Vanilla perked her head up at the sound of the door opening. Out stepped a kid her age, just stomping towards the exit without even saying anything. No celebration, no cursing, nothing. It didn't seem to bode well for her, as the teen gave a worried expression. Proxii flickered over towards her, his wings flickering back and forth to give the illusion of flight. "Maybe he was just in a hurry somewhere?" Before Vanilla could reply, the gym leader himself would step out from the door. The Sheriff of Dewford and all around cool guy among the gym leaders, Navy! Her eyes lit up with excitement and her demeanor changed. "It's you! Wow, this is such a huge honor!" She nerded out as he'd get that look in his eyes and speak again.

He knew what Vanilla had posted online.

Her cheeks immediately flushed as she pouted at Navy, as if she had been through this little event time and time again. "I didn't know it was a dating app! It said that you could look for friends and likeminded people! How was I supposed to know a bunch of adults are using it for love?!" She fussed more and more as the two would quickly make their way into the room alongside him. The three gather into the room as the girl took the sights of the room. It wasn't as attractive or extravagant as some of them were. Kind of mundane and more fit for usage rather than aesthetic. "Huh, pretty cool battling arena here. It kind of looks like that cake you made last week." he snickered to Vanilla.

A thwap came from the teen's hand to her phone. "Only because somebody was too busy trying to look up information on a Drapion rather than keep track of the time." They bickered back and forth until Navy would speak up again, to which Vanilla would have an answer to his question. Nothing that she hadn't answered before.

"I tried being a baker since my entire family works as them across Galar. It, uh, didn't work out. But I do love Pokemon battling, even if I'm bad at it. And I'm looking for somebody that went missing. If I can get my name out in the world, I'm sure he'll find out and get back in contact with me."

Proxii had flicked open his camera feature before he mentioned the rules against cameras in the gym. He frowned, begrudgingly flicking his camera back up.

"Do people come in wanting to be trainers for the wrong reasons? Is that why you asked me about it?"

Navy

Another day, another test placing itself before the girl. This time, Vanilla entered inside of the Dewford Gym and walked towards the registration desk. Unlike the previous gym outing, she was feeling a bit more confident in this arena than the Mauvile Gym. On one hand, she wouldn't be soaring above the skies like she still hadn't gotten over, even after getting de-aged about 20 years so. Comparatively, just a traditional 2v2 was going to be a nice and somewhat normal battle between her and the gym leader here, Navy. Proxii, her Rotomphon and living RotomDex, would hover behind her as she'd check in at the front desk.

"Vanilla Kingsley, checking in for an appointment this afternoon." She received a look from the person manning the front desk as she'd grimace. "Yes, that's my actual name. I don't have enough time to explain."

Soon enough, the two were seated in the waiting area and instructed to wiat until brought out to the pitch where the battle could actually begin. The girl leaned back in her seat and waited, spending the time by grabbing her phone and scrolling past a few new headlines on the social media feeds.

Navy

The two set on their safari journey, opting to head towards the aquatic parts of the Safari Park as the trainer was out and about hunting for the next addition for her team. She secretly was after that Charcadet, tempted to search as long as she'd need for that perfect little swordsman. Their first Pokemon discovered was a massive school of fish floating around. She'd stumble backwards as Proxi took a quick scan. "That's...a big Pokemon." she commented, noticing as the school had noticed them. Instead of going to attack, they'd all just scatter away, revealing...a smaller little fish?!

Vanilla stared with a confused expression as Proxii would showcase it on his screen. "They're actually just one single main Pokemon. The size comes from a whole bunch of them swarming together." "Which makes this way easier to catch it!" She'd take out a safari ball and quickly throw it at the small fish, watching as its form was captured inside of the capsule.

While seated on top of the log, a stray Umbreon would come out of the bushes in front of the party. Proxii brought up his screen and would give it a soft click, scanning the Pokemon while Vanilla fawned over it. "Whoa, it's so cute! I gotta catch this one! Kicker, give it a- huh?" Kicker, caught off guard, would have suddenly had his leg chomped against. He flailed around to try and get the Umbreon off while Vanilla watched. What could she do if it wasn't taking itself off of him? Was her brother's Cinderace going to lose a leg?! Gotta relax...

"Kicker, Flame Charge!" Cinderace began to run around fast, dousing himself in flames as the heat was far too much for the Umbreon to take and took off, hitting a tree. Vanilla threw a Pokeball at the burned Pokemon, attempting to catch it.

Thomas Benoit

It was the big day! The day of her first real racing breakthrough. Vanilla called out her Altaria just before the Mauville Gym area, with Proxii, the ever helpful Rotomdex hovering beside her. "Nervous?" he asked. She nodded to herself, her entire body shaking only slightly while trying to calm herself. The very first gym battle she was taking part in. It wasn't a traditional one either, but her nerves were racing all the same. "I feel like I'm gunna throw up...Maybe we should decline and come back later. I'm sure Josh is kinda..." The girl went to walk back before her Rotom faithfully physically pushed her towards the front entrance against her will. "Stop being a baby! You'll do fine! Just get in there and race."

She walked inside and would sign in for registration. The front desk person gave her a look as she sighed. "Yes, that's my actual name. Don't ask."

Some time later, and Vanilla and Cauli were guided to the racing track that would be used for the competition today. The trainer had to steel herself, being told to wait for the gym leader to arrive and go over the specifics before the challenge could begin.

As Thomas watched from afar, Vanilla and Proxii would continue on while the girl hopped over a fallen tree. "Huh, weird." she said to herself, looking over at the stump which showed signs of being cut down fairly recently. Wood chippings were over the ground as she'd purse her lips in thought. "Maybe this is the work of that Drapion?" she suggested to Proxii. The two bickered back and forth, not realizing as a nearby Lockix would wander past.

Thomas Benoit

Vanilla was frightened if she was a goner. The teen shook as Skylar and Thomas would hover over her, shaking while she couldn't stop herself. "Ah-Am I gunna die? I don't wanna die. I really, really, really don't wanna." She continued ranting and raving about her perceived fate up until Skylar would turn to cast her gaze into the tunnels around them as a single, high pitched cry was heard, immediately followed by a series of more coming afterwards. While Thomas had pulled out the pack containing the medicine that would help, Vanilla flailed at the noises coming from afar. Her hand smacked the pack containing the syringes as it slid across the floor.

"I'm sorry!I'm sorry!I'm sorry!" Vanilla was able to garble as she quickly got up and took off to chase the pack in a dead sprint. Granted, she was a little loopy from the venom and would end up kicking it further inside the, much to her dismay. She'd curse to herself, eventually fumbling as she'd raise her head up to see an overhand coming up, with a drop that was surely going to result in the loss of this medicine. On a last ditch effort as she tripped, Vanilla's hand shot out to grab the pack right before it was out of reach. She came to a stop just as her torso would be over the small plateau as inside was...

That was a lot of bones. But more importantly, as she looked around...Skeletal remains, expressions stuck in fear and even some unlucky enough to be missing parts of themselves.

"Waugh!" Vanilla cried, stumbling back with the antidotes in hand. She felt her heart race as several Nhilego would slowly hover out from the site of this mass grave. "Vanilla!" Proxii called, hurrying towards the cave while unleashing blasts of lightning at the surrounding Nhilego. They'd tense up at the sudden attack but quickly flutter away while the girl was left with an opening. "You're the best! Like really the best! I wish you were my brother but it's weird and I-" She babbled on while sprinting back to Thomas and Skylar with the Antidote.

"I got it! I'm sorry I'm a klutz and stupid and I really shouldn't be here but I just really wanted to help, I'm sorry that you have to watch me wherever I go and I'm a pain in the ass and I..."

Hopefully she'd get that antidote soon enough...

A second outing into the wilds of the Safari Area. She smiled with her Safari Balls in head, with the teen ready to get going. "We've already done this before, so this should be easy!" Proxii hummed along and flew about as the gates behind them closed. "They said this month's offerings are different from last month. But one that might stand out to you might take your interest is one Thomas has. Or the first form of it." Vanilla's interested piqued at this, grinning as wide as can be. "If I can catch one of them, then I'll have a super strong Pokémon for the gym battles!" she said with a smile.

"Let's get started!"

Vanilla walked alongside the older two people out here, looking about as she'd keep close. "I've been down here before looking for my father back when the open wormhole was here." She smiled to herself, recalling meeting luka chêne at the entrance, who allowed her to come in and look around underneath the League's nose. She really did want to thank her in person one day and hoped that the ranger was still around. Proxii continued to hover along as he'd maybe stop for a moment to observe the view as some water types above swim around them. "So we should be well acquainted with whatever's lying, waiting to take us on! Simple as is!"

As if the universe had hastily went to prove itself to the Rotom, several tentacles would suddenly latch onto the youngest trainer's legs from one of the small crevices underneath their feet. Vanilla let out a surprised yelp as she tried to yank her leg free of whatever was trying to capture her. "Get off..." she grunted, trying to pull herself free before something plunged itself into her thigh. She inhaled, the adrenaline helping her pry herself out and look at the damage.

There was a small tear in her leggings, exposing the sting mark. Vanilla frowned as a wave of lightheadedness washed over her, alongside her body feeling its sensitivity be cranked up to 1000%. "Ah, I-It stung me!" She said quickly, Proxii racing over as he'd start to panic. "Quick! We need to find some sort of fix!" he said quickly to Thomas and Skylar. She wouldn't really seem negatively affected so far, but she'd start to babble on.

"I feel kind of cold...But It feels like I drank seven energy drinks at once..." she murmured before looking to Thomas for some type of answer. "Thomas, you're cool, like cool cool. Like absolutely cool. I really want to be like you even though I'm still on level 1 and Oh god, I can't stop myself from talking, but it's hard to really stop. I don't mean anything!" She said, trying to filter herself despite her lack of such.

The rustling in the trees had been a clear giveaway that sopmething was trying to come and mess with their garden! Vanilla hurried onto the scene as she'd look over at the thing trying to get away with their hard earned work. "Hands up! Step away from the berries!" she said, eyes locked onto a Loudred that had been pounding about while trying to snatch and grab a quick snack. She'd whip out a Pokeball and call out Kicker as the fire type would blast onto the scene.

"Pyro Ball, let's go!" The CInderace would generate an orb of flames by his feet, kicking it between both legs as he raced closer to the normal type, before then smashing it towards the Loudred. The impact had stunned it enough for Vanilla to follow through with a pokeball to attempt and catch the normal type.
