A faint blush graced the girl's cheeks when Sam called her talented. She wasn't used to receiving compliments, but she didn't try to sell herself short. Her apparent lack of confidence stemmed from her inability to work with other people.

"Alright, let's begin..." The young mortician fetched a weighty canister containing the embalming fluids, wiping her sweat afterwards. "These chemicals are specially made. They preserve the color of the fur and are eco-friendly. Due to the size of the subject, six injection points are recommended. One on each paw, one on the head, and one on the abdomen." She explained in a scholarly manner, while putting on a surgical mask and a pair of gloves.

Dolores carefully injected the Arcanine's front right paw with the needle, focusing solely on her work as a way of escaping the anxiety of human interaction. "Don't worry... I'll make sure you look very beautiful for the public viewing." She whispered to the deceased Pokémon.

Dolores nearly jumped up in surprise when another person approached her. "Eek! I'm alright!" She sputtered a response, before her sunken eyes lit up, staring at the stranger's Pokémon in sheer awe. "What a beautiful Froslass..."

Snapping out of her stupor, the gothic woman bowed her head apologetically. "I'm sorry! I don't like crowds either. I'll leave you alone!" She scampered off, only for one of her shoes to slip off her foot, causing her to lose balance and fall face-first into the pavement, dropping her shopping bag in the process. "Ouch."

"J-just Dolores..." The girl meekly replied. Her mother would be considered a 'Miss'. She herself was still an unsullied maiden whose heart had yet to be claimed, and likely never would. She was prepared to die of old age, alone and unmarried.

Her eyes were drawn to the bouncing Gengar, and she grinned widely, feeling a strange kinship with the Ghost type. "Ah... Hello." Her Haunter also flew around its evolved form in circles, cackling all the while; a customary greeting among fellow Ghosts.

"I was just done examining the body." The young mortician explained, pointing at the Arcanine behind her. "We will proceed with the embalming... U-unless you wanted to run your own examination?" She said, nervously twiddling her index fingers.

A very pale, gloomy-looking woman walked out of the department store with a large bottle of shampoo in hand, and about a dozen lotions and colognes.

"Who buys that many lotions?!"
"When was the last time she showered?"
"I've heard she bathes in the innards of baby Pokémon to remain forever young."
"Yikes! Don't scare me like that, man!"

Ignoring the murmurs and gossips of the people surrounding her, Dolores rounded the corner until she found herself in a remote alley. "This is why I hate going out during the day..." She sighed, leaning against the wall. Her Mismagius materialized next to her, looking at its trainer with visible concern.

The smell of formaldehyde lingered inside the Pokémon Tower's basement. A younger Dolores stood in front of the mortuary table. On it lied the massive body of a deceased Arcanine. "You look strong. How many intense battles you must've had..." The young woman somberly mused, laying a hand on its snout.

The Haunter floating behind her let out a playful chortle, causing her cheeks to flush a faint shade of pink. "S-shut up! T-talking to dead Pokémon is not weird!" She blurted out, drawing her hand back. The sound of approaching footsteps gave her pause.

The Pokémon Tower's management had sent one of their own to evaluate Dolores' work. Considering who their client was, it only made sense to do quality checks. Still, the thought of interacting with another human being terrified her more than death itself.

The dark-haired woman stood up, visibly alert. She turned around, only to see a giant grin emerging from the shadows. "A Gengar?!" She gasped, sunken eyes lighting up with excitement. "H-hello! M-my name is Dolores. Wanna be... friends?" She awkwardly said.

It didn't take long for her to realize that the Gengar she was trying to befriend already belonged to a trainer. As soon as she saw said trainer approaching, Dolores jumped behind the bushes. "Eek, people! I'm sorry!" She squirmed.

Her squirming got the attention of a wild Hattrem, who abhorred strong emotions such as fear. It tried to pummel the human girl with a Brutal Swing, only for her Greavard to intercept the attack. "Bonnie, you saved me!" In reality, Bonnie was just trying to play with the other Pokémon... Play Rough, that is!

"Poor thing... Come here." Dolores pulled a Pokéball out of her pocket, stumbling as she threw it towards the hurt Hattrem. She would then go back to hiding in the bushes, hoping against all odds that the scary-looking stranger had yet to notice her.

Midnight, also known as the witching hour in some western cultures. It was that wonderful time of day when everyone else was asleep. A time for ghouls, nocturnal creatures, and weird introverts.

A woman with very long, black hair and a purple dress walked her Greavard at this late, late hour. The undead doggo marked one of the nearby trees as its territory, before running back to its trainer, wagging its tail and demanding attention. The woman smiled and knelt down, petting her Pokémon. "Good girl, Bonnie. Let's go back home." She said, unaware of the creeping shadows that closed in on them...
