Why did I agree to this?

Abner was already feeling a sense of regret as his shoes touched the ground of the Mechanical Kingdom. He held no interest in its wonders. It was only through the power of Mateo’s charm and proficiency with words that he had agreed.

Like his friend, Abner took a moment to adjust to the feel of the world. It was a sensation unlike anything he had felt before. Yet, he found it awfully hard to describe. Unlike Mateo who bared his back to the sky above, Abner did not show such weakness.

He stood tall, as a serious gaze glanced over their surroundings looking for any would-be opposition. As he took a moment to brush perceived dust from his black long coat he wore over his otherwise casual fitting black attire.

Yet for all his gazing, it was Mateo who noticed the female voices first. And as Mateo rushed to them Abner muttered. “Guess we aren’t alone...” to himself before he calmly began to walk behind Mateo.

He retrieved a Pokéball from the pockets of his long coat as he came closer. Just in case, as it seemed Mateo was intent on throwing caution to the wind.

Matao reached the woman first, leaving Abner to watch his companions attempt at modern day chivalry. He did not intervene, if this was a trap perhaps it would be a learning experience for Mateo.

Undercover work was always interesting. Perhaps not enjoyable, but it was certainly never a dull time. Especially not when his job today was handling ozias ambrose.

While Oz looked like the punk he always seemed to be. Abner had chosen a more sophisticated stylish approach, a black suit, white scarf adorned him alongside a hat. He definitely looked the part of someone with more money and a racer he was intending on using it on. As for the finishing touches he had chosen to bring his Poochyena.

“They are…” Abner mused. Admittedly he was more of a fighting kind of guy. “They might.” A man of few words as ever. He eyed the crowd as they pulled up.

“Do you remember the plan?” Abner asked. Remembering Oz’s penchant for going wild, he figured it was a good idea to make sure he at least knew the plan.

The icicle crash fell hard and fast upon the Kommo-o. Frigibax was moments away from celebrating his assured victory, only for him to realize that the Kommo-o hadn’t gone down.

And then the CLOSE COMBAT came. Slamming into the little body with such force that the reason he didn’t go flying this time was the angle of the attack.

“Bax, what did I just tell you?” Abner asked, at first amused but now he was getting mildly annoyed.

But Bax wasn’t listening instead it jumped at the Kommo-o with painful enthusiasm as it tried to CRUNCH down hard on it.

A chuckle escaped Abner. “Cute Isn't exactly a word I would use about it. But I appreciate the sentiment.”

Frigibax scoffed at its trainer’s comment. It was definitely the cutest, most ferocious, dangerous, strongest, bestest Frigibax this side of Hoenn.

And then its opponent revealed themselves.

Frigibax gazed upon the Kommo-o with ice-cold determination. And then the Kommo-o went into action, lunging a headbut right at it. Frigibax being the cocky bastard it was, took it head on only to be sent flying, skidding on the sandy ground for a moment before coming to a halt.

“Bax you are supposed to dodge!” Abner called out, with a smidgen of satisfaction in his voice.

Frigibax forced itself up. It charged at the Kommo-o with the mightiest tiny roar it could muster as an icicle formed in its hand. Its intention was clear and bright as the sunny day. Frigibax was about to ICICLE CRASH its opponent.

“Neither would I.” Abner replied to yet another one of Marshall’s profound realizations about the world.

Standing there, clad in a casual, if a bit uninspired, black attire but a snazzy looking waist bag attached around his hip. He seemed to be the mediocre to Marshall's more stylish get-up

He gazed out onto the desert, trying not to imagine the prospect of death out on the dunes. But it didn’t take long before Marshall offered him something else to focus on.

A single thoughtful moment was had before he replied with “Singles.” He smiled. “And you better not. This little prick needs a good lesson in humility.” He held a Pokéball up for a moment, before letting the content inside come out.

A rather large Frigibax appeared, confident and proud. Ready to do battle.
