[attr="class","text"] In the haze of their anger and indignance, everything becomes a blur. They're aware of
mint frost arguing with them, of
Marza Volchitsa practically knocking them away from their close guard at
jayden cross's side as she socks him in the jaw. For a moment, the fog clears and they blink up at the beast with startled eyes.[break][break]
But the furor still remains, even as they're pitched in unyielding dark as the electricity from their
ELECTRIC TERRAIN is sucked out of the room, then flickers out entirely thanks to
Elisabeth Fiorelli.[break][break]
Distracted from the efforts of their friends, Fern whirls blindly to where the underboss was, only illuminated briefly by the flare of wo-chien's attack. Their mouth opens in a snarl, on the cusp of threatening her with the knowledge they hold for her. That they are not one to strain ties with if she would like to keep her patronage of Tapu Fini quiet.[break][break]
But then Jayden is retaliating, and before Fern can do much else, they feel the yank of
Marza Volchitsa hauling them out of range of the juts of ice that shoot up around him. It's an action they don't fight, and it leaves them with the feeling of being no more than a litten being hoisted up by its scruff.[break][break]
Then the chaos dies under
declan walsh's command, and in a swath of shadow, both the new avatar and patron are put under the burden of slumber.[break][break]
It's a reprieve that allows the rage to depart entirely, though Fern remains protective and wary at the sight of the other admin vulnerable and prone on the ground. The nudge of Marza's foot shakes their concentration, and for a moment, they startle with the trace of their normal self. Their hands lift to cradle their own sore face, lips turning down in a baleful frown.
"Marza, you hit meeee."[break][break]
And they likely deserved it, but still.[break][break]
They stagger to their feet, prompted into movement as their eyes move beyond Marza and connect with
Cillian Quinn's across the cave. They blink, then nod in understanding. As they scramble back to where
jayden cross has crumbled, they give little attention to the slumbering chien-pao or the three birds that burst from the book and soar free.[break][break]
Tapu Koko, drifts at a distance behind Fern and takes on the interest in the strange trio that they lack. It watches their flight keenly - sparked, perhaps, by the fact that like it, they
too are
other. Foreign to Hoenn, and pulled there from worlds beyond this one.[break][break]
They're only dimly aware of any others that also approach. Presence that lingers over their shoulders as their hands reach for their partner's shoulders.
"Jayden?" They give him a loose shake, no more than that. Electricity still crawls across their skin, but it's only the manifestation of anxious energy - dimmed down to nothing anymore powerful than the little shocks that caused by friction and static.[break][break]
Voice lowering to no more than a harsh whisper as they peer down at him, Fern gives him one more shake,
"Michail. Mischa." It would be a lie to deny the thread of trepidation in chancing this, uncertain as they are of what state he'll wake in even with chien-pao subdued.
