the purrloin doesn't think so. [break][break]

but a crane in the water does, evident by how they trill with a piece of cloth in its beak. crystal blue eyes idly eye the bird, who cranes over the water to take a little sip, and she can't help but to admire, a little bit. its tall, and quite pretty and pleasing to look at. [break][break]

if she recalls correctly, it should be a pokemon from paldea, no? she'll remember going there once, twice, a couple of times, but no more than visiting galar. her lips curl into a smile, watching as the bird pokemon eventually lowers itself into the water. and, after just enough thinking, she pulls out another pokeball to call out an espurr. [break][break]

"psyshock." she commands the little feline, whose indifferent expression leads up to a sudden burst of energy and power, rocks and debris lifting into the air to shoot at the crane pokemon without so much a warning. does she feel a little bad for disturbing its peace? perhaps, but it was pretty enough for her to want it. [break][break]

so following up, she throws a pokeball at the water, a smile to her lips as she hums and stretches into the air. "lets go home."

she can't exactly say no. [break][break]

she'll take his hand when lifting herself up, and she'll follow him over to the bar that offers a fair amount of drinks. she initially came here without a plan in mind, but now? she has company, and a nice night of chatter ahead of her. [break][break]

who is she to turn down a man's offer to spoil her? [break][break]

and so she starts walking over, along with him, with a smile to her lips as a breeze passes by, prompting her to push locks of orange over her head and out of her eyes. "spoiled after the show, then~." she chuckles. [break][break]

"don't burn yourself during the dance." she hums, leisurely crossing her arms against her stomach "i wouldn't want my company injured~."

ah, the audacity. [break][break]

she didn't think she'd run into someone like this at a god damn bookstore of all places, but here she is, at her expense. all she wanted to do was pick up a book, nothing more, and nothing less. so her fingers press against the top of a relatively thick book, and she's able to tilt it back on the shelf until it's secure in the palm of her hand. [break][break]

a familiar cover he'd know, and she wouldn't. one of the older books.[break][break]

"i'm wounded" she says, a tone littered in faux disappointment and only a tint of amusement ( his amusement is contagious, or maybe she's just easily influenced by her surroundings. the tone of a deep blue however, keeps her very much aware ). with the book secured, she can glance over her shoulder and to a man all she likes-- [break][break]

and get a proper look. [break][break]

... ah, that would explain it. [break][break]

her own words bring out a chuckle, and her mood is only lightened by the feasting of eye candy. he's damn lucky she's shallow as she is. [break][break]

does she know what he's called her? no, not in the slightest, but it's all the more reason to return the favor. "i know precisely where my eyes are, bleu nuit~." she'll return with a chime, taking a step back with her arms hugging on the book. she's still careful when she backs down on the ladder, but, surprise surprise, heeled shoes don't exactly go well with step ladders. [break][break]

he's right to stand behind her when her ankle shudders, and she lets out a sharp gasp when instinctively reaching for the shelf.

the pokemon is a little bastard. [break][break]

but at least the trainer can read the room. this time, a soft hum leaves her lips, and the ginger-haired woman wears a more amused smile with a half-lidded glance. "y'know what?" she asks, fingers planting against the sand before she starts to slowly lift herself up with a hum "better keep your word~" [break][break]

she can't complain about a drink and a meal with a nice show, but she can compliment all of the above and some good company to end off the night. his smile is contagious, but she's good at maintaining just the right amount of coy and amusement. "you're making a good offer~" she chimes, lifting herself from the sand and properly brushing some of the grains from her skin. [break][break]

"though i don't think i can say anything to convince you to let me buy your drink?"

not the trainer, of course - the pokemon. the espurr does what she can to care for the small fry, while the larger pokemon take on the heavier work. [break][break]

all in the meantime, maria is left to heal and spritz the poor pokemon in the crossfire with antidotes. she does the job well, mind, though when the sound of a pokeball's click perks her ears, she can't help but to curiously glance over in the direction. "you're capturing them?" she tilts her head, a smile to her lips as she spritzes another poor pokemon. [break][break]

"you know, you don't have go that far." [break][break]

one would argue that he's going too far.

not that it's a bad thing, honestly. it's only a shame that she can't cash the favor with an alternative. so, with a soft sigh, she smiles and returns the waving gesture with one of her own. "if you insist~" she smiles, and ponders, slightly, when the voice of a blood rose settles on her ears. [break][break]

"rouge sang~." [break][break]

yes, that sounds right. [break][break]

though she hums softly - he's part of the event? "so that means i get to watch you dance?~" she quirks a brow, a chuckle leaving her lips. he certainly doesn't look the type - but she doesn't complain. "i was going to say you could join me for my meal to make it up to me" her lips curl into a smile, fingertips tenting together as her wrists rest against her midriff. [break][break]

maybe she'll listen to some music to pass the time. [break][break]

it adds something to the atmosphere, at least. but then that means she wouldn't be able to hear the beautiful sounds of the forest anymore. oh, what a dilemma. so instead, she'll hum a fun little tune she'd listen to back when she was in unova. after all, the music there was always fun, and always so different to the overly romanticized kalos. [break][break]

it seems like her humming has caught the attention of a nearby diggersby, however, but it hops right back on its way. honestly, it can do as it pleases - she won't say or do anything, but it's still lonely when it leaves her sight. [break][break]

so instead, she pulls out a pokeball and has a purrloin sit next to her, on the railing of a wooden bridge she's found herself walking to, and leaning her upper body against. [break][break]

"doesn't the water sound nice?" she asks, in a voice laced with orange. the feline only purrs.

and why should she be? she was just about ready to chow down on a perfectly good steak, only for a little pokemon to come at her and snatch it away? had she not known how to keep her composure, she'd let the grouchiness of the situation take over her common sense. thankfully, she doesn't, and when she sees the trainer, she pauses. [break][break]

oh, hello.[break][break]

is she admiring? yes, she is, and she will do so semi-shamelessly. at least, she stops before most people could notice. [break][break]

unfortunately, no matter how attractive someone may be, it doesn't wash away the woe she feels at wasted food - but she can't be mad at the trainer of the pokemon. so instead, the ginger woman runs her fingers through her hair, and lightly ruffles her bangs. "jeez.." she hums, blue eyes meeting the same. "don't worry about it. i can just get myself another." [break][break]

instead, she tilts her head and glances to the wooden stage set up for the event. "you won't be staying for the fire dancing, though?" she hums, her smile has turned a bit disappointed. [break][break]

"alolan dancing isn't something you see every day~."

with all these webs, she'll need to have a nice, $700 wagyu beef at the cove bistro. [break][break]

she'll make it a habit to treat herself after a good day's work, even if she's not exactly being paid remotely anywhere near that amount. call it a stress response, a habit, especially since she has to handle spiders ( she doesn't have to, and it looks like it's her partner, but she has to compensate her eyes with something ). [break][break]

"oh, crystal~" honestly? she's fine with this development - it means less work and less interaction with the bugs ( those little crittering, crawling, arceus forsaken bugs ). so she nods with a smile, waving her hand in the air as the other gently lets a smoliv free from her grasp. [break][break]

yes, fill your thoughts with happy smoliv. not.. giant spider ariados... [break][break]

yes, well, it's difficult to fill them with creepy crawlies when they start coming out from the nooks and crannies of the forest, teeth clicking as their legs clatter and rush to a foreign flame. a shudder runs up her spine as her blood runs cold. [break][break]

there's only a few ariados, but there seem to be a small herd of spinarak who back them up, to which she responds by pulling up a little feline of her own. [break][break]

an espurr pops out of the pokeball, with blue eyes glowing and at the ready to assist Calix Nikolau with a confusion at the smaller fry.

she'd be a fool not to worry about it just because he said so. [break][break]

but the man has a damn good way of getting people to lower their guards, she'll give him that much. grizzly as he looks, he still has a way of soothing the nerves, so she'll overlook her initial skepticism this one time. "if you say so~." [break][break]

it's not her problem if the forest burns down anyways. [break][break]

as they traverse deeper into the oak with the feline pokemon to guide the way, up until they, in deed, reach the first open landing. here, the soft cry of a yellow reaches her ears. a tiny smoliv whimpers, face pale and on the ground. the poor thing can barely roll to sit up.[break][break]

oh, how helpless it looks. the teary face will tug at anyone's heart strings. [break][break]

"oh, sweet child--" she moves over to it, careful of poison threads and residue when pulling out an antidote to spritz the little thing. "they should be close.." she mumbles, gently tugging the threads away with protected hands.
