THE BATTLE

THE BATTLE WAGES WITH ALL THE GRANDIOSITY expected from a clash with the pitch-black legendary. As Genevieve Cromwell's Milotic offers SAFEGUARDS against DARK VOIDS, others try to workaround the surge of slumber that threatens everyone involved. Some avoid sleep through abilities like Killian Decker's Hatterene's MAGIC BOUNCE or Emma Wolfe's Ariados' INSOMNIA.[break][break][break]

The battle serves as a simple lesson. Legendary Pokemon are not invincible, unstoppable forces. ENCORES, TORMENTS, even PETRIFICATION can affect the Darkrai; however, curiously enough, SLEEP fails on this umbral creature. Perhaps, it is due to Walsh's connection with the legendary itself...[break][break][break]

When marie jules approaches Declan, he laughs deeply. "you tickle me, marie. by all means. cotillard is in one of our holding cells. we've prodded him enough so that his tongue is loose." within the submarine, velmos is also housed in a neighboring pod.[break][break][break]

Walsh sees Valerio Dachev's Lunala gather energy. His brows furrow, eyes scrutinizing the scope of the attack— and as the ball becomes more massive than originally expected, the boss is quick to flick his finger toward it. Before the ULTRA BUST can manifest to completion, the Lunala falls ASLEEP. The bat-like Pokemon descends slowly to the ground in slumber.[break][break][break]

DARKRAI'S CHOICE

DECLAN CALLS OFF THE FIGHT. Although he asked for full fervor; there is still tact required. Their remote location provides privacy, but the change in weather and lighting is too much. Excessive. After reaches the front of the stage, he is quick to speak:[break][break][break]

"well done, everyone. my apology for ceasing the festivities so early, for it seems like we do need to exercise some restraint after all. those who are hiding away, please come back." declan looks to darkrai— and as the legendary shakes off some rock crumbs from its shadowy wisps, it seeps into a pool of shade.[break][break][break]

suddenly, a shadow surrounds head scientist Lulu Flint's feet. it erupts, engulfing her in the umbral geyser— and from it, darkrai appears once more.[break][break][break]

THE FLOETTE REMAINS affixed to the machine. As Declan deliberates, he pets the Flower Pokemon's head. Every swipe of his palm is smooth— but ends with a rough tussle at his fingertips.[break][break][break]

As marie jules appears, a slight smile appears on Declan's face. He responds kindly with two beats of a chuckle. Although he may not know of Marie's true aims— the topic of Cotillard is inevitably disturbed by bryan delarosa's inquiry. "YES, BY ALL MEANS YOU MAY SEARCH WITH CONRAD. HOWEVER, ABOUT YOUR SILVALLY. IT IS A SYNTHETIC POKEMON, CREATED BY THE AETHER FOUNDATION AND FURTHER TESTED WITH MOSSDEEP SPACE CENTER."[break][break][break]

Tired eyes scrutinize the creature curiously— and wonders how this particular one came to be. Skepticism lines his eyes as he continues, "COTILLARD, WHEN HE WAS THRUST INTO THIS WORLD, WORKED IN MOSSDEEP AS HE ATTEMPTED TO FIND A WAY BACK HOME. THESE POKEMON WERE MEANT TO HELP HUNT ULTRA BEASTS— AND WERE DESIGNED TO TURN AGAINST THEIR OWNERS WHEN THE MEGALOPOLANS CAME."[break][break][break]

SHADOW SOUVENIRS

AFTER MUCH DELIBERATION, Declan snaps his fingers. The grunts begin to return the Shadow Pokemon to their pokeballs. He calls upon several Rocket members to come to the front. With every decision, a ball is placed in his gloved hand before he tosses the capsule to the appropriate trainer. Underhand tosses, of course.[break][break][break]

He still acknowledges her energy in an outward smile. Should she surprise him and her peers despite her age, perhaps, in the future, power will come her way.[break][break][break]

Lifting his heavy head, he stares at the crowd of gathered grunts coldly, "BE WARNED. THE POKEMON IN YOUR POSSESSION ARE NOT PLAY THINGS. UNDERBOSS MERLINO CAN ATTEST TO THAT. ONE SLIP AND YOU'RE DONE. IF YOU DEMONSTRATE INADEQUATE COMMAND OF THESE SHADOW POKEMON, THEY WILL BE TAKEN BACK FROM YOUR HANDS— WARM OR COLD."[break][break][break]

DARKRAI

BEHIND HIM, Declan's shadow expands sharply. As if the boss came from The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, the stark darkness sprawls out from behind him like a mountain peak. Darkrai emerges from the umbral pith. Its white scarf billows in the sea winds.[break][break][break]

"OUR FRIEND HERE IS MISSING A PARTNER." Declan's body seems to shift and waver in the shadows as if he were sinking into that dark sea. "YOUR PARTICIPATION HERE WILL NOT GUARANTEE REWARD. I JUST WANT TO SEE WHAT YOU'RE ALL CAPABLE OF." Declan's Darkrai rises into the air and forms DARK VOIDS in its dark claws. "FOR THOSE CONFIDENT ENOUGH. CAPABLE ENOUGH."[break][break][break]

Declan casts his hand: "FIGHT MY DARKRAI WITH ALL YOUR FERVOR."

FLOETTE

INITIALLY, THE FLOETTE seems scared. However, it resigns itself to its duty. Quietly, the flower Pokemon settles in the cannon-like machine. As it enters its little slot, the front opens up like a blooming flower, revealing a sharp barrel that looks like a flower's stigma.[break][break][break]

"COTILLARD WAS KIND ENOUGH TO HELP US DEVELOP A MACHINE, CALLED AN 'ABSORBER'. THESE MACHINES WERE INSTRUMENTAL MEANS OF TRANSPORT FOR THE MEGALOPOLANS. USING THE ENERGY THESE MACHINES ARE ABLE TO SIPHON, THEY WERE ABLE REACH HOENN DESPITE THEIR LACK OF RESOURCES." Declan moves closer to the machine. "THEY REQUIRE BIOENERGY OF POKEMON TO FUNCTION. INFINITY ENERGY." A sharp shnnnk! noise traps the Floette in the machine: "THANKFULLY, WE HAVE LIMITLESS SUPPLY OF THAT."[break][break][break]

The Floette begins to scream. Visible pulses of energy sweat from the Pokemon and into the machine itself. With every vibrant pulse, the barrel charges with violent reverberations. Finally, the energy is discharged. It strikes the Shadow Lugia with fierce speed. A purple-blue cloud billows out from the creature and as the smoke dissipates into the salty air, the Lugia, less frenzied in gaze, reveals itself as unharmed.[break][break][break]

Nevertheless, something has changed. For the first time, the Lugia speaks— but no one but Cillian Quinn can hear. Telepathically, the Diving Pokemon speaks with a deep, comforting voice, but one that is twisted slightly by the poison running in its veins:[break][break][break]

"YOU HAVE BEEN KIND TO ME WHILE OTHERS HAVE NOT.[break]I FEEL CONFIDENT IN MY CHOICE OF STAYING BY YOUR SIDE."

gavin can teach any of their non-shadow pokemon or another's pokemon ONE SHADOW MOVE, even if they are not able in the pokemon colosseum franchise. trading these pokemon to others must be done icly and requires staff consultation.
gavin himself can conjure a SHADOW MIASMA that can be directed like a powerful gale thanks to shadow lugia's own dominion over the wind. within the SHADOW MIASMA, gavin and his shadow pokemon are camouflaged but not intangible. within the SHADOW MIASMA, gavin and his pokemon have raised EVASION and SPEED.
every time gavin and his pokemon faint another pokemon, he is able to POSSESS the pokemon with his SHADOW MIASMA. for a brief period of time, gavin is able to reanimate the pokemon and use its moves before the possession concludes. around the fainted pokemon's body, the SHADOW MIASMA will persist for a period of time.
all of gavin's shadow pokemon have INCREASED STRENGTH.
owned shadow pokemon will not be aggressive to gavin. furthermore, most shadow pokemon will be obedient to gavin as long as he can direct that aggression onto a target and if shadow lugia is on the field.

DECLAN CROSSES HIS ARMS as the Lugia flaps its mighty wings. A deep purple fog swirls around Gavin like a spectral mist. Pleased, the Rocket Boss's face is adorned with a handsome, content smile. He explains further, that the Shadow Lugia has been imparted with a particular lifeforce that has allowed it to take control of more of its faculties. However, this Lugia is strong enough to handle the brunt of the Absorber. If used on a weaker Pokemon in this current state of testing, it may kill it.[break][break][break]

XERNEAS REMNANTS

IN THE MACHINE, the Floette remains shriveled, like a husk. However, it quickly reanimates with a throbbing pulse of blue. Filled with life once more, this immortal Floette shivers back to full vibrant life. "THIS FLOETTE WAS CREATED BY RESIDUAL ENERGIES LEFT BY WHAT WE BELIEVE TO BE A XERNEAS' LIFE TREE. EVEN BEFORE ITS APPEARANCE IN LITTLEROOT, ITS BIOENERGY HAS SPREAD ACROSS THE REGION'S SOIL."[break][break][break]

Declan fishes out a BEAST BALL from his pockets and tosses it to a youthful looking man with blue hair. "priam conrad, AS A REWARD FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS IN LITTLEROOT, I WILL ENTRUST YOU WITH THE FRUITS OF YOUR LABOUR. ENCLOSED WITHIN THAT CAPSULE IS A GROWING GUZZLORD ONCE OWNED BY DUMONT." The previous Head Scientist had also been transferred to Kanto; in the mean time, Declan discretely searches for Xanders among the crowd.[break][break][break]

"HER BLUE MULCH IS ALSO YOURS TO USE AND EXAMINE AS A POSSIBLE LEAD. I WOULD LIKE YOU AND ANY OF YOUR ALLIES TO SEARCH FOR MORE ORGANIC REMNANTS OF XERNEAS. GROWING IVORY TREES. DO NOT DESTROY THEM. SECURE THEM FOR ROCKET INSTEAD." He casts his hand across the entire crowd.[break][break][break]

"AND THIS GOES FOR ANY OF YOU. SHOULD YOU FIND ANYTHING RELATED TO THIS INFINITY ENERGY, SECURE IT IN ROCKET'S NAME. IT IS PARAMOUNT THAT WE CAPITALIZE UPON THIS RESOURCE TO EXPAND OUR OPERATIONS." Declan looks to the sky— or perhaps, he looks further than that toward the stars. "THIS SPECIAL ENERGY WILL ALSO PROVE TO BE HELPFUL FOR BEAST oscar clayton AND HEAD SCIENTIST Lulu Flint AS THEY REBUILD NEW MAUVILLE IN OUR ORGANIZATION'S NAME."[break][break][break]

Several grunts have been hoisting cargo onto the smaller stage. They pry the hard wooden faces with crowbars to reveal cages. Within them, a myriad of Shadow Pokemon growl against the bars. However, upon sighting the Shadow Lugia in the air— they become subdued. Almost subservient. In these cages, a Shadow Dodrio, Shadow Alakazam, Shadow Mime Jr., and Shadow Gardevoir await their fates.[break][break][break]

"THESE SHADOW POKEMON WILL SURELY GO TO WASTE IF THEY HAVE NO TRAINER." Declan extends a hand toward the selection. "SHOULD YOU DESIRE ONE, NOW IS YOUR TIME TO SPEAK. TELL ME, HOW WILL THE ACQUISITION OF POWER HELP YOU SERVE ROCKET?"[break][break][break]

A BEACH BRIEFING

TEAM ROCKET HAS RETURNED. New Rocket, old Rocket. Such distinctions do not matter in the end. With Hoenn ablaze with unease, the crime syndicate meets within their headquarters. Those in remote locations listen via private streams or are relayed information later.[break][break][break]

This time, the meeting is held on a remote island. Their nautical headquarters is docked nearby. Declan Walsh, the Rocket Boss, stands before a large crowd. A small stage has been erected and is crowned with a microphone and stand. Beside Walsh, a small machine can be seen: one that looks incredibly similar to the ones responsible for opening Ultra Wormholes during the Ultra Beast War.[break][break][break]

In the distance, a loud HOWL from an Exploud can be heard. Another HOWL is heard closer, before a final bellow causes their island to rumble. The coast is clear.[break][break][break]

Declan speaks, his refined speech cutting like a blade across the beach's briny winds: "THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING. WE'RE ON THE CUSP OF A NEW AGE FOR HOENN— AND I AM GRATEFUL TO BRING YOU ALL WITH ME FOR THE JOURNEY." His cape billows in the soft breeze. "AS YOU MAY ALREADY KNOW, UNDERBOSS SINCLAIR AND MAEDA HAVE RETURNED TO KANTO. ALTHOUGH THE LEAGUE HAD INTERCEPTED THEIR VOYAGE, IT APPEARS THEY HAVE MANAGED TO ESCAPE."[break][break][break]

Reports of stolen "cargo" have made their way to Team Rocket's high offices. However, the most treasured possession has remained here under Walsh's command. It hides, quietly within the island's nooks and crannies.[break][break][break]

"MOVING ON, I WOULD LIKE TO FORMALLY WELCOME Chu-e Choi, Lulu Flint, AND @alek TO THEIR NEW STATIONS AS UNDERBOSS AND HEAD SCIENTISTS." He claps, prompting others to applaud also. "WITH RESHUFFLING COMES REDISTRIBUTION. WE MUST NOT LOSE MOMENTUM. WE MUST RECLAIM HOENN FROM THE LEAGUE'S UNFORGIVABLE INCOMPETENCE. THEIR GROSS MISHANDLING OF HOENN'S PEOPLE AND ITS POKEMON IS SHEER MALFEASANCE."[break][break][break]

Against the sandy shores, frothy waves groan across the grains. Wingull have long since been scared off of this rock. Instead, they perpetually cycle in the air above, unwilling to perch.[break][break][break]

"FIRST, I WOULD LIKE TO ASK UNDERBOSS Cillian Quinn FOR A FAVOUR," Declan gestures to him— and raises his hand. An oddly coloured Floette descends from a higher perch to land on his hand. "IF YOU WOULD BE SO KIND, PLEASE CALL UPON YOUR LUGIA."[break][break][break]

He smiles, small crow's feet on either side of his eyes.[break]After all, all Pokemon exist for the glory of Team Rocket.

a whirlpool of shadows sprawls out from the floor. the dark wisps crawl outward like vines, disrupting celebration and candor with its cursed expanse. from its center, a cloaked man appears. not entirely. only his bust. and as the man lifts his head, shadows cascading like deathly streams from his grey hair, everyone can see that it is the man of the hour. the birthday boy: declan walsh.

he opens his mouth:

"it's not my birthday."

before anyone can respond, he plunges back into the umbral pool. the shadowy wisps retreat and as the black swirl cycles into nothing, walsh is no where to be seen.

DECLAN ADDRESSES THE MORE UNIQUE INQUIRIES FIRST. as the submarine channels through the seas of hoenn, its corviknight steel and stealthed frame hidden to radar, the boss scans his audience calmly after acknowledging Cillian Quinn's gratitude.[break][break][break]

he answers Celeste Abbiati first, pulling off his rain wet gloves. "an abbiati in rocket? interesting. previously, a rocket member by the name of jayde cross had encountered it being infected by an ultra beast we now call nihilego. a few months ago, when olivia was councilwoman, she had been exploring ruins underneath sootopolis. the lugia had been taking shelter there. we took it for ourselves instead." he speaks, a boring melody to his voice, as if he is recounting directly from a page.[break][break][break]

he passes his gloves off to a grunt. without a word, the grunt moves toward declan's office, careful not to let the gloves drip on the metal floor.[break][break][break]

in response to oscar clayton and dominic sinclair, declan says, "you can trust me because i've worked in rocket for years— and have worked with some of you before in kanto. like the curiously absent admin, marie jules, underboss, dominic sinclair, who is simply returning to a position he has long held," declan rubs his hands together to warm them, "cadis will remain with us. you can actually visit him in the medical bay, room c46. a man as loyal as him deserves the best care under our eyes as an award for his service." as the submarine descends deeper, the dark water bubbles against the windows. "awards like the lugia. the blacephalon. awards for action, dedication. i refrain from adding darkrai to the list, for that was the pokemon's choice and not mine."[break][break][break]

OUR NEXT MOVE?

the darkrai's eyes watch from a web of shadow drenching a wall corner. such an ominous presence is not new to these rockets— for the pokemon stalks the submarine's shadows, especially at night. however, some will surmise correctly that such hauntings would cease with declan and dominic's partnerships.[break][break][break]

"as for our next move," declan says, "in the past, for hoenn and johto, rocket has attempted attacks from the outside-in. our next move, and what we have been doing currently, is to continue attacking from the inside." he begins to pull his raincoat off and another grunt assists him. "we prey upon the fact that dahlia goode is still new to her post, remind the public of her own acts in the blacephalon's attack, and the league's incompetence in general. plant seeds of doubt in the minds of the public, and naturally, destabilization will follow. criticize the league on the hoenn news network, where our plant, Finley Black, is working. scapegoat the league for hoenn's disasters and struggles; then again, they seem to be doing the majority of the work for us."[break][break][break]

AVATARS

he speaks as if this obvious, in a matter-of-factly lilt. however, he may simply be tired. constant travel and the solemn rainy weather seeps in as grey fatigue. "last but not least, the league has been compiling a list of avatars as well as those who could be dangerous figures, should they become avatars. one of our beasts, Emma Wolfe, has intel about one (cait alfric) now— but i would like everyone to keep their eyes out for other league-affiliated avatars. report them to us. they are meddlesome. dangerous to our cause as well. assassination is one thing, but painting them as risks to public safety is another. if we 'remove' them, we shift the blame on to dahlia goode and Olivia Abbiati's A.Q.U.A. (avatar quality and ultra beast action) initiative, first put forth by former councilwoman Olivia Abbiati, was initially devised as response and research team against ultra beast attacks; however, unbeknownst to the public and the rocket, the initiative has become a way for dahlia goode to track avatars.[break][break][break]

NEWS OF THE NEW ROCKET BOSS' ARRIVAL seeps through rocket communications quickly. their previous leadership, cadis von klaussner, has fallen ill. the nature of his sickness is mysterious— a secret hidden to many, save for a select few. on a rainy wednesday, the rocket boss is guided into the headquarters, water slick on his black rain coat.[break][break][break]

the submarine begins to submerge. under sour interior lighting, a small stage has been prepared for him in the main foyer. he marches toward it directly. no small talk. the interior lighting reveals his features: wizened, fatigued— but handsome to some, perhaps. the man waits for the whispers to stop, and then begins, voice loud enough without the intervention of some tinny microphone.[break][break][break]

"GOOD MORNING. IT IS A PLEASURE TO BE HERE. MY NAME IS DECLAN WALSH, AND I AM TAKING OVER HOENN'S ROCKET OPERATIONS FOR THE FORSEEABLE FUTURE." his voice booms richly. "I ASSURE YOU THAT THIS WILL BE THE LAST TRANSFER OF POWER HOENN'S ROCKET BRANCH WILL HAVE... FOR A VERY LONG TIME." the boss continues, his dark gray hair slicked back neatly. he speaks of his background as a kantonian boss, but is very curt. questions will be answered later.[break][break]

A PROMOTION

AFTERWARD, THE BOSS gestures toward a dark-haired man (one of many). his voice carries loudly across the room, echoing against the metal walls of the submarine.[break][break]

"IN TEAM ROCKET, WE DESIRE LOYALTY ABOVE ALL ELSE. THAT IS WHY OUR TAKEOVER OF KANTO WAS SO SUCCESSFUL— AND WHY HOENN WILL BE NEXT." his eyes center on dominic sinclair, "ACCORDING TO OUR REPORTS, DOMINIC SINCLAIR HAS DEMONSTRATED UTMOST DEDICATION TO ROCKET ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THUS, HE WILL TAKE THE VACANT UNDERBOSS SEAT TO CONDUCT OPERATIONS ALONGSIDE GAVIN MERLINO."[break][break]

behind him, the boss' shadow begins to deepen in shade. like a leak of ink, the umbral pool floods the floor as DARKRAI makes its reappearance. its cloak-like body billows ominously. silently, the pitch-black shape hovers forth. as it moves, declan's clothes fade darkly at their edges, as if assuming the qualities of a shadow.[break][break]

"YOU MAY ALREADY KNOW OF AVATARS. AMBASSADORS FOR POWERFUL POKEMON WHO HAVE BEEN LENT THEIR STRENGTHS. the darkrai rushes into dominic, seemingly disappearing into the underboss' body. from dominic's heels, the man's shadow spikes outward into the shape of the nightmarish pokemon before the shape vanishes without a trace.[break][break]

AFTERWARD, DECLAN SHIFTS TO ANOTHER DEVELOPMENT. he pinpoints Katherine Fairburne with a gloved hand as if summoning a light upon her.[break][break]

"KATHERINE FAIRBURNE HAS RECEIVED NOTICE THAT SHE WILL SOON BECOME HOENN'S GHOST-TYPE GYM LEADER." he surveys the crowd, cutting across necks with his gaze. "SUPPORT HER IN HER ENDEAVORS. SHE'LL BE GATHERING INTEL DURING HER SERVICE."[break][break]

he produces another beast ball. the boss references marie jules's efforts in the BLACEPHALON attack, Eva Dumont's deft command of the blacephalon in littleroot, and subsequent experiments made in order to tame the clownish alien held within that ball. he grants it to her, tossing it for her to catch as well.[break][break]

FERNANDO SILPH's Tapu Fini is able to conjure a powerful BLIZZARD. Stiff segments of ice form against the compromised sections of infrastructure. The ice affords the public enough time to evacuate the building. Eventually, Ruby Walker's pokemon's FUTURE SIGHT comes true. The building collapses. No vestige of the tree can be found in the rubble— although the body of a security guard will eventually be found stuffed in a wardrobe.[break][break][break]

The League's Ranger Headquarters compensates those that they've sent with a handsome amount of pokedollars. Any medical costs—for both human and Pokemon alike—are paid for. News in later days remark of beckett carlson's and Kaida Adachi's miraculous resurrection. The subsequent publicizing of their return to life causes a stir in the scientific community of Hoenn while illeana reyes and Lucas Lane investigate the poisoned sap's properties.[break][break][break]

ROCKET REMNANTS is a limited series of events created with the help of SILVY and SHIV. with emphasis on "limited series of events" you can think of this as a side story to the main. consisting of five events total, each different and more intricate than the last, each one will be done overtime! without the completion of one event, we cannot unlock the other. [break][break][break]

each event has its own set of rules, rewards, story, and villains! each event also possesses their own potential set of consequences and failures. the chance to fail is high for each event itself, risks growing per completion of an event; while, also, depending on the outcome. it should also be stated that each event has its own set number of participants, but everyone will be able to partake in--at most--one or two events!

since @valyx 's compliance with the league. in exchange for a lighter punishment, he exchanged valuable information with the league. information detailing a group of five individuals regarded as the NOTORIOUS FIVE. infamous among the rocket of silas's reign, they were said to harbor the potentiality to threaten this region. during SILAS BLACKWELL 's era, they weren't very good at seeing eye-to-eye and held a mutual agreement to not step on one anothers toes. like cadis von klaussner 's loyalty to his predecessor, their allegiance to silas makes cadis's, and all of old rocket, look like a sham.

when news of rockets disbandment came, as well as the discovery of silas, the infamous group gathered to form TEAM ROCKET REMNANTS. it would seem as though word of rockets new leadership didn't sit well with the five. they'd no intentions of accepting the new leadership of rocket nor their recent shift in motif. silas's influence on them was strong, even stronger than cadis's attempt at persuasion. their was no shifting their hearts.

though the five could not see eye-to-eye, they all had a common goal:

LEAGUE: with league only having information on them with what was given by @valyx . they knew what to expect, but did not know when to expect. they and the civilians of hoenn are the targets of rocket remnants goal: to create discourse and take the head of those who fell silas. and the five knew just who to look for.

ROCKET: with rocket under the radar. the notorious five have challenged cadis von klaussner and ALL OF ROCKET COMPANY, who follow him, to war. the notorious five have enough trust in their capabilities to take care of new rocket on their own, and thus won't wipe them out singlehandedly. which is their weakness: underestimation. cadis has relayed this information to rocket and has issued an order to play amongst those of league. until rocket remnants have made a move, they're to continue on with their current lives, duties, and goals. should any come to face those of rocket remnant, they are to engage on sight alongside league; leaving you all with a warning, and order, to not get caught, die, and return safely.

an untraceable message was sent to league headquarters. once it was opened, bomb-b's signature trademark would invade the system. a message, then, was played all throughout every monitor.

YOU'VE GOT BOMBED! a rocket remnant has brought the fight to your doorstep. a map was sent to the league and transferred by cadis to simon to pass over to all of rocket. upon the map there are four red dots, each symbolizing a transport vehicle.

the transport vehicles have all split apart, each heading a separate way to a different location. each vehicle is a delivery truck supposedly containing an assortment of powerful triacetone peroxide upon it, some stronger than the other. if each vehicle is not stopped there will be horrific casualties to come; league's reputation and the safety of civilians are on the line.

shafts of powerful energy, emboldened by proper preparation, fire from @valyx's porygon-z and mega gengar. they beat into hoopa's slumbering wall of muscle, alongside Emma Wolfe's noivern's devastating meteor.[break][break][break]

illeana reyes's eevee is able to land a flurry of stars. each stellate shuriken bursts against the hoopa's fur; however, her ninetales' inferno fails to meet its destination. the eruption of flames is caught by a floating ring. the pillar of fire surges into it— and reappears through another. cait alfric's infernape's flare blitz meets the flames of illeana reyes's ninetales instead. in a spectacular torch, both attacks are nullified.[break][break][break]

draconian claw marks tear into the hoopa's hide thanks to Blaine Jones's garchomp. however, it's minervan friend finds its dream eater sucked into another ring. the red eyes of noctowl reappear in a hoop right before evan fader. the bartender finds his body shifting, the pain in his disfigured hands intensified by the assault. however, Laurence Anderson's pokemon rescues evan fader from friendly-fire death. in particular, Laurence Anderson's ampharos' light screen manifests itself and blocks the psychic haunt.[break][break]

simultaneously, evan fader's pokemon perform a beautifully choreographed offensive. his lilgant's magical leaves carry the toxic spikes, embedding them into the unbound hoopa like burrs. hoopa's veins glow purple underneath its bluish fur before being caked in mud bombs.[break][break][break]

Bailey Cooper's pokemon join in tandem. as they navigate the obstacle course of rings, several of her pokemon are able to breach the hoopa's defenses. her blastoise smashes into the hoopa's groin with its skull while her seemingly invincible togekiss strikes alongside her decidueye and tsareena. however, her kommo-o's powerful charge leads it into a ring accidentally at the apex of its strike; the dragon launches itself from an entirely new ring. a ring right before Morgan Drake. a bone-breaking sky uppercut buries itself into Morgan Drake's body and snaps his spine in two. kapow.[break][break][break]

while kyle lopez smeargle is able to sketch the dark void successfully, not every one of his pokemon's attacks hit their target. although his togepi's extrasensory is able to reach the hoopa thanks to its psychic capabilities, his aerodactyl's hyper beam disappears into a ring... as Noelle Lane grieves, her typhlosion, slowbro and hydreigon instigate their barrage. their mounting siege reveals the discipline of a dragon clan member as their fierce attacks batter the hoopa's weakening figure.[break][break][break]

kyle lopez's aerodactyl's hyper beam reappears from a floating ring. the raucous scream of an incoming hyper beam deafens Noelle Lane's ears. with his fading breath, Lucas Lane issues his orders to his unown and tyrantrum to protect her— and manage to just in time. although his unown immediately disintegrates, his tyrantrum is able to take the full brunt of the hyper beam. it's as if the rings amplify the attack's potency, and the tyrantrum, after a resigned roar, falls into a limp heap.[break][break][break]

@n0ble's tactics pay off. with his togekiss' ability to improve his metagross' accuracy, the hyper beam is able to narrowly avoid a hovering ring. if his metagross had not received the proper assistance from its peer, the hyper beam would have cored persephone amavi, herself. persephone amavi's own pokemon are able to strike the hoopa, flashes of pink and ghostly shadows adding to the color of battle.[break][break][break][break]

AN AWAKENING:

the battlefield is perfumed with scales and pollen. AYAME FUJIWARA's companions strike true, except for one. as cadis von klaussner's ditto-solgaleo and gallade weave in between the rings to reach their objective, cadis von klaussner' lungs fill with the silver dust of AYAME FUJIWARA's beautifly. the silver wind comes from a ring above the two, and as cadis von klaussner attempts to breathe...[break][break][break]

however, FERNANDO SILPH's tapu fini is the wild card. waters surge from its presence, and a towering tsunami wave surges forth. it smashes into everyone. the immense force of a berserk alolan deity can be felt in the strength of the flood. cadis von klaussner is swept off his feet alongside AYAME FUJIWARA. the two disappear under the surface. cadis von klaussner's addled lungs struggle before allowing cold alolan water to rush in. he drowns with a fire in his lungs.[break][break][break]

everyone else and their pokemon are swept too. the waves carry them into rings, forcing them to teleport into various locations within the surge of water. in a disorienting loop that forces them in and out and in and out of portal-rings, many begin to drown. others are swept right off the edge and plummet to their seeming deaths.[break][break][break]

AYAME FUJIWARA is able to open the bottle in time, and as she thanks her fallen comrade Blake Wright and the darkrai presiding over their battle, she's swept away too. however, she keeps her hand above water. the same hand that possesses the bottle. after the final attacks hit their mark alongside the darkrai's own, the hoopa, weakened and shattered awake, begins to disappear into the jar with a horrid cry.[break][break][break]

as the hoopa begins to disappear, the nightmare begins to fade. many wake up with a jarring jerk, as if they had fallen and hit their head after they had been sweeped off the stage. others wake with a gasp, drenched in sweat and imagined brine. as the realm of nightmare frees darkrai from the prison it had been lured in to, it makes its presence known to those who had assisted in its liberation.[break][break][break]

in the wake of Thomas Benoit's passing, his loyal partners launch an assault on hoopa. their flurry of bug-type attacks pierce into the musclebound flesh of their haunting hunter. leaves surge forth like fall winds. evan fader's lilligant summons a leaf storm to attack the hoopa, careful not to burn in the flames forged by @bryony's charizard and its fire pledge. @valyx's mega gengar smiles widely, delivering a dazzling gleam alongside its kaiju-friend's stone edge. in the mean time, Laurence Anderson' ampharos and lucario move to evan fader in order to comfort his agony.[break][break]

several others join the fight. alongside a torterra, Blaine Jones's ludicolo unleashes an energy ball alongside its partners as Morgan Drake's fraxure digs its empowered talons into the hoopa's flesh. at the same time, Bailey Cooper's togekiss and blastoise attempt to blind the burning hoopa as the behemoth groans in tortured cries. with it's LUCID DREAMER ability ripped from its form, the hoopa buckles and falters as his feet are targeted too. AYAME FUJIWARA's ribombee furthers the onslaught with clouds of pollen.[break][break]

as Balder Schwartz's solgaleo delivers warp portals, the sun lion travels through some of its own. in a taunting mimicry of the hoopa, the lion reappears above, delivering a devastating sunsteel strike against the hoopa's head. the resulting attack blooms in a dramatic flare of light; at the same time, several things happen.[break][break]

cadis von klaussner' ditto transforms into solgaleo flawlessly, roaring with its signature vacant smile. with its long reach, the gallade slices into the hoopa with leaf blade as a hyper beam from kyle lopez's smeargle strikes the star-shaped rim of the creature's stomach hole. it causes the metal to whistle with a high-pitched scream.[break][break]

as CHANCELOR MCQUEEN orders his fighters to batter the dreaming denizen. as his conkeldurr and hawlucha deliver severe blows to the beast, a hyper beam from kyle lopez's smeargle strikes the star-shaped rim of the creature's stomach hole, causing the metal to whistle with a high-pitched scream. FERNANDO SILPH's empowered tapu fini manifests into a gargantuan titan. channeling an immense power, the tapu fini collides with the hoopa as it retaliates. a massive shockwave blows high-speed winds back as the combined attacks of Balder Schwartz's solgaleo and FERNANDO SILPH's tapu fini connect. they lock up. like wrestlers, they stay at a standstill.[break][break]

in a dramatic follow up, CHANCELOR MCQUEEN orders his fighters to batter the dreaming denizen. as his conkeldurr and hawlucha deliver severe blows to the beast, a hyper beam from kyle lopez's smeargle strikes the star-shaped rim of the creature's stomach hole, causing the metal to whistle with a high-pitched scream. Noelle Lane's slowbro launches drapion toward the hoopa, the iron tail striking squarely on the hoopa's face above her typhlosion's inferno charring the creature's gut.[break][break][break]

it's the tipping point. the hoopa stumbles back with heavy, clumsy stomps.[break][break][break][break]

THE CULLED HUMANS:

at the same time, the rings continue to chase their prey. cait alfric's attempt to outrun the rings nearly gets her killed as her pursuer appears and reappears; however, she's able to barely evade them. unfortunately, @bryony's charizard suffers from the glare of the dazzling gleams and flash cannon. as bryony and her charizard barrel around, a loop manages to catch up with them and close around both of their bodies.they fall in their respective two pieces. abandoned on the ground, @bryony's snorlax is sliced into ribbons by the loops continually closing in and out of the chubby creature.[break][break]

@n0ble is able to barely escape thanks to a potent meteor mash; furthermore, evan fader is rescued from both plummeting to his death and the rings thanks to kyle lopez's meteoric aerodactyl.[break][break][break]

even with Balder Schwartz's solgaleo's portal nearby, Natsuki Ryuunosuke suffers the same fate. as she delivers her zoroark toward AYAME FUJIWARA in order for her to open the bottle, the ground opens up underneath her. she slips downward, and the loop closes at her waist, slicing her in half. Lucas Lane rushes toward FERNANDO SILPH. as his tyrantrum struggles with the loop, it is eventually overpowered despite almost snapping its perimeter in half. before he is able to reach him, Lucas Lane feels his upper body slip from his waist and hit the cold floor.[break][break]

weighted by loss, Blake Wright commands cadis von klaussner' ditto to strike at the rings coming toward him. the transformed ditto is able to defend against rings to some extent, but the ditto's lack of experience with its new legendary form is apparent. as it grasps the ring with its maw, it realizes its teeth disappear into the ring's hole. it lets go- and as Blake Wright helps AYAME FUJIWARA open the bottle, he finds himself cut in two.[break][break]

as blood flavors the air of their battle, the council member realizes his fate is sealed. with his dramatic last resort successfully manifesting itself, the loop catches up with him and slices him diagonally, so that his upper torso slides off the fleshy ramp of his lower parts. seeing Noelle Lane vulnerable from the other loops as her chansey defends her, CHANCELOR MCQUEEN orders his empoleon to strike at their pursuer with its aura of ice. despite its training, the ring is able to swallow the empoleon and slice the penguin in half.[break][break]

CHANCELOR MCQUEEN is prepared. his years of training, conditioned body, honed reflexes... they culminate in an auto-pilot of sheer martial art prowess. despite being in the nightmare realm, his fighting is unmatched. in a stunning display of combat, the fighter is able to deftly strike at the ring's rims, casting its stubborn trajectory back over and over and over. he would have continued to deflect it; however, the ring that slices through FERNANDO SILPH pursues Noelle Lane and in an act of sacrifice, CHANCELOR MCQUEEN will be able to protect her at the cost of his own life.[break][break][break]

the rest are able to successfully fend off their respective rings.[break][break][break][break]

THE CULLED POKEMON:

the hoopa recalls its rings. two are a melting red, thanks to illeana reyes's ninetales and its flamethrower. with a thundering howl, the hoopa berates its dream's intruders. from its central hole, a ghastly beam strikes through the tapu fini's guardian form. afterward, it enacts a HYPERSPACE FURY, the rings vanishing and emerging from thin air. its fists and borrowed limbs strike at the pokemon closest to it, squashing their bodies to the floor in bloodied pulps or heaps of broken bones.[break][break][break]

Emma Wolfe's noivern is able to escape thanks to its u-turn; however, the following pokemon are not so lucky: Noelle Lane's drapion, FERNANDO SILPH's golurk and aegislash, CHANCELOR MCQUEEN's conkeldurr and hawlucha, Thomas Benoit's ripper (not his galvantula!), @valyx's tyranitar, Morgan Drake's fraxure, Blaine Jones's torterra, and @bryony's snorlax. the pokemon who were close to the hoopa, such as mega gengar, tapu fini and solgaleo are able to survive thanks to their general hardiness; yet, they are close to falling too.[break][break][break][break]

DARKRAI FREED:

as Blake Wright's vision blurs, he captures a glimpse of AYAME FUJIWARA's bottle opening. as the spiky cork is pulled, its sharp horns slicing deep into her soft skin, a mass of shadow erupts from the sinister jar. darkrai casts itself out, expanding into a fully-fledged figure of shadow. its eye burns bright. with a vengeful snarl, the darkrai raises its hands, summoning a massive purple orb of energy in its hands.[break][break]

the hoopa takes note. visibly panicked, the hoopa sends its rings outward. several more flow from the central ring in its torso and flood the battlefield. as the rings begin to reverberate with the warnings of something to come, the darkrai launches its DARK VOID toward the creature, flying through the rings and causing them to spin in place. the hoopa is struck and as the purple energy consumes its brawny build, snoring... begins to echo throughout the plane.[break][break][break][break]

YOUR FINAL ATTACK:

after casting a thankful glance toward Blake Wright and AYAME FUJIWARA, the darkrai repositions itself, drawing its lanky limbs back as if summoning an ancient umbral power. that familiar, broken voice, the darkrai howls a decree: "WAKE HIM UP."[break][break]

as the shadowy spectre charges its own attack, the opportunity to defeat the hoopa awaits the survivors; however, the battlefield is littered with countless rings. should you strike at the hoopa for one last assault, make sure you aim well.[break][break][break][break]

THE LOOPS:

desperation stirs action. Thomas Benoit's scizor dashes for the gray loop after its dramatic mega evolution; its wings beat rapidly, delivering the metal pokemon's BULLET PUNCHES.[break][break]

after tossing @n0ble's haxorus, a metagross joins in the assault. Natsuki Ryuunosuke's zorua and sableye assist, clinging on to the loop's perimeter as they strike at its vibrating rim. after kyle lopez's aerodactyl and its IRON HEAD, their combined efforts are enough. the loop reverts to a smaller size, slicing the spilling train and preventing the rest of its cars from falling.[break][break][break]

[break][break][break]

scrambling on to the purple loop's side, haxorus latches on with its talons. the guzzlord's HYPER BEAM fires from the ring with a deafening scream. unfaltering in its assault, the haxorus hacks at the loop's brim alongside @valyx's mega ampharos and Emma Wolfe's noivern. they are able to deliver it back to the hoopa despite the MISTY TERRAIN. unfortunately, the two dragons can not stop the beam in time.[break][break][break][break]

THE HYPER BEAM:

@altmight consciousness demands his body to feast. his stretching maw clamps on to his cut arm and begins to chew; it's an odd experience. tasting your own flesh. like foot tacos.[break][break][break]

as his brain and palate is transfixed on the hors d'oeuvre of his appendage, he does not realize his sudden transference of position. thanks to Noelle Lane's chansey, the zombie-hulk can not escape the sheer obliteration of the hoopa's attack. @bryony's charizard and persephone amavi's decidueye strike from afar and condemn him to death.[break][break][break]

[break][break][break]

the head ranger, Laurence Anderson, with his pokemon, attempt to shield themselves from the attack. despite swampert's valiant efforts, the beam surges through everyone in his party. next, Thomas Benoit hits the floor. hard. his mega scizor peers back and watches in horror as the beam passes through his trainer with numbing nonchalance. the radiant, Balder Schwartz, summons solgaleo; however, it's too late. in the process, the beam catches up to him and tears through his brawny body. his solgaleo emerges from the blast, charred- but barely clinging on.[break][break][break]

[break][break][break]

@valyx watches as his gengar attempts to protect him and his mega ampharos. the beam comes forth, phases through the gengar--- but the beam does not stop. it rushes through the mega ampharos' COTTON GUARD, and renders the man asunder. next, Emma Wolfe, her araquanid, and her lycanroc brace themselves for the imminent beam. tragedy falls upon them too as her noivern peers back to see its friends become consumed by the attack.[break][break][break]

thanks to the decidueye's overwatch, the owl is able to barely scoop up cadis von klaussner and his gallade with its BRAVE BIRD; however, its wing is caught in the blast... gallade is able to SKILL SWAP as persephone amavi's gardevoir launches a potent MOONBLAST. the gallade will understand immediately, however, that it can not use the ability it has inherited... the ditto attempts to transform, but it simply becomes one hoopa hand and forearm (or one one of the disembodied limbs should you desire it).[break][break][break]

in the mean time, Lucas Lane is able to snuggle himself with his unown in the trench made by ANCIENT POWER. perhaps, it was the placebo effect, but the VICTORY STAR might've been good luck...[break][break][break]

[break][break][break]

as @bryony, Noelle Lane and @n0ble soar overhead with Bailey Cooper and her recalled pokemon, FERNANDO SILPH, Noelle Lane, cait alfric, and CHANCELOR MCQUEEN attempt to cast their PROTECTIVE ABILITIES with their menagerie of pokemon. as the barriers raise against the incoming beam, the trainers behind them will be able to witness calamity. the beam violates several barriers and their respective pokemon, consuming them in blinding light and energy.[break][break][break]

THE TRAIN:

[break]
as the train careens toward her, AYAME FUJIWARA attempts to lucid dream... sadly, it's not her dream. quickly, she realizes this and before the first car crushes her skull, Blake Wright pushes himself and the girl out of the way. in its attempts to help, the noibat sacrifices itself. for a brief moment, tears well up in its eyes before it surrenders to its fate, splattering into a puddle of blood against the train like a letter's wax seal.[break][break][break]

[break][break][break]

the two fall and land on the stage, the bottle still unopened. Natsuki Ryuunosuke is able to assist safely, her umbreon and zoroark quickly dashing towards them on the stage, for the beam has passed.[break][break][break]

evan fader launches himself off the floating stones. he hangs on the edge of the platform, but the train slams into the rocks. the cars detach. one car runs over his hands, and disfigures them hideously, breaking fingers into horrid stumps. the pain causes him to let go- and he begins to fall toward the neverending abyss; how can he save himself?![break][break][break]

heroically, Blaine Jones is able to rescue illeana reyes from certain death. after he scoops her from the train's path, the two realize that illeana reyes would have faced the same fate as Blake Wright's pulped noibat. Blaine Jones's noctowl hoots, attacking the hoopa with DREAM EATER as the ninetales successfully BURNS their nightmarish predator. [break][break][break]

THOSE WHO DIE:

@altmight, Thomas Benoit, Balder Schwartz, Laurence Anderson, Emma Wolfe, and @valyx do not die immediately. the pain exists. their veins burn. their brain fights the throbbing pulse of incoming death, causing the limbs to tingle feverishly. as @valyx's gengar watches forlornly, his mega ampharos, severely weakened, but alive, cradles their trainer in its arms as he watches the man fade away into dust.[break][break][break]

Laurence Anderson's ampharos pops out of its ball to witness the death of its trainer too. likewise, Balder Schwartz's solgaleo stands watch, allowing its avatar to pass... Emma Wolfe also succumbs to her fate before her noivern. the galvantula scuttles toward its trainer, Thomas Benoit, and witnesses his solemn demise.[break][break][break][break]

after the beam passes, Lucas Lane's drampa, Noelle Lane's blastoise, CHANCELOR MCQUEEN's machamp, FERNANDO SILPH's smeargle, and cait alfric's goodra face similar deaths. their bodies begin to disintegrate as they slump into funeral winds of dust. as cadis von klaussner' decidueye soars, its struck wing begins to disintegrate into dust, sending the undercover rocket boss into a dramatic plummet toward the ground with his team.[break][break][break]

HOOPA'S RETALIATION:

kyle lopez's smeargle sketches a HYPER BEAM, but this next attack seems even more dangerous. with an agitated roar, the flames of illeana reyes's ninetales burning his body, he summons multiple loops with a stretch of his hands. they disappear in mid-air and suddenly reappear closer to all the surviving trainers and begin to chase them.[break][break][break]

one loop demonstrates its intent by moving over a floating stone and closing, bisecting the stone into two. the loops pursue you all, occasionally disappearing and reappearing in overwhelming angles to attempt to cut your bodies in half.[break][break][break]
