The Shadow Ball really did it. Although Cadeyrn felt relieved, he didn’t lower his guard. This was their moment to escape, and he didn’t hesitate to follow after his lady. Perhaps he should be a bit more grateful for the other person’s attack—they wouldn’t have had this opportunity without it. “You don’t have to tell me twice.”

Ivy followed closely but kept her pace carefully measured to avoid leaving a trail for Kiro to follow. Cade was still a bit confused. “Wardens? I don’t understand.” All he could see or thinks was a toxic chain on the odd pokemon, and his face paled as he recalled the past. Would he have to deal with his emotions being manipulated a second time?

Cadeyrn was more than ready to face the grunt head-on. He had strong feelings about those who aligned with Team Rocket. The knight, with his arm raised, noticed that his wound had reopened, bleeding slowly through the bandage. This was far from ideal, but he had endured worse. Battling through the sandstorm had been even more challenging. "I can't say that Remiel Calcifet has been a pure and innocent soul, but he's learned from his mistakes. Joining Rocket was one of them. You attacking another Calcifet will not. If your want to get to her you going to kill me!"

Cadeyrn assumed a defensive stance, awaiting Jiro's move. Jiro might have thought he had the upper hand, but Cadeyrn knew his Doublade might make another. As he waited, the Gengar shot a shadow ball from one direction, and Cadeyrn swiftly shifted his charge, aiming to counterattack from another. Ivy, who had been hiding and battered by the sandstorm, decided it was time to make her presence known. With a sneer, she unleashed a Dragon Pulse, the draconic beam erupting from her mouth. Three attacks from different angles—how in the world was Jiro going to escape this unscathed?

Cadeyrn winced in pain as his arm was treated, the throbbing reminder of his reckless bravery. He had messed up—seriously, badly—but deep down, he didn’t regret a single moment. As Elise’s chosen knight, he was honor-bound to protect her, yet in the heat of battle, he had lost sight of the love that fueled his every action. The thought of her safety had eclipsed the bond they shared, a bond that felt fragile amid the chaos of their world. One day, when the war settled and the ashes of conflict had cleared, he would make it up to her. For now, honesty was all he had to offer.[break][break]

“Of course, I wouldn’t let you out of my sight,” he said, his voice steady despite the pain. A smile broke through the grimness of his expression. “We are a couple, after all, and that’s what couples do. I will always be there for you, no matter what.”

In that moment, it felt as though the world around them faded, leaving only the two of them—together, united against the chaos. But just as their connection deepened, a shadow loomed over their tender moment. [break][break]

Cadeyrn’s heart dropped as he noticed the ambush. The masked Team Rocket grunt aim at Elise. “You again.” He shoved the woman behind him instinctively, drawing his sword with a swift, practiced motion. His mind raced as he fought against the pain in his arm.[break][break]

With a quick parry, he deflected the grunt’s sneak attack, adrenaline coursing through his veins. But the unease settled heavily in his gut. If The Rocket was here, then his Pokémon weren’t far behind. Just then, he caught sight of Ivy, still hidden but vigilant, waiting for the right moment to strike. [break][break]

He need her now more than never they had to watch other backs. “Elise… fight with me.” He pointed his sword at the enemy, a knight's rallying cry echoing in his chest. He remembered the ideals he had sworn to uphold—honor, bravery, and protection. Yet, the anger boiling inside him twisted those ideals into something darker. It felt less like a noble battle and more like a struggle to murder and kill. “Back again for more? Fine, lets' dance.”;

It was okay to take a side job for the day, or so Cadeyrn reassured himself. Elise was in good hands—at least, that's what he believed. He promised her mint ice cream, something to bring back as a small token. The knight took a deep breath, trying to ease his worries. His Baxcalibur stood by, a steady presence. "Why wait?" Cadeyrn mused, glancing at the ice machines nearby. "Let's make some now. Use Blizzard on the ice machines." Baxcalibur nodded, unleashing its frosty power and the machines were almost over fuel. If everything went well there would be ice cream for everyone today!

Losing was a bitter pill to swallow, one Cadeyrn had expected but not this soon. He almost wanted to say no to jumping back into the fray, but looking at his arm and his fallen Hydreigon, he couldn't. It could have been Elise suffering through the pain more than he was. It seemed he wasn't the only one to lose a Pokémon this day and one of his beloved like died on the ground. For the beginning of a war, things were already taking a turn for the worse, and he hated it.

However, Cinder's roar signaled her conquest left unfinished, even as Dragapult lay unconscious. She would have attacked and slain, but Mega Evolution was taking a heavy toll on her mind and body. "Stop, Cinder. Answer me," Cadeyrn's voice cut through the pain and rage, reaching her ears as smoke bombs went off and Team Rocket made their escape. Neither human nor Pokémon would forget the eyes of that man.

Cadeyrn silently vowed to get stronger so that next time, it would be different. "Don't be sorry. We just have to—" He paused, glancing up. "An airstrike? It would explain the sudden retreat. We did all we could," he responded to Elise as Cinder collapsed moments later, her Mega Evolution ending abruptly. Cadeyrn quickly recalled her to her Pokéball. He felt the ground tremble, wondering what was happening. What there an earthquake happening why? "We'll talk about everything later."

His heart ached not just from the loss of battle, but from a deeper, unspoken feelings. This entire time he made so many maybe he could some of them right.

Cadeyrn hated feeling vulnerable. His wounded arm throbbed, a constant reminder of his current limitations. Even with healing, it wasn’t enough to get him back into full fighting form immediately. However, he had faith in Elise to combat the Team Rocket grunt while he recovered his strength.

This was the side he had chosen, and despite everything, even losing a Pokémon he cherished dearly, he wouldn't change his decision for the world. The league has to win this war or nothing will change. He glanced down at the Mega Stone still shimmering with power. Cinder was fighting with every ounce of strength she could muster, refusing to give up. And yet look at the destruction retreat seem the best option. "Careful Elise, I hate to say this but we might have to retreat."

Cinder felt the dragon darts hit but refused to acknowledge the pain. Her mind was focused solely on the Dragapult, her hatred and rage fueling her every move. To her, the Dragapult was an abomination, something that needed to be eradicated.

Burn. The only thought that her enter mind. She needed to destroy it completely. With a mad gleam in her eyes, she took to the sky, soaring above the battlefield. Her wings flared, and she executed a series of vicious Air Slashes, each one precisely aimed to trap the Dragapult in a swirling vortex of wind blades.

“A Coward? Faf from it She’s braver than you could ever know.” Cadeyrn retorted, fighting the masked grunt with all his might. Their efforts seemed to be going well, but the knight was quickly overwhelmed. Each slash he took felt like another opportunity for error, and finally, the unthinkable happened. He miscalculated. Blood dripped down his arm from the blade embedded in it. First came the shock, quickly followed by intense pain as he attempted to pull the blade out. Despite the agony, he didn’t scream, refusing to give his enemy the satisfaction. He staggered back, using his sword to steady himself and remain on his feet, breathing heavily.

He had barely put a scratch on his opponent. Cadeyrn sighed, realizing that if more enemies were like this grunt, the league was in for a brutal war. Taking a deep breath, he felt a momentary relief from his arm. Thanks to Charles and that healing pulse. He managed to see the princess although he was not in a good space. “I know…I’m sorry. I can only fight with one good arm now. You should take charge, Elise!”

Cinder, unlike her fellow dragon, was more versed in combat. She easily avoided the Night Slash aimed at her and was about to retaliate when she heard a roar from Madrona. Turning, she saw the Hydreigon’s three heads, normally so fierce, now limp as her body was pierced right through the heart. Madrona met Cinder’s eyes, offering her close friend a final, sad smile before collapsing to the ground. The dragon was dead.

Cinder didn’t know how to react. The shock hit her hard; they were companions in arms. She had trained Madrona since the moment she was caught, acting as a mentor to the younger dragon. Now, Madrona is gone forever. Cinder let out a screeching roar, her fury echoing across the battlefield.

Cadeyrn had no time to mourn. His gauntlet felt strange; he looked down at his Mega Ring and then over to his Charizard, their eyes locking in understanding. “Do what you must.” Pokemon and trainers knew they had no choice but to pull everything they had. The Mega Stone shined with a powerful glint, and within seconds, Cinder underwent a Mega Evolution, her body surging with newfound energy.

She didn’t hesitate to unleash a fury of blue flames at the Dragapult, her wrath fueling the attack. Her eyes blazing with an intensity that matched of her trainer own and something darker much much darker.

Cade hesitated for a moment, questioning his decision to send Elise away. It wasn't because she lacked strength or courage—far from it. With the shard of Calyrex in her possession, she was a formidable ally. Yet, as he stood there with nothing but determination gripping his heart, he knew sending her away had been necessary. There were unspoken words between them, a silent understanding of the sacrifices demanded by their cause. The people needed her voice, her hope, more than they needed his sword.

The masked man's words cut through the chaos like a knife, slicing deep into Cade's resolve. Each taunt was a deliberate jab, aimed to unsettle and provoke, and they struck their mark. Cade clenched the hilt of his sword tighter, steeling himself to face the enemy and protect the princess. He intercepted the masked assailant, cutting off his pursuit as he tried to exploit Elise's departure. Rage ignited in Cade's eyes as he faced his adversary. "She's not afraid. She's smart enough to choose when and where to fight. But if you crave bloodshed, I'll gladly show you."

Glancing briefly at Charles, Cade felt a surge of gratitude for his ally's unwavering support. But strength alone could not quell the storm of hatred swirling in his mind. "No, this is between you and me now. Let's settle this," Cade declared with a chilling smirk, his sword raised in challenge as he lunged at the masked antagonist.

As the dragon's darts closed in, Hydreigon prepared for impact, however someone else intervened just in time. Cinder leapt into the fray, shielding her friend from harm. With swift determination, she unleashed a blazing heatwave that engulfed both Dragapult and Doublade in searing flames; they managed to avoid it. Meanwhile, The hydreigon seized the opportunity, unleashing its potent Dragon Breath directly at Dragapult, intensifying their combined assault on their formidable foes.

The screams of terror and cries of battle were nothing new to him. Cadeyrn stood amidst the chaos as other league members fought against the masked grunts. Cinder led the charge, her flames scorching one of the masked women who would be lucky to escape with only third-degree burns. Nearby, Madrona used her whole body to deflect incoming darts, momentarily thrown back. She snarled before calming herself, almost relishing the challenge from her fellow dragon. She landed near Cadeyrn, who took a defensive stance.

“Let’s skip the threats, shall we? We both know how this ends,” he said, drawing his trusted sword. It had been with him since his days as captain of the royal guard. Though he was at a disadvantage against two-handed wielders, that mattered little now. “I’m not moving. Let’s see who falls.”

As he prepared for the fight, he caught a glimpse of Elise's anxious face. He knew the masked individual before him was ready to kill, and he steeled himself to be her barrier. Though he didn’t look at her, his resolve never wavered. “Focus on the evacuation, Björn will aid you. Help as many as you can. I promise I’ll be fine,” he shouted.

With that, he lunged at the masked attacker. His aim was for guy's shoulder. Madrona Work up getting ready herself at the dragon but... it was gone. She revealed too late was behind her and it was stoke yet again, sending her flying.

Madrona struggled to regain her footing. She was hurt-serious hurt but wouldn't show a ounce of weakness again her enemy then an unexpected ally emerged. Elise's Marshadow darted in from nowhere, attempting an Ice Punch. Madrona seized the opportunity, sneering as she charged, her jaws closing around the Dragapult with sheer might.
