With the Flittle captured, Akira would swiftly put them in her back and turn back to the mystery man. It seemed he was out doing the same thing as her. Was he apart of Rocket? No, probably not- he was much nicer then some of those brutes...[break][break]

"Oh, uh-" surprised by the gesture, she would raise a hand to politely reject the offer. "She's fine.. Umbreon can be dramatic at times. A little bit of water and she's awake."[break][break]

She felt.. awkward. Usually she was fine with being all high and mighty. But if they didn't know she was Team Rocket, well- she was more then content with acting like herself. No need to start fights if she didn't have to.

The sound of a gunshot was probably thee most effective alarm clock in existence.[break][break]

Literally, in some cases. But despite not being the one being shot at, Akira would suddenly be startled awake. Not even a yelp escaped her, but she did physically jump. The Umbreon in her lap would jump with a Yip!, scurrying behind the tree they used as cover. With her notepad's support now gone, wide eyes and frail hands would rush to secure the data she'd been collecting.[break][break]

"Wha- what on- Why did you-?!" With the notepad in her hands, Akira's instincts were to turn towards the shooter and scold them. But- oh man, the look on her face was priceless. Eyes would widen in shock, and her jaw would struggle to decide if it wanted to fall to the ground or clamp shut. Akira was new to Team Rocket, and quite frankly- she only wished to keep her head low and evade those that tried to find her. Knowing names and faces wasn't something she tried to prioritize[break][break]

And low and behold... looking down at her was one of the organization's underbosses. Gavin Merlino.[break][break]

"I- I- Shit-" She was so boned. So utterly boned. She was going to get kicked out for sure, or worse... killed! The underbosses were the top of the chain, and slacking off was NOT a good look! The eyepatched woman would quickly search her pockets, trying to find her phone. "-W-What time is it?! I was just awake counting and cataloging and getting ready to leave- I-" Looking down at her side, Umbreon would brush against her with her phone in it's mouth. She'd politely take it, before turning on the screen to look at the time.[break][break]

...An hour and a half?! The look on her face was mortifying. She knew she was in trouble, and she didn't even have the heart to look at the guy's expression. Out of fear of him? No- out of fear for herself...

Thank god that cargo job was over! Good heavens- she could finally find solace in the blessing known as silence. So quiet... such a stark contrast to that loud ass motherfucker of a grunt. She was a grunt to, but at least she had some... grace to herself.[break][break]

So she thought. With how absorbed in her thoughts she was, Akira had been a tad too clumbsy. Before she knew it, the sound of a stranger complimenting her would cause her to whirl around on her heels.[break][break]

...Oh shit, oh shit. A league member?! Shit- she was doing so well, fighting was the last thing she had any interest in. "I-" She tried to interject, to maybe talk her way out of this. But with how tired the other man, Milo, looked... she had a feeling No would not be an option here.[break][break]

Come on girlfriend, get your shit together. Quickly her surprised expression would dissolve, procuring the mask of a ruthless woman. "...I wouldn't be wearing the eyepatch if I "owned" it." She said with an icy cold tone. She... didn't actually lose her eye. Heterochromia was too much of an identifying trait. But that wasn't the point. "But fine, if you wish to fight... I won't go easy on you."[break][break]

Yeah, she was totally fucked. Grabbing one of her pokeballs, she activated it- thus summoning forth an elegant looking umbreon. It would make a light grunt of a noise, perhaps a sigh of relief for being freed. Then with little time to wait, "Umbreon, use Confusion Ray!" immediately, the pokemon would begin to charge the ray, before barking and unleashing the move.

She wasn't sure if he'd noticed, or opted to not say anything. Hell- he was probably to thick headed to notice at all. Whether that was a good thing or not... well, in this situation, it definitely was a blessing. The less people who knew she wasn't as mean as she acted, the better.[break][break]

The last thing she wanted to do was draw attention to herself. "...Yeah, but it never hurts to try." It came out more as an annoyance then anything. Being told what to do was a new concept to her- not to mention it being done in ways that were so ruthless-[break][break]

Dont think about it. Don't think about it. Luckily, Kouji didn't seem as twisted as some of the other members of this organization, as he instead decided to guide them towards a detour away from the League member's final- their resting place.[break][break]

Alas, they begun to talk again, and his way to start the conversation was- poor to say the least. How the hell was she supposed to respond to that? "...Sometimes its better to not ask others those kinds of questions." Still annoyed, her sharp tone dripped with defensiveness. Umbreon would seem to notice this and cower, instead opting to run ahead to scout. "Sure, Rocket has its downsides, but its a lot less- uptight then the League in some ways. It suits my needs without having to be a super villain or anything."

The victory seemed to be... well.. not celebrated at all. It was a job afterall, and these pokemon and people were in their way. It was such an awful mindset but... she would get used to it eventually.[break][break]

Or so she thought. "I'm not- HEY!" Before she had the chance to shoot back at the guy, he was off running after the duo. Not only did he leave the bags with her, but his fucking pokemon as well. A series of grumbles would escape her, "First he calls me ugly, now I'm his god damn babysitter. Why are all these Rocket people so childish..."[break][break]

In the darkness... she could barely see it. Kouji approaching the guy, words being uttered- before the sound of something hitting against the ground could be heard. Did.. did he just...[break][break]

No, don't think about it. her eyes widening in realization, before snuffing out the thought with closed eyes and furrowed brows. Don't think, don't think. He probably just.. knocked him out. Left him for his friends to find later, or maybe pokemon food.[break][break]

And by the time Kouji returned... her expression was nothing more then externalized annoyance. "...Hopefully that'll make the trip a bit easier," she mused in a grim voice. Luckily, the darkness of the cave her her some leeway to hide the distraught thoughts behind her eyes...

"-Uh, no!" Unlike the annoyance in her voice before, Akira's tone of voice was a literal dagger directed at Kouji. "The plan is for you to shut the fuck up and fight!"[break][break]

For a duo that seemed to fight alot, the Onyx was quickly dispatched. Confusion Ray landed it's mark, which was followed by another pending it on Kouji's end. It didn't take long for Umbreon to react to the strike, assuring it's partner into what would be a victorious strike. Soon it would dissipate into a red light- and the duo would attain victory.[break][break]

"..." She said nothing in response to Kouji's command, instead opting to look around for any signs of movement. Other then the red light, the visage of... something moving on the other side of the rock bridge would raise an eyebrow. One... two.. "Over there," she said, gesturing a hand in the visage's direction. "They ran in further ahead. I think two of them. Couldn't see more then an outlines."

He was loud and obnoxious, but... for the first time during this walk he was actually right about something. With how little she interacted with others, she forgot how many monsters lingered within the ranks of Team Rocket; Individuals that were far worse then she was. And she didn't even do the crime she was wanted for.[break][break]

"-Well, my point still stands. Nobody gets a- ?!" She was prepared to correct him, even though he was right, but her words came to a halt as the backpack wearing thug pulled out a pokeball and summoned forth one of his pokemon. She wasn't sure what it was.. but it looked scuffed. And it was a hell of a lot smaller then the Onyx in their way.[break][break]

"Son of a- ugh," Akira grumbled, quickly digging out her own pokeball and opening it, thus manifesting her Umbreon. "Confusion Ray!" she commanded, thus causing Umbreon to charge up their attack and send it forward as a followup to Kouji's attack!

God... this was hell. Literal hell. She'd heard stories from the other grunts about Ultra Deep Sea- how it could bend to the mind to its victims and terrorize them. And- well, this was not her hell. But it felt like it. Who the fuck would willingly walk around alleyways?[break][break]

No, no- that wasn't her problem right now. What was a problem was the big pokemon she'd accidently stirred. Despite how unathletic she could be, Akira moved with the the haste that spelled out the definition of "hauling ass", practically going at a dead sprint. She wasn't sure how far she'd been running, but with the amount of flickering lights there were... it felt like it was forever.[break][break]

After rounding a corner, Akira found herself running face first to a warm brick wall of a body, thus causing her to be tossed backwards into the cracked asphalt of the fake alleway. "OUCH!" She yelped, quickly raising a hand to rub her back. Heavy panting from fatigue aside, Akira would look up with a singular glared eye. "For the love of- why are you just standing around?! How can you be so chill with- with- that thing in here!"

"Yeah? And?" For a moment, her tone sound sharp like a knife- as if responding out of impulse. Despite her... "elegant" exterior, she was just as snippy as any other girl her age. "Were you expecting me to be another psycho obsessed withs self image? Trying to crawl my way up into rankings that- at the end of the day- don't matter? Everyone wants to be a hero..."[break][break]

And she was perfectly fine with being background noise. Another face in the crowd. The less that noticed her, the better.[break][break]

"Anyways, jaded is probably a better word for that analogy," Alas, her snippy tone backs away, reverting to her... well... miserable demeanor. If anything, she seemed more tired then actually annoyed or angry about this whole predicament. "-I don't blame you for the wrong terminology. You talk so loud it makes me struggle to hear my own thoughts. I can't imagine what it's like for you-"[break][break]

Despite the migraine this guy was manifesting, he was doing a good job of distracting her. The less she thought about that smell of blood, the better. "How long do you think this will take anyways? An hour? Two?"

Jeeze, no wonder he only did physical labor. He's so fucking loud, he's probably the type to be an elephant in a fine china shop. A grim expression would cross the girl's face as she looked the man over from shoes to hair. "Tell you what," with a sharp tone, she'd finally get the backpack on her back to feel comfortable. "You have fun being... the "brawn" of all this and carrying everything, and I'll be the brain. Just listen to me and we're going to be okay."[break][break]

They were probably... not going to be okay. But thats fine, with him carrying all the bags she'd easily outrun him.[break][break]

As they begun to walk, the smell of blood on the air would cause the woman to wrinkle her nose. Memories from... that incident begun to surface, such being stiffled by an irritated sigh. Now isnt the time for that she quickly thought.[break][break]

"Miserable is the understatement of the century," Akira said with a deadpan tone, a short snort escaping her nose. "I'm not concerned with attaining- glory or whatever you seek. As long as I can live comfortably and keep my head low, I'm content with where I'm at."

Just watch and count, thats what she was told to do. Watch and see how many League trainers passed by. For someone as... petite as she was, it was a job that she was more then capable of doing. Hell- she relished in it, anything was better then physical labor. And no, it wasn't because she was lazy, it was that it was so.. hard.. to do...[break][break]

And yet, her greatest enemy was boredom. She'd been there for most of the day. And, during the early morning, she'd found a place to hide near the mouth of the cavern to count- a pen and paper in hand. She was doing so well during the day- so many heads counted. But at some point... she'd fallen asleep.[break][break]

And with the sun falling in a few hours, the Rocket Grunt slept quietly underneath her tree, Umbreon resting quietly on her lap to make sure the paper pad she held didn't fall out of her hands. And as peaceful as she was... her nap may have gone for too long, for she was supposed to report back to a certain someone a few hours ago...[break][break]

"Forgive me, I need a moment", the woman would begin to pat Umbreon, feeling her stir in her arms. "...Wake up, we finally found something. Go on," kneel down, she let the pokemon gracefully land on the ground, shaking itself awake before getting into a ready stance. "-Go, Umbreon! Use Confusion Ray!", such an action was then followed by the tossing of a pokeball.[break][break]
