"hoenn is but a single tier of many." the boss says, eyeing the stakataka staircase with disdain. "careful that you don't make a misstep, katherine."[break][break]

with a loud roar, the NIDOKING fires a barrage of boulders (ROCK SLIDE). as each second passes, it is clear a stalemate is beginning to claim dominion over their time.[break][break]

finally from beneath the boss' suit, his gloved hand retracts. in between his fingers, a suspicious griseous shard remains pinched.[break][break]

"take it." he tosses it toward katherine before recalling his fallen gliscor that had remained on the field. "consider it an invitation."[break][break]

there is no time to recall the gliscor. the ensuing explosion tears across the scorpion and its trainer, razing the sanctity of their silhouettes by sheer force. [break][break]

in the aftermath, the gliscor is knocked out cold. but walsh is no where to be seen. [break][break]

however, the boss rematerializes in a tendril of shadow near katherine. [break][break]

"you have an affinity for ultra beasts don't you?" [break][break]

walsh says as he tosses another pokeball; this time, more angry. more disturbed. his cape burns and frays. [break][break]

"just like them, you'll remain forever out of place with the league." [break][break]

a NIDOKING lands on the earth. briefly, declan walsh is reminded of a THEO BECKETT in celadon before the behemoth summons a SLUDGE WAVE to crash upon her.[break][break]

one hand slides into his suit, beneath his overhanging cape and remains there.[break][break]

"fold your wings. brace yourself."[break][break]

the MIND BLOWN erupts and though the gliscor attempts to shield itself, it is still hurled back from the overwhelming detonation. scorch marks score its leathery wings.[break][break]

as the smoke of battle whisks past their ankles, shadows surge forth to replace it. the boss commands his gliscor to the air:[break][break]

"hide in the shadows. NIGHT SLASH." [break][break]

the shadows obscure the soaring gliscor's movements as it attempts to NIGHT SLASH the ultra beast's lithe form.[break][break]

by the blacephalon bravado, his GLISCOR is TAUNTED. such a performance throws a wrench in the boss' initial strategy: to aim for katherine from the beginning.[break][break]

though, he surmises he can still accomplish what he has aimed for:[break][break]

"EARTHQUAKE." [break][break]

the gliscor slams its sharp tail on the ground, forcing the earth to tremble and fissure toward the malevolent and her clown.[break][break]

one can never truly leave team rocket. the syndicate's shadow can not be escaped. trespassing into rocket's umbral pool paints the step forever. it is only a matter of time until someone tracks the path.[break][break]

before katherine can advance further, the realm’s mist swells like a tidal wave. a dark shadow erupts before her, cutting her foray short. from it, declan manifests.[break][break]

he makes no step toward her. instead, he stands still, observing her with his cold gaze.[break][break]

Eventually, the meals arrive. Two plates full of golden Yamper rump shaped bread and a spire of spaghetti. While you enjoy your meal, you notice that the Admin does not touch his meal. Perhaps, he is no fan of pasta...[break][break]

"Good. Have your fill. We will not rest tonight. Admin Walsh takes a slow, steady drink from his glass. "You and I will depart for Fuschia City in a few hours, but first we must prepare ourselves."[break][break]

He excuses himself from the table.[break][break]

"Come find me in my quarters." He says. With a quick flourish of his cape, he leaves.[break][break]

You finish your meal—it was that good—and find Walsh's quarters: a temporary base set in an office space in the same department store. You knock sheepishly... knock, knock.[break][break]

"Come in."[break][break]

You open the door to see Admin Walsh sitting at a desk. Before him, a large array of make up supplies, brushes, paints, and more, are spread across a large mirror. On the mirror are pictures of the Celadon Gym Leader you've executed and another. Upon scrutinizing the second photograph, you notice that the trainer is wearing a Celadon gym uniform.[break][break]

"You and I will be masquerading as a couple of Celadon's finest." Despite the monotony of his tone, you can detect the sarcasm in his breath. "This is my skill set. Quick, pass me that Petrel Brush."[break][break]

Without delay, you find the proper brand of brush. You hand it to him and he is quick to use it, evening out colour, blurring lines. In time, you see that he resembles the deceased gym leader more and more, even without the intervention of a Pokemon's abilities.[break][break]

"Take a seat beside me." He commands—and you do. "This is my expertise... and yet, we must still rely on Zoroark for maximum efficacy... I'll do yours. Sit still."[break][break]

He leans in close and gets to work. Carefully, he goes through the proper motions. Wipes your face clean tenderly with an exfoliating pad. Prepares the skin for proper application.[break][break]

"I must ask... why have you chosen to join us?" He begins to tap foundation onto your skin softly.
