Fight after fight after fight...how many had Quill gone through by now? At least two or three, right? It didn't seem to matter, considering he was still bounding with energy, but it helped to keep track. At least their efforts paid off, regardless of win or loss.

For once, Sio's able to get Quill to sit down for a bit- treating their Smeargle to a couple doggy biscuits while the two wait for their next opponent. And despite how calm he seems...yeah, Quill's tail is still wagging like crazy. He's getting paint everywhere...

So, this tournament deal was working out a lot better the more Sio and Quill involved themselves in it. Perhaps they'd write an article about it - if they weren't preparing for their next fight, that is. As it turns out, it's a lot harder to write on every single happening of a tournament when you're also taking part in said tournament...

So while Sio notes down their previous battles and how much they'd won, Quill is still bounding with energy- hopping about the battlefield and barking up a storm. He was ready to play! To fight! To go all out! Who would his next opponent be, anyways?

The more that Yip seemed to try and fail to counteract Quill's attacks, the more he in turn grows cocky and entertained. What was that thing again, Sio wondered...? Dragon-types are weak to themselves, ghost-types are weak to themselves...does that mean Smeargles are weak to other Smeargles?

But Quill doesn't have time to think about all that fancy school stuff! He's here to fight, and now, to win! Especially as he sees the pink blobs of paint and energy surrounding Yip from his Me First, he knows he needs to prepare something good- and fast.

So, furiously painting a bright pink shield, he'd howl and charge forward at Yip- hitting her with a Psyshield Blast!

The thing about Smeargles in comparison is that, wild they do have their wild relatives, they may not be as prepared for a wilder situation like a Ninetales...

And that trait shows itself off well, as Quill is unable to escape the Tera Blast and stutters back. Though, he isn't knocked out quite yet, so the facade stays just fine! Still trying to get a feel for his rather cheeky friend's moveset, and desperate to avoid the onrush of the Springtide Storm, he tries once again to unleash a hard hitting blow. With a mighty howl and tails a-spinning (which, he never had to get used to this many tails before), he cast a Blizzard to try and fight back!

Quill howls with laughter as Tsukiko is stuck sputtering and spitting out paint- this was too good, really! He even puts his paws up to his ears, sticking his tongue out and blowing a raspberry! This was all Way Too Funny to him.

But, this lighthearted whimy would soon come to an end, as he'd notice Tsukiko charging at him with the Dragon Hammer, he has to think of a way to deal with this quick! And so, drawing up a line of paint around himself, he Transforms into a fascimile of Tsukiko- immediately using Dig to try and avoid the hammer before coming up for another attack!

Quill bursts into his own fit of yapping laughter as Yip successfully eats paint. Yes! Victory for Quill! And honestly, Sio finds it pretty amusing too- clapping for their Smeargle with a pleased smirk on their face.

But now, here comes something fascinating! Though to Sio or Ettie the changes aren't much, Quill completely fires up seeing Yip Transform into another version of him. Those are his spots and tufts of fluff, dang it!

Despite all this, though, Quill is more than eager for a challenge. And so, seeing the pink painted shield coming his way, the Smeargle readies his own attack. Painting vigorous lines and splashes of black and purple, he charges at Yip with Bitter Malice!

Sio chuckles quietly at Makoto's reaction- though, she hums at the radiating warmth from the thief. She smiles back, nodding. "Oh, certainly. I'm hoping this will do the same for Quill. Maybe for once, he won't try to paint on my documents? She'd muse playfully.

Though, there really was no promise of that. Especially not when Quill was already vibrating himself, giving those same playful nips to Tsukiko.

And, seeing the fiery glow of Tsukiko's Terastallization, and the blast that was about to come forth...

"Quill, your turn! Me First on Tsukiko and give her a taste of her own medicine!" Sio shouts, with the Smeargle already spinning its tail and glowing with psychic energy! He rares himself back, aiming his tail like a blaster to fire burning, red and yellow paint from the end!

Quill waves back to Yip, just as happy to see the other Smeargle. Happy friends, and the thrill of a playfight!

Though, seeing the Tera Orb light up and Yip aiming a spray of greyish purple paint his was, Sio would immediately speaking up- ready for action. "Quill! Me First on Yip- fight fire with fire!"

With a spin of his tail- which now glows at the end with psychic energy, Quill is more than ready to spray a blast of glowing purple paint right back at Yip. He copied her Tera Blast!

Win or loss, Sio doesn’t seem all too bother by specific results just yet. Quill’s having a fun time getting to play with other pokemon, and Sio’s getting the thrill of competition all the same! Besides, they’re only just getting started!

So seeing her good friend Makoto and their ever eager Nintetales, she can’t help but snicker and wave. ”Makoto, darling! What a pleasure it is to see you here~!” they chime. Quill hops over to Tsukiko, yapping and bouncing along with her. ”I hope all’s been well, yes? I’m ready to begin whenever you are~”

A tournament, huh? While Sio seemed the calm type of confident about such a competition, Quill was all over the idea of fighting a whole bunch! Being able to play with so many other pokemon, and getting TREATS if he did good? Sign him UP!

As the two step onto the battlefield, Sio gives an amused hum at the scene while Quill yaps and barks right at Yip and Ettie! Friends! "Well, what a fun surprise seeing you here, Ettie! Ready to play?"  Sio muses, hands resting on their hips and smiling softly.

An explorer definitely made more sense, at least to the detective. Besides, even if a place such as Hoenn was well charted, that didn't mean there weren't still things to explore and discoveries to make!

"Really? Is that so? My, I just might have to question you further on how that works some other time, then!" Sio remarked, giving an amused hum at the end. Sure, they knew the base concept of riding pokemon, but seeing it firsthand like now? Witnessing it all unfold up until the final catch? It was more mesmerizing than even the new wild pokemon that had shown up!

The Type: Null that approached Sio seemed to pique their curiosity at first; and clearly not fazed or frightened, they'd slowly reach a hand out. Should she accept, they'd be more than happy to provide her with some pets. "I see, how wonderful. You already met Quill, but this is Kaló, and--" They pause, giving an amused chuckle as a curious Sinistea peaked out from behind them at Shalin- wait, had it been here this whole time? "...And this is Chamomile," they finish, with the aforementined Chamomile giving a cheery gurgle and wave in turn.

On purpose or not, Sio was clearly one for theatrics; so even if there was no intention of flirting, framing it all as a waltz made it sound smoother and more fun, right? Though moving away from that, the detective keeps the count going at a hushed whisper- enough for the two of them to hear without drawing much attention from the other skaters on the lake.

It certainly helped that Makoto had taken to murmuring the chant along with her- it put a small, softer smile on her face, even! With this shared boost of confidence, she'd even dare to lead the two into making a few turns- around this way and that way, to form a little figure eight! Sure, stopping is still something of hesitant and unsure matter, but who needed that right now with the nice flow of curving movements?

As for Quill, he can't help but howl and bark eagerly along with the Sneasel's joy! He was doing great! They'd both caught onto the name of the game perfectly! Similarly, he'd yap to Kama once he'd reached the bottom of the hill, before immediately making the trek back up to the top, tail wagging all the while. There was no time to waste, not when they were already having so much fun skiing for the first time! Again, again!

Being someone who made their residence in Slateport City, Sio wasn't always too aware of the rumors that stretched to the further ends of the vast Hoenn region.

But then again, the howling of canids was always easy to hear- especially on dusky walks like this one. Such a curious thing, how such sounds carried across the winds.

As the detective sets out on foot to determine just what kind of pack was causing so much ruckus- both for their own curiosity and everyone else's safety- it's abundantly clear that a different canine is just as curious. Quill, the ever eager Smeargle, sniffs the ground in front of Sio, tail wagging furiously as he tries to find this mysterious pack...

Maybe they were getting closer, but who could really say...?
