Grimmsnarl was unable to get ahold of Froakie, and was struck by a Hydro Pump. It was sent skittering back, shaking and barely standing. It's time to lunge and try another Draining Kiss to stall.

"--Huh?" He was utterly floored by how little he'd gotten out of his usual tricks. Dylan feigned a cough, trying to sneak a hit off a nicotine pen.

Grimmsnarl was sent reeling back. It was dazed momentarily, giving Froakie a perfect opening to get in and lay a Smack Down. This in turn left the frog in range for Grimmsnarl to try and twist its arm in a bout of Foul Play.

Grimmsnarl inhaled the cloud of Magic Powder and wheezed, stunned for a moment. All the while, Hatterene had a chance to right herself.

Grimmsnarl reared up, sensing a lull in the fight altogether. Its distended charcoal hair slowly fanned out, and it reared its head back. All at once, Grimmsnarl swung with the length of it, all the while bowing in a gesture that looked like a  False Surrender.

”...Do you think he'll ever call collect on anything? I know I've leaned on my connections with him and Navy to punch above my weight.” He shuddered at the thought. At having to make it on his own again.

"I just... don't know. She's not sick or anything..." He said, clicking one of the pokeballs clipped to his belt, turning his Shadow Skeledirge loose. She looked up at him and tried to smile, but looking directly into her eyes sent a chill down his spine. That motif returned again. The air around Dylan grew warm and humid, leading him to unbutton his coat.

Grimmsnarl was sent hurtling back, and looked to Howard's Larvitar with confusion. He then leapt back, cheeks welling up. A Chilling Water stream shot forward. "In Galar we have two national sports. Footie and drinking. I was a solid left-fullback all throughout school."

Dylan scrunched up his nose. He was no expert on these things, and wouldn't go pseudointellectual on Howard again. He'd try to meet him halfway here. "--Sounds kinda like... Ursaring. If you get an article published, I'll buy it."

Dylan's other interest was simply... playing heel to the pop world and pissing off his own audience. The fact that he ignored any onlookers was maybe the mildest case. Grimmsnarl coiled up, pouncing with Foul Play as Dylan whistled. "Any extracurriculars? Do you make art or play any sports?"

Grimmsnarl watched as her Hatterene shone. The veil of light reduced that stream of water to mist around it, the air thicker than ever. Hatterene responded with Mystic Fire, sending Grimmsnarl skittering back, before falling over. He slowly stood up again, covered in minor burns, steam rising off of his skin.

Grimmsnarl then sprung forward, trying to catch her again. He lunged with muscles tensed up, trying to slide in and trip her with Foul Play.

”...We really robbed Callan, huh. Complete creative control? He skims some off the top? I didn't even have to have media training, despite the... everything about me.” Dylan said, thinking to his peers, to the infamous 360 deal, to entire catalogs in purgatory.

"She's stronger than ever, but even looking at her is terrifying. She cooks the air around her, and she has this... sadness in her eyes." He said, glancing aside.

Dylan flinched at the siren. He was so used to just fighting in the park or an alley. "You're right." He said, watching Froakie let out a torrent of water, a pressurized jet that sent Grimmsnarl tumbling back. Dylan posed with a hand gripping his belt next to the buckle, smirking as Grimmsnarl sprung forward to respond with Draining Kiss.

Dylan balled up his windbreaker, and threw it into the crowd with a smirk on his face. He did so seconds from breaking away from his handshake with Tori. He then hit his little nicotine vaporizer as he walked away, red and white stripes like a candy cane. Over his shoulder he glanced back at her, his nose slowly letting off steam.

All the while Osiris was eye to eye with Dylan's Grimmsnarl. The two trainers breaking away was followed by the ogre flexing his muscles, hair coiled around them. "You don't need to wait on me. In fact... The man who trained me said real life doesn't have referees for your fights. You should've swung first."

He said, turning back to face her. He thumbed the bottom of his sweater, untucking it from his jeans. Grimmsnarl curled up and pounced, hoping to start with Foul Play.

Dylan thought for the longest time about buying a motorcycle. About drifting and snapping out of it at top speed like in Mario Kart. He saw a Husqvarna in a shop window with his name on it. --Mm. Grimmsnarl, I'm gonna need you to do me a favor."

The Cyclizar sped down the trail one after another. Grimmsnarl laid out a perfectly timed Foul Play to try and make one spin out so Dylan could snag it. "I want to feel the wind over my ears. No thing, no person is tying me down. Cyclizar, break this stalemate with the world, let me be free on the road."

All the while, Dylan's Grimmsnarl stood there, arms folded. Dylan had a nicotine pen painted like a candy cane between his fingers, while the same hand held an energy drink. The zoomer's coffee and a cigarette. "This is gonna sound like crazy talk, but my mom just had hair like this." He said, sipping at his drink. "I like hot showers too much for hair dye to stay in for very long."

The stiff breeze helped whisk away the ribbons of mist trailing from his nose, Dylan hastily cramming a nicotine pen back into his pocket. All the while his Grimmsnarl gave him a concerned look. Dylan stood there, rocking a distressed sweater, jeans, and a windbreaker.

Grimmsnarl's worry grew as Dylan walked over to a vending machine around the corner, getting out an energy drink. He popped the tab, the carbonation making the can rattle. Dylan glanced over his shoulder, quick to change the subject. "This shouldn't surprise you anymore. What do you want for dinner? I'll grill fish for us when we get home."

He said, before that ogre of his pointed a finger forward. Dylan glanced at his phone, before looking up. They were in a plaza, crowd slowly backing up. Sure looked like her. Dylan walked across the length of the field, offering his free hand to shake. "I don't believe we've met." He said, sipping at his drink. "I'm Dylan, and you are?"

So this is how he was gonna spin powdering his nose and breaking character, straining his voice to make his pain feel more "real". "And I feel like you're in the perfect position to do this, if you felt like it."

Or maybe he just wanted to see Desiree do a key bump and lose it. 

Hatterene's Shadow Ball connected, Grimmsnarl blocking and being shoved back a good five feet. Grimmsnarl then stood with feet planted on the ground, cheeks swelling. A Chilling Water spouted out of his mouth, a pressurized stream aimed at Hatterene.

”...Ah. This is mixed really well. I can hear everything that's going on, nothing's getting overpowered. I like the little drum fills.” Dylan said, nodding as her track played out. The little backing vocals stuck out to him. "I have "stronger" pokemon, but he understands me the best. There's something... different about Skeledirge now." He said, glancing aside.

He'd been waiting for this moment. For a reunion with the Professor. Dylan hadn't much to show for it, save for... The scrap metal off the dying Volcanion he and Aubre dealt with would've looked like ordinary copper wire. Perish the thought. He was kitted out in the hot topic classique.

Dylan stood facing a building, slowly turning around as he heard footsteps. Ribbons of mist trailed from his nose, followed by a hand darting into his pocket to hide the evidence. --Mm. I forgot our promise. But, that aside..."

Dylan clicked a ball clipped to his belt, turning his Grimmsnarl loose. Its muscles seemed to rhythmically tighten and loosen, hair catching the sun. Dylan's hair was tousled by the wind. A leaf landed against his face, and he didn't even bat an eye. Dylan eventually raised a hand, pushing the leaf off. He had his own projects, but it's been a while. "What are you working on right now?"

He just felt… sorry for her. This was someone who strived to do better and was too hard on herself. Dylan on the other hand was carefully managing how much of a piece of shit he could be. He saw what he’d be in Father Winter’s ghost of Christmas future, and that was the line, anything before crossing it was on the table. He took a long drag off his nicotine pen, then raised a brow, as if asking if she wanted a hit.

"Nice. Nice. Streaming pays peanuts, so I’m glad you’re finally getting a bag." As she sat on the stool, he stood posing like he always did. Hand white-knuckle gripping the buckle of his belt, other arm hanging down like he didn’t know what to do with it. A breeze punctuated the quiet. "I’m glad to see you too. I did a benefit here with Evelyn Silph. I felt like I had to be more sensitive for that crowd. I did some singing, people liked it but it was so… not me. Not yet, anyways."

”If it works, it works.”
He said, waving his free hand at her Hatterene. Dylan whistled, his Grimmsnarl stepping in like it was about to throw a punch. It then curled an arm and tried to whip Hatterene over its shoulder in a use of FOUL PLAY.

”It felt weird having to… be me and not just have fun out there.” He was crying and learning to sing right there, in front of fifty thousand people. Dylan popped open a case of wireless earbuds in his pocket and threw one to her. He held the case down to let it pair with either of their phones. "You first, do you have any demos?" He said,
