least she's self-aware right?

a howl from her lycanroc and the sound of rocks forming from the earth had francie tensing, brows furrowed. seemed that lyonel had gone ahead and spotted something, and then engaged. instead of riding along, she slid off the back of the horse with little to no experience in having doing so. she nearly tripped, but found her way upright as she jogged ahead enough to catch up.

"lyonel??" the sight had her frowning, brows furrowed. "this is why you're usually kept away. you can't engage everything that looks at you funny!"

after giving him a scolding, and him snickering at her, she recalled her lycanroc and looked to the houndour he'd pretty well ko'd with a STONE EDGE. that mixed with his NO GUARD ability-- the poor thing didn't stand a chance.

so she tossed a pokéball with furrowed brows.

"poor thing."

"i remember reading up a bit on the mega evolution and the energies. i even read at one point, groudon came up from the volcano but it was a past groudon? the news was really wishywashy about it all. but i remember reading you were there."

she smiled at him as they walked, thinking back on the article.

"the hnn is always so freakin' vague... anything i need to know about, since representing you? or would you rather i don't have information so i can play dumb?"

yes, she was asking if it would benefit fernando if she know or not. why? because honestly, she was definitely curious, she wanted to ask him everything and know everything and anything he would tell her. but in truth?

she just wanted to be of use. things not of use were ignored, pushed aside, or worse.

"it's nice to meet you officer concordas! i'm francie myrtle with the rangers, representing silph company."

her own title was a mouthful, which she only realized once she had to take a deep breath after speaking.

"but you can call me whatever you want!" she responded to everything, including blondie, france, franciepants, fran the man, frannie bo bannie, etc. "uhhh, yeah, apparently it's a green trapinch. that's what people are saying. and it's very greedy. which, honestly, is a little strange cause they're not usually the thieving kinda pokémon."

she tapped her chin in thought, and then, shrugged.

"mm! it'll be fine. i've got a few lycanroc that can try and sniff out the culprit, unless you had other plans."

"i found a few things. some rumors around mt. coronet and the peak but, mostly, i found myself."

the tone she used when explaining, it sounded so simple, so lax. like it wasn't a big deal. like she wasn't saying something sage like. as if telling him her favorite brand of cereal to have in the morning.

"but i'm glad you're recovering. even if it is a slow process. have you thought about using like, heal pulse and life dew? i've heard the healing properties are really good. they've even used life dew here in hoenn for medical procedures."

then she raised her hands, laughing.

"i mean! i'm no nurse joy, just a suggestion!"

startled by the noise made, francie had turned the moment she heard that cleared throat and winced. the voice attached though?

"angie!" though, as she calls him that with her arms thrown in the air with childlike excitement, she realizes upon seeing him that calling him angie is almost a disgrace to women because he's like--

"whoa, biscuits angie, you're like, buff-- ah!"

catching herself, she laughs nervously and makes her way over to hug him, hides her face, wow wow, much embarrassment, it's fine.

"it's good to see you, i mean!"

convenient for work? sure, made sense. francie wasn't about to question it. she did, however, recall all of her own pokémon just so that they didn't cause a fuss. given that lyonel liked to antagonize everything and anything that he could find. specifically wooloo.

she quietly followed, quietly watched as mattis was comfortably adjusting into his 'home mode.' which, honestly, had her doing the same and kicking off her shoes at the door. to show respect, mostly.

the wooloo however had her eyes widening. she immediately bent down to be on their level, holding out her hand. in all ways, she was showing submission, showing she was a guest, and that she meant them no harm. she knew they could be very docile and, admittedly, skittish things when they wanted to be.

"hello new friends!" she whispered. "you're so cute... it's strange, i feel like i've been here before."

which happened to her a lot because she'd been to too many places in only seven years time.
