If he had to admit it, Beau was maybe a little scared. Except, like, not really. When one of his clients fell asleep during her workout, he'd asked her if she was getting enough rest. Though he was used to seeing a little weirdness here and there, he couldn't quite shake the speed at which she'd turned chalk-white and explained that the apartment she'd just moved into was not exactly...conducive for sleep.

Between footsteps that had no visible source, bitterly cold temperatures on a warm Spring night, and things falling off the walls and shelves with no provocation, Eugenie was a nervous wreck and already on the lookout for a new place to live despite only having spent a week in Mauville Hills.

So, Beau did what Beau did best, and ran a few miles on his Thinking Treadmill. Later, wiping his brow, he'd put out a want ad to help him check the place out and prove to Eugenie once and for all that she didn't have anything to fear from her new abode.

Still, he had to admit that the place was just a little eerie at night, where the lack of people milling around made every innocuous noise that much more prominent. So, in addition to waiting around for his cohort in this little safety inspection, he'd brought the biggest muscle he could in case he DID in fact encounter something paranormal.

Chaos the Snubbull sniffled derisively, turning his head upward to regard Beau with huge, watery eyes and a mumbled "Rrf." Beau crossed his arms defensively, looking away from Chaos with what he hoped was a manly frown. "Hey, brah, better safe than sorry!"

Of course, no sooner has Beau made the challenge than Torben spies a Combusken rising from the grass, crouched into a battle position.

"Get 'er!" Beau whoops, very helpfully.
[break][break]
Torben, however, offers a feral grin as he lunges toward the new target, WORKing himself UP with a snarl. The Combusken, unruffled, kicks up a flurry of loose dirt and grit as the Pangoro closes in, causing Torben's attack to go wide and leaving the bear carving a large furrow in the dirt in lieu of his opponent.

The Combusken is quick to offer a rejoinder, twisting low before leaping off the ground and thrusting her fist upward in a SKY UPPERCUT that sends Torben reeling. "Whoa, brah, don't let that chicken call you chicken!" Beau calls out. "BULLET PUNCH!"

Torben manages to rotate in the air before landing, skidding backward slightly as his feet find purchase in the loose, red earth at the foot of the volcano. Growling furiously, the Pangoro charges forward, his fists a blur as he assails the Combusken with a barrage of lightning-quick punches that send the bird reeling dizzily backward. With a final blow, Torben sends a decisive punch into the Combusken's sternum that causes her to collapse to the ground, and Beau is just as quick to throw a poke ball, catching the pokemon lightly on the shoulder before the familiar red light engulfs her.

Beau shakes his head vigorously, hastily pulling the flap all the way down on his lunch bag and stowing it away in the drawer once more. "Oh, no way, this'll heat up later. No big, dude!" Playing it cool, he kicks the drawer shut, only his foot misses and he manages to hit the underside of the table with a loud THUNK. His smile remains in place, to his credit, but a grimace of pain crinkles the corners of his eyes, and he repeats the kick, a little to the right, this time sliding the drawer shut with a much less jarring sound.

He gives Billi an apologetic shrug, pointing at the door to the gym proper behind him. "I mean, I'm not a jock doc, but you know what you can do and can't do, yeah?" He offers a winning grin. "If you wanna take a look at the place, I mean, I'm happy to help."

He thumps Billi on the shoulder encouragingly - the good one - and nods. "I don't know anything about sleeping poison, but I know about sticking with something, so have at it, brah!"

"-WHOA!" Beau's thought is interrupted as a jet of flame erupts in front of him, coming dangerously close to singing his eyebrows and missing Torben by a fraction, saved only by the Pangoro's deceptively quick reflexes. The trainer looks around wildly, finally orienting on a Magmar glaring at the pair from further up the slope.

Beau returns the glare with full force, hollering up at the wayward fire pokemon. "Anyone ever tell you it's rude to just throw your weight around like that? Let's see how YOU like it!" At that, Torben launches upward with a growl, slamming into the rocky slope where the Magmar lingers. She dodges out of the way, but not quickly enough to avoid the massive paw that snaps out to grab her ankle like a vice.

"Okay, Torben, Vital Throw!" The Pangoro roars, spinning in a circle to build momentum before releasing the Magmar at the apex of his throw, sending her tumbling head over tail through the air to slam into the side of the mountain with a crash. She slides down, fumbles about as though she's going to rise again, then thinks better of it and falls still.

As Torben lumbers down to rejoin Beau, the smaller man gives a cheer and a high-five to his Pangoro. "That was sweet, brah! Wonder if there's anything stronger around here that might give you a real workout?"

Beau nods immediately in understanding. "Brah, hentai monsters are the WORST," he commiserates, like he knows what a hentai monster is. Probably one of those weird evolutions he's heard about from other regions.

He does, however, take the opportunity to look Billi's affected arm over as he pulls his own back from the shake, sliding his hands into his pockets as he surveys the other man. "Poison, huh? And the docs are telling you just to use the arm to make it feel better?" He scratches his head in confusion, brow furrowed. "That doesn't sound right..."

"Still, good to meet you, Billi! Say, uh, think they got any of that poison leftover from Mr. Hentai Monster for an antivenom?" he asks, giving a one-shouldered shrug. "I have some stuff I can spot you on that'll keep the intensity low, but if there's poison attacking the tissue, ain't that just kinda...getting spread around if all you're doin' is flexing?"

As Beau wanders through the maze, his gaze is torn to the walls to each side and the ground underfoot as the foliage shifts and changes. Several steps ahead, Chaos huffs and scampers around a corner, then sneezes, propelling himself back into view, followed by a lazy drift of dandelion spores.

"Whoa, little dude, careful! I gotcha." Hurrying forward, Beau scoops the Snubbull up in his arms, turning down the length of the next path and regarding the floating seeds with dubious apprehension. With a yell, Beau breaks into a full-out run, sheltering Chaos from the deadly drifting spores as the pokemon buries his head in the crook of Beau's elbow.

Bursting out in front of the Jumpluff, Beau gives a victorious whoop and punches the air with his free hand, taking up the box and shoving it in his bag while offering a broad grin at the waiting Jumpluff. Adjusting his grip on Chaos, he turns to regard the fork in the path, glancing down to ask the Snubbull, "Which way, brah?"

Chaos raises his head to survey the options before offering a rheumy nod at the RIGHT path. Beau nods as Chaos burrows his head back into his trainer's elbow, setting off at a brisk trot.

Today's jaunt has led Beau to scenic Route 112, overlooked by Mount Chimney itself. The man hums almost idly to himself as he negotiates his way along the path, trailing along the border where grass meets the ruddy rock of the volcano.

"Come on, dude, we're not even halfway done! You giving up already?" He calls over his shoulder, grinning broadly. Behind him, his Pangoro, Torben, surges forward with a grunt, heavy limbs stamping into the ground until he overtakes Beau on his hike, a smirk curling the corner of his jagged muzzle.

Beau laughs as the larger pokemon thunders past, picking up his own speed to try and pace Torben as they approach a thatch of tall grass. "Whoa, be careful man! You gotta watch out in case a wild po-"

Oblivious to the Roselia's irritation, Beau offers a jaunty wave as he wanders past her, following the snorting and snuffling of Chaos as the Snubbull pads sedately down the path they've chosen. At length, the pair arrive at another intersection and Beau blinks at the Lilligant warden as she offers the box. "For me?" he inquires, looking over one shoulder and then the other before pointing at himself, as though there were anyone else in arm's reach that might have a gift being given to them.

He accepts the box with a broad grin, cracking the lid open ever so slightly before throwing it wide with a happy exclamation, withdrawing the poke balls inside and pocketing them. "Thanks, dude!" he effuses, offering the Lilligant a double finger gun in gratitude.

"Okay, Chaos, we have another choice to make. Which way this time, left or right?" The winded Snubbull glances first one direction, then the other, before once more setting off along the LEFT path. Beau offers one more cheery wink to the Lilligant before chasing after his pokemon.

Beau doesn't hear the door from his crouched position behind the desk, but the bright 'Hello' prompts him to twist his head around, searching for the source of the greeting. The moment of distraction is just enough for the Poipole to snatch the lunch bag out of his grip, at which he gives a surprised squawk. "Whoa, this is a no-fly zone, brah!"

He makes a swipe to try and get the bag back, but the Poipole is too agile, and Beau misses his shot entirely. Coming to his feet, he casts a surprised look at Billi who retrieves the bag from Majora, fumbles it, and then hands it back. "Uh, thanks, it's a protein bowl," he replies, popping the half-open bag down on the desk and offering his hand to Billi for a shake. "Welcome to Fontaine Fitness, I'm Beau."

At Billi's comment about his arm, Beau tilts his head slightly, curious. "Yeah, brah, you're jacked enough that a lunch bag shouldn't be giving you trouble. What happened there, man?"
