Raju had made an appointment with Gym Leader Devlin. The short blonde managed to get a piece of home in Roll'in, a Cyclizar. Though he also had Big Bert as well. Both would be great for the land courses. Raju had been thinking about the gym trainer schtik ever since Josh had allowed him to ride one of the man's three Cyclizar to Slateport for a quick errand. Hopefully he had proved to the man that he could handle the speed. After talking it over with Jack Magnus, it was a go. It may even help him get out of his shell a bit. And so Raju had set up the appointment. Wearing his signature all black clothes, he had Brownie the Paldean Wooper sitting on his lap as they waited.

When they were called, he got up, holding the little Pokemon across his chest, and walked over. He followed directions to where he was supposed to go. Seeing the dark haired gym leader, he gave a little bit of a wave in greeting. Not sure what else to say, really, Raju stayed silent until Josh would break the ice a little.

Raju tried to maintain eye contact. He didn't succeed very well...but something did strike him as odd. Jack wasn't judgemental or harsh. He clearly didn't want to humiliate the blonde or anything of the sort. This was a man that meant what he said. And beyond his aunt, seemingly among the absolute few that actually meant what he said. Despite feeling super small...Jack welcomed him into Orthrus with open arms. Just like that. Exactly as advertised. Raju looked at the hand in surprise, but gently reached out to grab it.

And his new life began. Just like that.

Raju's own eyes narrowed dangerously. Never one to let down his guard, even in the face of flattery, he kept watch. Even as the guy enjoyed more of his meal. The guy introduced himself, shoving a hand towards the smaller guy. Raju took the hand, giving a bit more strength than he normally would, just to let him know that despite Raju's small frame, he had muscle. "Raju. That's Brownie." He nodded his heard towards the Paldean Wooper, who had slowed down his eating, just to watch and make sure that he wasn't needed. Not that Raju couldn't handle himself.

Then came the question about how long he'd been here. Was this guy also a newbie? "Three days." He took a spoonful of his curry and ate it. Savoring it. With how Ambrose worded that, Raju suspected this was another newbie. And this guy was unnerving as all heck!

The door abruptly slammed open, revealing...a towering, very...visible? Flamboyant? Raju didn't know how to describe the man. Either way, the guy's stomping went directly to the food, not even paying attention to the sign. Which was fine, the guy helped himself anyways. Taking another bite, his spine stiffened when their eyes met. Oh Arceus, please don't come over here. Looking down as he continued to eat, Brownie stared a little longer before continuing to chow down. And in only a few strides, the guy was there, speaking to him. The blonde just did a full five fingered wave at the guy.

Even with the compliment, he was on guard. Why did this man grin so ominously towards him? Brownie, sensing how tense his trainer was, awkwardly slid his plate away from the two. Raju nodded, and then pointed at himself. As if to say that he made it. He was a cook, afterall. And a fighter...so if this guy wanted to throw down, he was ready. Though there was a possibility that he was overreacting a little, and the guy was just naturally scary and didn't really mean anything by it.

Raju was too focused on what was ahead and to the sides of him to look back. At the speeds he was going, there was no way he could afford to look back...even a moment's distraction could lead to disaster. Thankfully, Josh was able to get Goroh back under control, was caught up to them as they slowed down to a stop next to his scooter. And Brownie and Jigawatt. And a small pile of about eight people...charred from being electrocuted and twitching, but very much alive and no long lasting ill effects. Jigawatt was grooming herself, and the Paldean Wooper just stared at them, said "Pa" and then drooled a little. Yep, Raju had no worries at all.

The dark haired gym leader thanked him for the company, and went off, but not before the blonde gave him a nod, and wave. Returning his Kilowattrel back to her Pokeball, he got back on his scooter and headed back to Mauville himself. This time to the gang's headquarters.

The blonde nodded back at Magnus when the man noticed that he had come in. And he was shortly joined by another. Raju shook his head and hand about the light from @virgil. He didn't smoke. Couldn't afford to. Though his face seemed kind of ridiculous with the expression that he had. Others pitched in, namely raphael dos plumas. Jasmine Blair came in strong as usual, being super flirty with the boss. Not that he could blame her...if he had more confidence and if Jack Magnus swung both ways, maybe he would be doing the same. A couple of others came in, the last of which bringing a cooler. Why didn't he think of that?! Slightly embarrassed, he did grab a couple of waters, giving @marshall a nod of thanks. Then he looked at @suzanne, waving a water, beer, and a soda as if asking her what she wanted, if she wanted anything.

When that was all done, Magnus started the meeting. Raju was well aware of just how long Orthrus had existed. What he didn't know was just how much it had grown. Let alone how Rocket had...liquidated...other gangs into their organization. With varying degrees of threats, he was sure. Only to be confirmed by the man. The big guy was adament about them not joining those ranks. That was good...but the problem was how to keep that from happening. Apparently from talking to a high ranking representative. From both sides? That was risky, wasn't it? If either one found out, a sting operation would surely occur, right? The goal was to be a thorn in Rocket's side, but if they could get in on both sides' payrolls...more money?

Virgil was the first to speak, first to mention possible spies from both sides already in the ranks. That was a concern too. Who could be trusted? "Plus, wouldn't both sides be pissed we're helping the other side?" And thus, at best, break off any contract/agreement made?

Perhaps Raju was trying to be too logical? The boss had to talk to someone named Lani. Probably the person that ran the club? Then who was the girl that showed him in here? And how deep was that chair?! That was twice the giant leaned back. What were his flaws? List them out? What was this, a sefl-evaluation test? Raju looked away and down...feeling small again. He hated these kinds of things. It was just a simple question! He had an easier time beating people half to death than this. "Um...I get too nervious too quickly when asking for anything. I don't always speak my mind or say something like I should. I'm too quick to resort to fists when anyone annoys me...or at least refuse to try something I cooked. I often don't know when to quit. I'm not much of a team player in a fight. I'm...not good with authority figures still. I'm not good with words. I'm too passive. And I lack confidence doing anything not cleaning or cooking related..."

The blonde just looked like he was shrinking more and more as he admitted some of his faults. There was likely more that he could list, but couldn't think of them right then. The poor guy just didn't know how to react to Magnus. It was like he had experience being a psychologist or something!
