Even before crossing over to this distorted world, Naia was nervous. Up until this point Naia had been playing it safe with missions she felt comfortable with, however between both Victoria Beckett and howard slayte, she'd been told that true growth doesn't happen till you pushed yourself. Hence her now, diving into this samurai hellscape in the name of team Rocket.[break][break]

Think of it like a practice exam.[break][break]

Her friend's words did bring some form of solace to Naia's nerves as they combat against the eerie feeling of the Ultra Crater, and even Hit-- no, Beast Inoue's voice cracking through the comms helped ground Naia as she took a moment to check their surroundings. Her hand too, much like her mentor, hovering over her firearm while her other was resting upon the strap of her medical bag. Though perhaps his voice worked a bit too well, since it was hard to stay completely serious by the time he brought up team names and much like Fenelle Miller, Naia too found herself wondering if he just has swords on the brain.. or for brains...[break][break]

not that she'd ever say that out loud to him.[break][break]

"We're going after Bulu."[break][break]

Naia instantly locked in on Tori's voice, making sure to give her a firm nod back while she reached for her Zoroark's pokeball and bouncing it off from the ground. A moment was all it took for a sudden cacophony of shrieking pokemon-- Kartanas to flood the skies as if they were trying to blot out the sun entirely to turn against their group as a whole and begun their attack.[break][break]

"We're moving." Naia would say to Calix, wasting no time to reach down and pick up Naia to place her onto his shoulder. It wasn't always easy getting used to riding her pokemon while he used AGILITY, having both her and him almost appear as a blur rushing through trees. [break][break]

This however would give Naia the full ability to focus on giving others back up as she'd take aim with her firearm, firing off shots to deflect any Kartana attacks, though her actions did carry a strong bias towards Tori and her pokemon above most others. If all went well, Naia plan to taxi her pokemon to follow the group and perhaps get far enough ahead to maybe scout out any other threats would go without a hitch.

From the lack of responses, Naia was beginning to believe that perhaps everyone was asleep.. or her tracing the stars wasn't as good as she thought it was. It was how she found herself back to stargazing, trying to find another cluster of nonsense to make SOMETHING she could recognize. [break][break]

It was when she managed to catch a small glimpse of a fairy Pokémon with a hammer did she take out her phone to snap yet another picture of the night sky. It was while she was tracing the ★NwSp constellation to what she THOUGHT was Tinkaton did she think that maybe she was remembering it wrong...[break][break]

Naia knew nothing about the stars, she heard about their names in passing but never had she really took the time to really figure them out. She had heard of different constellations and how they are connected to events and Pokémon, but there was one little cluster that she noticed this clear night that really stood out for her.[break][break]

For some reason.. it just looked like a Bulbasaur..[break][break]

But none of the stories she heard about these made any sense to her, perhaps someone.. could look at Bulbasaur and think it was a grassy snail. so maybe she was just looking at the constellation ★TaRn, and if this wasn't Bulbasaur, she should really contact some people to get it officially changed.[break][break]

There was a second where Naia felt like perhaps maybe she overstepped her bounds, and while perhaps this would be something she'd want if she was in his position, that would be it. He wasn't her, so of course he wouldn't want the same things. She nearly flinched from just the sudden sound alone, and then the embarrassment begun to sweep into her cheeks at his words.[break][break]

That's such a ridiculous ask. You're treating someone with an unknown illness, and your kneejerk reaction is to offer them a lap pillow? Like in the soaps?"[break][break]

"I don't think it's that ridiculous.." She'd mutter under her breath, but still she wouldn't have moved from her position. At least she wasn't embarrassed enough to pull away an offer she already gave him, and even more so now that he'd agree to it.[break][break]

"You're a strange woman, doctor."[break][break]

Naia didn't know how to react to those words, especially since he seemed to have dropped the familiarity of using her name. She had been called many things, useless, an idiot, a waste, even so far as a failure, but strange wasn't one she was used to hearing. Strange implied that they thought of her as normal. "Aren't we all?"[break][break]

Those were words she believed in, and words that she assumed everyone did too, but perhaps he didn't. He seemed to have this air about him that something was always wrong, or that he's followed by some ghost that she assumed was just from his illness.. but what if he was always like this?[break][break]

"When I'm done here?"[break][break]

Naia's fingers locked in on the strand of hair that stood out of place, twirling it around her finger for just a moment before she'd evenly brush out his hair again. She patiently listened to his words, even giving him a couple nods before she'd smile. "It's nice to hear how diligent our admin is." Her next hair brushes would instead feel like more rewarding head pats, before she'd notice one of the blood bags getting a bit full.[break][break]

"What'll you do after kicking me out? Any patients?"[break][break]

"I couldn't dream of kicking you out." She'd set up another empty bag, switching them out as she spoke, "I know I'm not that talented but I offered my aid to Jayden when it came to petalburg, so I can extend that to you too. Anything to help rocket stabilize again." It was without a shadow of a doubt that Naia would say Jayden's name with an unusual amount of softness, "But if nothing comes to mind, I'll probably close up for today and take up a mission. I haven't taken on a hit mission since I returned.. I hope my training makes up for any rust.."[break][break]

A feeling of unease ran through Naia, and with everything that had been happening up till this point, Naia was beginning to feel like she was lagging behind. Sure she can take down small fries, but the real targets she wanted still felt so far out of reach, and that feeling alone really brought out her insecurities, "Then again.. If I can't anything my level I may just stick with some more training."

Naia wasn't expecting it to be such an emotional whiplash when he was telling her about this Zacian. At first, she wasn't expecting Zacian to be the name of a woman, but that shock wasn't nearly as devastating when the proud of happiness Naia had for this unknown individual turned out to be league. And at worse, apart of the Elite Four. Perhaps in the past, Naia would have seen the ideal of dying by the hands of her enemy, but she saw what that was like..[break][break]

Still she listened to his words of admiration without any outward judgement, even if she didn't agree with him on running. Well, not entirely. He was right, right now she's no where at the level where she'd survive, but that's why she was working so hard. Naia wanted-- no needed-- to be at the level to kill an avatar. How else was she to repay the betrayal Isaac Merlo did against rocket and herself.[break][break]

"I think that's a beautiful thing."[break][break]

Beauty? Should struggling to live be so idolized? Or is it because so many people are willing to die so easily in rocket...[break][break]

"I feel like more people need to realize that they don't need to die to be loyal."[break][break]

It was jayden cross that came to Naia's mind when she made that reflexive comment, she saw him at death's door during the skirmishes and how he pushed himself even further just to finish off a couple of nobodies afterwards. It really did put in perspective of Victoria Beckett 's words when she asked if Naia could give up everything for Rocket, it just felt to Naia that Rockets seemed to have forgotten that it's family is for everyone in it and not just for one person or ideal.[break][break]

It was after her reassurances and her preliminary tests did her Indeedees finally bring up the last piece of equipment they needed to get started. If she wanted to get the most out of him without killing him, Naia was thinking that perhaps she should draw his blood for a bit before doing any blood transfusions. However there was always the concern on if he was a ready or not, something that didn't go unanswered for very long.[break][break]

"Alright. Let us begin."[break][break]

"Okay, if you don't like needles you can look out the window." After clamping a heart monitor to his finger, Naia would place a little stress ball within his

hand, "Hold onto that for the process and keep your arm straight." He'd probably feel the cold of disinfected swabs on his inner elbow after she tied his upper arm up with a band, and then a slight prick as she'd slide the needle in. Just in case he moved around she'd make sure to tape it down before releasing the band. Then she'd quickly work on the other arm, this one was to take in the blood transfusions and extra fluids, which she set up that all she'd need to do is release the latch for it to start the process.[break][break]

"Oh, I forgot to ask. Did you want to keep your blood for testing? I'm not a scientist, but I'm sure you have some people working at a cure." She'd finally ask after she finished taping this one down too. "Also I'd suggest you laying down, the more blood you use the more dizzy and confused you'll become. It is taking oxygen away from your brain, so you may even pass out."[break][break]

After she finished making that suggestion, Naia would sit down at the end of the couch, giving her lap a light pat, "If you want I can even give you a lap pillow." The way she suggested this with zero shame showed that she wasn't entirely joking about it even if she did mean it in a way to lighten the mood slightly. The other reason why she offered it was because she's far warmer than a regular pillow and he'll end up feeling a lot more cold the more blood that leaves his body-- also because he'd probably feel a bit less lonely to have someone that close by.[break][break]

If he were to take the offer, Naia would simple just adjust everything she needed to be within reach with the help of her Indeedees and laid back against the couch. She never took her eyes off from the monitors for long, the longest being when she'd make sure to pull the blanket up for him so he was tucked in comfortably, "Make sure to give me a 5 star review, not everyone gets special treatment." He could thank his title for that, but also for being so pitiful.[break][break]

A hand would idly to placed on the top of his head, brushing his hair back so it wouldn't be in his face much like one would soothe a child, "So, do you have any plans after you start feeling a bit better?" This process would be much easier if he could stay awake, that way it would be easier for her to monitor how he was feeling, however it's a good thing that he talks so much. Hopefully that won't be much of an issue.

This would be a moment she was thankful that she kept spirits and the like out of this household, while she would like to believe that her Indeedee were intelligent enough to know hot to give a patient alcohol, also understood that most of the time they were reacting and responding to their psyche. even if they were to help with some of her medical practices, she highly doubt they fully understand what exactly they were doing, or the nuance of medication, but she knew they did their best.[break][break]

At his thank you, Seb would give him a small nod of acknowledgement, before making his own way down to the basement as well. even though Naia was on the phone, she'd still take the time to look over at him and give him a silent nod at his words, as she was quickly getting her order in extra blood and drug supplies for this.. oil change.[break][break]

"You don't need to worry about killing me. I'm already reserved by another."[break][break]

She managed to catch these words as she finished off her order, making her way over towards one of the arm chairs near by the coffee table, so that she could have just a small chance to get some caffeine into her system. She knew she didn't need to put any more sugar and cream in her drink as Seb would've already have it covered from the years of serving her, but today for some reason it was feeling a bit more bitter.[break][break]

"Zacian?" As that name left her lips, Naia would gently place her cup down onto the table, trying to think back to the number of names she heard within Rocket to see if any sounded similar, but in the end she'd come up blank. "I never heard of anyone with that name, are they also an Admin?" She did manage to clock his name in those files and from his achievements back in petalsburg it would be impossible for her to not know heard if him, even if she didn't know his face.[break][break]

It was during a moment of pause, a calm silence did her two Pokémon return, she knew it was going to take a couple trips, however the moment Zoe would get another look at Howard, she'd instead make her way over to a closet instead of downstairs. From there she'd retrieve a blanket, a blue one that had been used for a lot of trauma patients, and despite all of its knitted look and holes it was surprisingly good at retaining heat. Only then when she finished handing it over would she give him a gentle smile before heading down stairs.[break][break]

"Are mercy killings common?"[break]

It's be more ignorant of Naia to believe that everyone in Rocket had their hands in murder, she knew of people who were sicken by such a thing and some who actively avoided it like the plague. But she'd be lying if she wasn't surprised an admin would ask such a question, "You'd be surprised." she'd pause for a second while she thought on how to expand on that, "The only thing that humans truly gear more than death is suffering. Some couldn't handle it, and worse of it is when they still end up dying in the end."[break][break]

Countless times Naia had heard people to kill them instead when things got too complicated, but to add to those voice she had also heard people begging for their lives. She truly lived an ironic life as both a doctor and an assassin. "You can't save everyone, but you can try. That's why in war some people choose to mercy kill. It's kinder." Oh. But did she actually answer his question at the end? "So, yes I've been asked, but if they make it here, I feel it's fit to keep them alive."[break][break]

At least right now she could get some simple tests out of the way, such as his blood pressure and the such out of the way while she waited for everything else to get up here. "Also, you don't have to worry about anyone else knowing you're here. Zoe and Seb will have the delivery covered, no-one will step foot in here." She was just trying to reassure him in any little way possible, especially since she was going to be invading his personal space in these next moments. "They will also lock up, so there won't be any random drop-ins for today."

Naia listened to his every word, the only sound she made that could have interrupted him was the scribbles of her pen on her page. It was truly heartbreaking, and to think minutes ago she was more than willing to do something like this.. Well, it isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility if it meant saving someone she loved and perhaps it was the same for him as well. That or just plain ignorance. [break][break]

"You're right.. that's quite accurate.." It was at his rhetorical question did Naia respond with a somber tone, she didn't know what he expected her to be capable of. She wasn't a miracle worker, nor was she Arceus themselves; all she could do was keep him alive the best she could and hopefully that was enough for him. Then---[break][break]

Naia paused her writing, the expression on her face no longer being calm, somber or neutral as it had been in the past, this time it was bewilderment. Luck? There is no way luck would save someone from such a height. Feel like shit? In Naia's eyes he shouldn't be feeling anything, and only to be at the end of it all to be in constant pain and agony. This wasn't luck, it's just a causality in a different form.[break][break]

Still she had a job to do. Naia would collect herself once more when he held his arm out, even stepping over to his side to lean in and take a closer look. She did however make a note to not touch him, at least not yet. She didn't know how this.. poison could be passed on, for all she knew just being near him could have spelled the end for her, but at least this way she could put the risks at a minimum. [break][break]

"I'm dying, Naia. Don't know how, don't know when. All I know is that it's going to happen."[break][break]

She wasn't used to people calling her by her name in this place, her eyes flickering over to his face when she heard it before she straighten. It was as she took in a deep breath, the pen in her hand flicking against the page as she was considering her position and his own. In front of her now was a dying man and a folder, one where she knew if she took would seal her to doing anything in her power to keep him going.[break][break]

No, the moment he walked in she probably was already in deep. "I'm just... hm. Changing the oil to make sure everything still runs properly." It was funny and truly a tragedy. "Keep things moving properly up until the end."[break][break]

"I'm not a miracle worker, I'm just a doctor.." She paused, her eyes moving down to the marks on his arm and then to the folder. She was already thinking of different ways to keep him alive through the process, there was a good chance she wouldn't be able to get out 100% of it, but at the very least she could get 50%, and if his body could withstand it, maybe more. She'd reach a hand out for the folder, "In here I don't do mercy killings. So, even if you beg for it, I'm going to do everything to keep you alive."[break][break]

If he were to hand her the folder, Naia would reach down to her belt, unhooking two pokeballs and releasing two different indeedees, one male and one female. Just at the thought of him wanting to have a drink, the male Indeedee would make its way over towards the kitchen whilst the female would instead make it's way down towards the basement. "Do you want to stay up here? It may take a while and you'll at least be comfier here."[break][break]

As she spoke she was scanning through the folder rather quickly, giving a couple nods and questionable eyebrow raises before slowly making her way towards the phone. She was going to need to restock after all, and she knew a couple contacts she could get in touch with for some emergency blood bags on short notice. While she was busy, her male indeedee would eventually make it back to the living room, on a tray being a drink which he would have wanted, unless if there was some sort of mental interference. If there was any of that sort, he'd instead bring a small assortment of drinks, a long side some classic additions like sugar, honey, creams, ects. [break][break]

Plus a coffee cup for Naia herself.
