getting the roster of hoenn's edgiest and most angsty of characters to meet up in a single room was going to be a feat no matter how priam looked at it. he takes up the challenge with the goal of accomplishing such exploit with an appropriate text message to get everyone in the underwater rocket base for the year end celebration.

the bait has been set. priam takes advantage of everyone's lack of general knowledge about the rocket boss' personal information and expects everyone that wants to be in the good side of the boss to be present. he can only use his name as assurance for these hardened criminals who know not to trust anything blindly.

the office has been embellished for the occasion, elaborate traditional kanto-inspired decorations beautifying the otherwise boring and monochrome office of the boss by priam himself. traditional dishes were served by a catering service, such as mochi and alomomola sashimi, alongside dished a few rockets have brought. drinks weren't excluded.

with everyone in the room, priam shuts the door close behind his back. these people were forced to socialize with themselves and have a party now, make things welcoming for their boss when he comes. he grins as he watches these people do their thing.

It was Chu-e's first time on the sub, which had been quite a big damned shock to learn about (thanks whoever taught him about it!), and he already fucking hated it. Being on top of the water was one thing... being below it was a whole other story. After dropping off his selection of goodies, which he had worked quite hard on thank you, Chu-e had just grabbed the trash can and sat down, looking much too green in the gills. Fuck the ocean.

But he was anything if not industrious even when clinging to a trash can like a lifeline. He also refused to let anyone hang out in corners on their own, cause they might have been a group of edgy fucks but that was lame as hell. His eyes scanned the room, searching... ah! Okay, that kid looked like a good target. Standing by the door. Smiling. Super edgy. The rest of the people in the room were just imaged, faceless blobs ~~because no one else has posted yet~~. He was perfect.

So Chu-e approached priam conrad and practically grabbed him by the sleeve, trying to drag him (and Priam was no doubt larger and stronger than him) over to the table of food and shove him at the delicate little cakes he had made. He looked a lot like a PTA mom trying to bully someone into buying the stuff she had made from the bake-sale.

"You're too skinny!'' He didn't look skinny. "Eat this! It's a vanilla bean cake with a cheri compote! Aren't they cute? They look like Macargo!" They did.. kinda. Chu-e wasn't exactly a food artist yet as badly as he tried. His voice was a little too loud, on purpose, trying to stir up some conversation.

Gavin's away from their underwater HQ when he gets the text through Rocket's group channel, and he lets out a soft huff of laughter as he reads the text. He had questions — Did Walsh celebrate birthdays? How had Priam known his birthday? — but one thing was for certain.

There's no way he's missing this.

He brings a couple bottles from his personal selection of liquor, his favored Galarian scotch alongside a high-end Kantonian rice wine. He's pouring a glass on the rocks when he notes priam conrad guarding the door, then promptly being kidnapped by non other than Chu-e Choi and dragged over to the table Gavin's leaning against.

"Ah, so you made these, Chu-e." If he squints, he can see the intended resemblance to the volcanic snails. He lifts one off the plate and bites into it, humour in his voice as he adds, "I do hope none of these are poisoned. Hey, Priam."

He washes down the bite of cake with a swig of scotch, lifting his glass to Priam in greeting. "Was this a ploy to make us play nice, then? Clever. Wouldn't miss it for the world; is it really Walsh's birthday?"

Where Gavin is the one with the sense to bring actual gifts with actual meaning, Emma opts for the easy or lazy way out. She's loaded like $50 onto a pre-paid visa and called it a day. She writes a little note reading 'happy birthday' with her name signed somewhere on the bottom and the dollar amount, but it's nothing overly personal.[break][break]

When they arrive there is only the slightest bit of commotion as the door behind them closes. She can see that it's Priam who locked them in, and she lifts her own glass of scotch to her lips without saying a word. [break][break]

The silence, if there had even been any in a room so densely packed with blank faces, is promptly rectified when Chu-e shows up to drag Priam over to the food booth table. He proudly announces his decadent cakes and Magcargo shaped treats. Until then, she hadn't fancied sampling anything, her drink was settling her stomach just fine. [break][break]

But now that Chu-e had made such a fuss, and Gavin was picking something off the plate.. she found herself cradling the makeshift Magcargo in both hands.[break][break]

while a smile remains on his face, the confusion starts to manifest as he starts wondering why he was the one dragged away by the former rocket beast. he stares at the cupcakes, unsure of how to react, when Cillian Quinn interjects for him.

"h-hey! i work out every day!" he finally gets out of his mouth for Chu-e Choi. despite even after denying the allegations, he takes one of the cakes. he eats the magcargo from the face first to show dominance in case someone does the psychology thing.

he turns to gavin, still chewing, and answers his inquiries. "it'ch a shurprishe," he tells gavin before swallowing his cake. "it's a party for mister walsh. i tried asking him to come, so he should be here if he ain't a snub!"

his words remain vague, although technically, none of them were lies. he grins at him before grabbing another of chu-e's cake and escaping to prevent interrogation.

"here! chu-e's cake!" he tells the next rocket he sees as he aggressively hands them one.

Oscar had just cleared his schedule for the day when he got the text. It took him way less time to finis his mission for the day then he thought it would, so the promise of something else to do was very welcome. Especially if it concerned Priam's shenanigans, which Oscar had grown to look forward to. He went home and showered of the poke-blood before putting on his finest casual-wear and headed for the sub.

On the way he picked up a fine gift for Mr. Walsh: a pinata that looked like commissioner dahlia goode. He wasn't sure if he would appreciate the humor, but Oscar knew the others would probably get a kick out of it. When he arrived he noted that some familiar faces had made it in before him. Understandable with the shower delay. He decided to greet priam conrad first, it was his scheme after all.

"Yo Priam, thanks for saving my night. Uh should I hang this up or just lean it somewhere?" Oscar held up the Dahlia pinata before leaning in to whisper, "It's full of tequila infused gummy worms. Don't tell anyone, it's funnier that way." He gave the pinata a pat on the head, this was sure to get the party rolling.

An invitation to Declan's surprise birthday party was certainly not something the admin expected to ever receive. The man struck him as the kind to celebrate in solitude. Perhaps with a consort, or his family... or both. But priam conrad appeared to care enough about their boss to organize one. Now the question remained whether Declan Walsh cared enough to attend it.[break][break]

Setting his papers down, the ambassador reached down under his mahogany desk to retrieve the sleek black cellphone stashed beneath it. With an eye scan and the entry of a ten digit password, the Rotom within it came alive and peered up at him as he accessed its GPS. The submarine HQ was just off the coast of Rustboro today... how convenient.[break][break]

And, as fate would have it, Remiel had the perfect gift for his boss, sitting on the cabinet across from his desk.[break][break]

Dressed in a navy blue submariner rib roll neck sweater (appropriate, given the setting) and a pair of pleated black pants with shoes, the spectacled Galarian entered the man's spacious office holding a gift basket at mid-torso with his right hand. A brief, indifferent glance around the room revealed a few familiar faces. Namely, Cillian Quinn and Valerio Dachev . Though he'd also met Chu-e Choi less than a week ago, who, much to his chagrin, had put him to work cleaning his house.[break][break]

Stepping forward past the crowd of nameless grunts and engineer staff, the admin turned to and fro in search of a table to set his gift upon. He stops when he fails to locate it, presuming the Declan's office desk to be the next best option. Just before he steps to it, however, he turns to take note of the woman standing to his right. The Macargo-style treat cradled in her hands earns itself a suspicious look from him. But doesn't impede him from asking his next question. "Pardon, but do you have any idea where I can place this?"[break][break]

He holds up the basket: it is a neatly assorted collection of Calcifet wine, cigars, a shaving kit, and... a sleek glass case containing what appears to be the original prototype master ball from Kanto? A teacup sitting in front of it, on a soft pile of gift basket stuffing, comes to life. It greets the woman (Emma Wolfe) with a tinkle of ghostly laughter, rising into the air and tilting itself in a bow.[break]

he grins at Valerio Dachev when he starts to cast suspicion on the pastry. "if i randomly fall over later, you'd know it is!" priam doubts it, and the optimism in his tone shows.

the moment his hands got on the present for walsh's supposed birthday, priam gets tempted to try it out. for the sake of keeping up with the show, he stops himself from giving in to the temptation.

"i want one of these!" he exclaims. "last time they had these was johto, and i was never allowed to go to johto."

priam quickly shifts his attention to oscar clayton when he approaches. he eyes the pinata he brings in. this would be perfect to break at the end of the new year's countdown, when everyone else is too drunk to observe their decorum.

"You try and poison your boss once and it's all anyone talks about." Did anyone else other than Cillian Quinn know about that? Probably not. Everyone else was just being RUDE. At least priam conrad seemed to be enjoying, or at least eating, his hard work. Maybe he would be his new favorite.

"Getting everyone drunk? I want in. I've always wanted to see Emma Wolfe get sloppy." He grabs for Valerio Dachev and oscar clayton's arms. Never mind that he didn't know Oscar that well, he was quickly trying to tug them both in the direction of the alcohol. "I bet we could get some shots set up easy. Make them go down like water."

Bryan had gotten a text from random number for rocket on his burner. A celebration for mr walsh? Well that was interesting, but Bryan at least knew it was safe since it was going to be in the headquarter. He decided to say fuck it, being on his good side for getting him a nice present couldn't hurt. It would be more of a question of could Bryan really give up his fanciest bottle of liquor? In all honesty it wasn't even that expensive of a bottle but it was Bryan's absolute favorite type of whiskey. [break][break]

He rolled up to the man's office and opened the door, he saw conrad and Ji-hoon. "Ah, well well. If I knew who rocket kept for company were people I met on the street." he said casually walking in and sipping on some whiskey straight from the bottle "I'd have brought more liquor eh? Conrad? Ji-hoon?" he said smirking to himself a bit as he used air quotation marks. He walked over to check out the decorations and he let out a whistle "Ya'll went to town on the decorations hm?" as he pulled out a fresh bottle of whiskey and laid it besides the other presents. Bryan also gave a small nod and a wave to Remiel "Good job recently with the gardevoirs by the way." he said giving a small peace sign to him.

The clink of a whiskey bottle against a table drew Remiel's attention. Some of the attendees shifted away by coincidence to reveal bryan delarosa 's familiar face— and the table the admin had been looking for this entire time. Bidding the woman adieu with a polite nod, Remiel lowers his gift basket and makes way to his subordinate's location as he is greeted with a wave.[break][break]

"We wouldn't have acquired as many without you there to cast the balls, Delarosa. You follow instruction quite well." He retorted. Bryan had also proven to be a bit of a loudmouth when angelo vestri had antagonized him verbally. Regardless, the man's benefit to the organization seemed to far exceed any personal faults at present.[break][break]

After setting down the basket amidst the other gifts, Remiel sighs before shifting his cobalt-coloured eyes towards the whiskey bottle. "Is that for Declan... or for us? I don't see a bow on it." He inquiries, looking back up at the man. Perhaps they could join the others, and see what other resources they had. The royal much preferred an Old Fashioned to drinking a whiskey neat. Gavin finds himself surprised by the turn-out; he knew priam conrad was popular but he hadn't realized the kid had enough pull to drag the mismatched group of idiots that were Rocket together. He'd arrived alongside Emma, of course, and this seems right up Chu-e's alley, but he's more surprised by the presence of Remiel Calcifet in particular.

Gavin laughs as Valerio Dachev inquires after poison, shooting Chu-e Choi a knowing look of amusement. No, he hadn't told Valerio. He'd told only Emma Wolfe. Somehow, that made it funnier.

"I'm sure the lot of us drunk and rowdy in his office will be an excellent surprise for Walsh." Though his tone is dry, eyebrows raised, Gavin makes no move to stop Chu-e and Priam from encouraging the others. He sips lazily at his own drink with no intention to get drunk. "Make sure no one trips over that pinata. It's a work of art."

His amber gaze settles upon one bryan delarosa, whom he's never met but who seems popular among the others.

"Delarosa, is it? Gavin Merlino. We've not met."

the kidnapping of both valerio and oscar, along with the entry of bryan delarosa, gets priam to switch his attention to him quickly. he's quick to snap at the accusation, noticing the tone that has been used for the greeting.

"hey! conrad's my real name, unlike ji-hoon! who's ji-hoon?" the scowl quickly melts to a smile. "i knew i saw your face somewhere!"

priam adds more when he hears praise about decoration. "that's me! all me!" he adds quickly as a note before melding in with the crowd.

the more these people interact with each other without his interference, the better. distraction is what everyone needs until priam manages to charge up his ultimate move.
