To his relief she accepted the hug. He hadn’t known how much he had needed the comforting embrace of a hug until he was wrapped up in her arms. It wasn’t something he had ever done with the people that had been stuck with him in Circhester. Sure he considered everyone in Circhester his friends but he had always held back when it came to showing it among the people of Circhester. Keeping his serious nature around them.

Hearing her response he nodded but since she couldn’t see it at the moment he decided to speak. ”You’ve changed so much as well. But it has been fifteen years. It’s expected that we would’ve changed in that time,” he pointed out knowing that with so many years that them changing was to be expected.

He was content just to stay like this. But he did allow her enough wiggle room to be able to look up at him. The knight had really hoped she wouldn’t ask about that. But from what he remembered about Adel he should’ve known better. Of course she would be worried and would express her concern.

It made him feel a bit guilty. Especially considering this had been going on for years. Before they had even been trapped in this false world. She just hadn’t known. No one had. Because he had just been that good at hiding it. Or maybe the moisturizer had helped hide the signs. Whatever it was, twenty plus years of poor sleeping habits had started to show.

The battle was overly quickly. With Eternatus being beaten and the real Zacian coming and dealing with Necrozma. This led to Necrozma fleeing dragging the Eternatus with it. With them both away in ultra space he couldn’t help but be relieved. Finally they could rest easy knowing that had been able to deal with the threats that had plagued these people.

Now that he could take a breather he realized just how tired he was. The cheering did little to rejuvenate him. Years of poor sleep wouldn’t just be done away yet. When he pushed back his fatigue he was surprised to see the people and the scenery beginning to change. Apparent reverting to what it would look like originally, giving away even more that this place was only a memory.

So focused on the changes he missed the stories the stars were now depicting. His attention was dragged away from that when he realized his body was starting to feel weird. ”It seems we’re finally going home,” he said turning towards the female knight. Adelaide Whiteley had been a good friend to his other the years. Rowan Wrynn, Gunner Graves, Elise Calcifet, and Ettie had become good friends of his even if it had taken longer with the wild child but she had reminded him strongly of some of his brother so it had been inevitable.

All the others that had been stuck with in Circhester and some of those among the other settlements he had been able get behind his walls as well. Though none of them had gotten as close as Adelaide Whiteley. She had helped him when he had felt that he was drowning. For that he would always be thankful. That was the last thought that crossed his mind before the word faded away and his world turned black.

He awoke with a groan and had to resist the urge to sigh when he noticed it was lightly raining. Getting up he looked around with a frown. He had just gotten done doing something hadn’t he? And not something to do with Zacian and Zamazenta either. Trying to remember got him nowhere.

It was like his memories were fragmented with some memories being clearer than others. Like memories he had of Adelaide Whiteley. Those were really clear. Kind of stood out among the other memories. And some of these memories didn’t make sense. Since he couldn’t really remember any of these places outside the memories he had with the female knight. The fact he had thought of her as a knight confused him. Maybe he had hit his head or something. Though he didn’t feel like he had done that.

His attention was dragged away from his thoughts to the sword dogs and shield dogs farewell. Or that’s the way he saw it way. To him it was like they had wanted everyone to know they were leaving. Though perhaps he was reading too much into the gesture.

Shaking his head to clear his thoughts his attention became fixed on the exposed cavern. Hesitating briefly he made his way towards the cavern and went inside. His attention was grabbed by the crystals and he picked one up frowning. He realized them as Tera crystals. Putting it back down he continued to investigate to see if he could turn anything else up.

His eyes focused on the general that had appeared in front of him and he swung his sword at the Toxtricity. However a Muk took the blow for the general. He realized his mistake. Due to Muk getting in the way the Toxtricity was still in front of him. And his attack had left him wide open. He knew he wouldn’t be quick enough with his sword to block the attack. Before he could wonder too much if this would be how he met his end arrows pierced the General courtesy of Adelaide Whiteley.

He moved his way back to the female knight around looking apologetic. ”Sorry that was careless. I shouldn’t have been so focused on the general. If it wasn’t for you I could’ve died,” he said frowning. If she reprimanded him for his carelessness he wouldn’t blame her. After all she had just got done telling him to be careful.

Of course if it wasn’t for this poison army so many people wouldn’t have died. And he wouldn’t have almost joined them. He had noticed a few of the memory people bite the bullet. Like the woman Amy she had always been nice to him. Though he had always thought that it was because she had had a crush on him. She had even asked him out once but he had turned her down gently claiming he was too committed to his duties for a relationship.

Turning away from Adelaide he noticed his Crystal had been knocked out. Sighing he returned the Glaceon to her pokeball before releasing Selene. After that he took the chance to look around. And noticed a lot of the Pokémon between them and Eternatus and Necrozma had been felled. Upon looking around he noticed something else.

”Did you see where Zacian went?” he asked the female knight looking around confused. ”I suppose it doesn’t matter right now,” he said focusing his attention on the Necrozma and Eternatus. ”I’m going to help Necrozma, Eternatus has been the one behind the poison this whole time. I feel like he’s the bigger threat,” he explained without looking away from the two Pokémon.

Hopefully he wasn’t about to make a huge mistake. ”Will you promise to continue to fight with me? I promise to be more careful,” he promised staring into his friends eyes. Once he had received a response he would begin to make his way towards the two fighting Pokémon with Selene following behind him.

Upon reaching the fighting Pokémon he saw they first there. He noticed Navy attacking the Eternatus and gave the other male a curt nod in greeting. Hearing illeana reyes his eyes narrowed. ”Selene use copy cat on the life dew but use it on Necrozma,” he said resisting the urge to give a pointed look to the woman.

Selene nodded before doing as her trainer ordered her to do. For a minute it seemed like he would actually attack the woman but instead he swung his sword at Eternatus.

The Twentieth Year[break]
The Day of the Winter Solstice [break][break]

Mikael had spent a lot of years leading up to the winter solstice traveling with Adelaide Whiteley . Going from one settlement to the other. But he always made sure to return to Circhester sticking around for a few months before setting out again. He was to restless to stay in one place for to long. The most being a few months. Something he was only ever to do in Circhester. Probably because he had started to see it as his home for the past two decades.

When the day of winter solstice arrived he had been traveling with Adelaide Whiteley . He noticed immediately when the sky turned red and crimson clouds blotted out the son. For a minute he stood rooted to the spot fear choking him. He was quick to shake it off and turned towards his companion to tell her that they should be getting back.

However before he could he noticed people from all the settlements were coming towards him. And was that a Zacian at the head of every battle patrol. Just what was going on here? He shook himself deciding he needed to focus on the battle. Anything else could wait until later.

He turned taking in everything. From the Necrozma and Eternatus to the hordes of poison sludge Pokémon and the dynamax Pokémon. He also noticed that there was Gigantamax Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon in the back. The odds definitely didn’t look good. But that didn’t mean he was about to roll over and give up. He would give everything he had to protect the settlements.

The young man, because at 46 he still considered himself to be young despite being around middle aged, released Crystal from her pokeball. The Glaceon looked at what was going before looking back at her partner. He didn’t answer at first just activated the ability to dynamax causing the ice type to grow in size.

”Do you think you could use max hailstorm from a distance?” he asked gesturing towards the dynamax and gigantamax pokemon that were further away. ”If so aim for the Rillaboom,” he told the ice type. Having her orders the Glaceon nodded before using Max Hailstorm putting as much distance as she could on it. If it could reach as far as Rillaboom that would be fine since it should at least be able to hit some of the Pokémon and would still release a hail for five turns.

While Crystal did that he took his sword out of its sheath. ”I’m going to attack them head on. Will you cover me?” he asked the blond haired woman at his side. Whatever Adelaide Whiteley said he would still attack them head on. With his sword that was had Freeze-Dry imbued in it he charged towards the fighting pokemon. He immediately sought one of the generals lashing out at it with sword. Hoping that he could freeze it solid.[break][break] w3lG7fSh

[break] Even it doesn’t hit the intended target it should at least hit some of the other Pokémon either way it will start to hail for five turns or however long the battle last which ever comes first [break] Decides to attack head on with his Freeze-Dry sword and ask Adelaide Whiteley to cover him [break] Uses his Freeze-Dry sword against a Toxtricity

The knight had just paused for a breather when the sound of his name reached his ears. But that wasn’t what had him turning rapidly around. It was the voice. One he hadn’t heard in….well it had to be fifteen years give or take. And if he didn’t know his mind better he would think his brain was playing tricks on him. Except his mind would be crueler than this. So he knew it really had to be her.

He was already moving to hug her before his brain knew what he was doing. Though rather or not she accepted the hug he would respect her wishes. After all the last thing he wanted was to make her uncomfortable. It had been so long since they’d seen each other after all.

”Adelaide I’m so happy you’re here,” he told her warmly. It seemed like he was mostly the same. Though the dark circles under his eyes would betray how little sleep he was getting. It didn’t seem to be affecting him to terribly though. But if one were to look close enough they would see that the warmth didn’t reach his eyes as much as it once had.
