The HYDRO PUMP instantly transformed into an ice sculpture with the help of the SHEER COLD inflicted by the abomasnow. Had the attack targeted Bruno instead, Nabi wasn't so sure the swampert would have made it out of this battle with functioning limbs.[break][break]

"ROCK SLIDE!" she yelled. With the abomasnow returned to normal, now was the time for them to take the advantage and overpower her with their physical strength.[break][break]

Bruno rallied himself for what would be his final move -- an avalanche of rocks formed together and dove straight forward the opposing abomasnow.[break][break]

The mega mawile's speed and agility proved a menace to the swampert. His attack missed, and within seconds, his opponent was back on him, landing a hard-hitting IRON HEAD straight at his jaw.[break][break]

Bruno's teeth clicked on impact, nearly biting his tongue. At this rate, Nabi surmised the battle would end soon, with her and Bruno taking the loss.[break][break]

She gave an order for a MUDDY WATER, hoping to cover the field in a long range attack and catch the mawile in its waves.[break][break]

The intensity of the BLIZZARD, combined with the already falling snow, forced Bruno to hold himself and curl up into a ball. Even Nabi who was standing outside of the ring found herself suddenly shivering and rubbing her arms for warmth. Thankfully, the BLIZZARD was not enough to bring them down just yet. "C'mon!" Nabi called out to her swampert. "Use your HYDRO PUMP!"[break][break]

It was so cold now, parts of the battlefield had frozen over, including remains of Bruno's previous attacks. He struggled against the cold and shook in his delivery of the HYDRO PUMP.[break][break]

Just as Nabi was starting to feel hopeful that they could win this battle, the pikachu had to go and turn into a kaiju. She gawked at the size of the electric mouse's body and his characteristic zigzag tail, now glowing with an immense amount of electrical energy. Bruno was a step away from being crushed by the fat mouse.[break][break]

"Dodge, dodge, dodge!" Nabi panicked, uncertain of how else to instruct her pokemon to avoid the incoming attack. Bruno flailed in his efforts to move out of the way, but the MAX GEYSER was near-impossible to defend against. He attempted to cushion the damage by surrounding himself in another ROCK SLIDE. An explosion covered the field - the audience waited in anticipation![break][break]

Bruno covered his face to protect against the FAIRY WIND. Nabi was just about to give the next order when she heard the referee call the match. Nabi sighed in relief. It had been another close battle for her and Bruno and one of their few wins.[break][break]

She walked out to where her swampert stood and praised him for a job well done. "Your klefki was stronger than it seemed," she said to Marianne Lovelace, genuine in her words. Pokemon always found a way of surprising her, no matter their appearance or their size. "It was a fun battle. Good luck in your next one."[break][break]

She bowed her head and then turned on her heel, exiting the battlefield with her swampert by her side.

Bruno raised his arms to defend against the SHADOW BALL. A mini explosion surged when it thrust against him, causing the swampert to stagger back. He quickly shook his head and regained his senses.[break][break]

This time, the swampert kept his aim focused on the sylveon in hopes of making a direct hit.[break][break]

At the sight of the familiar jolts, Nabi yelled, "Don't be an idiot this time, Bruno--use your PROTECT!" She was afraid he would run straight through a full-on electric attack once more.[break][break]

Just in time, Bruno blocked against the DISCHARGE with a well-timed barrier. The electricity deflected, hitting against the wet ground that surrounded them.[break][break]

"ROCK SLIDE, go!"[break][break]

Water splashed up as the swampert slammed his heavy-handed palms at the ground. Around him, rocks formed and hovered, until they formed into a singular attack, much like a wave, to descend at the pikachu.[break][break]

A charging mega-evolved abomasnow would be frightening to anyone, even the cocky swampert Nabi had managed to tame. Bruno kicked off his feet to regain distance and avoid the onslaught of the powered-up RAZOR LEAF, but avoiding that proved most difficult. Despite his efforts, the swampert felt multiple leaves cut against his exterior. It had been a devestating move.[break][break]

In return, Bruno readied another MUD SHOT to try and slow his opponent's movements.[break][break]

There was no time to avoid the DISARMING VOICE in the midst of his own attack. Bruno cried as the rings pulsated against his body. It was enough to bring him to a knee, heaving from tiredness and pain.[break][break]

"Hang in there, Bruno!" Nabi tried to cheer her swampert on. She could see her victory slipping away. For such a small creature, that pikachu could sure pack a punch. "HYDRO PUMP, now!"

It was the perfect time to get their leg back in the game. While the pikachu was dazed from the SUPERSONIC, Bruno blasted out a HYDRO PUMP.[break][break]

Nabi whistled at the sight of the two waves colliding and mixing, brown into blue, like a terrible cooking mishap had just happened. In the mess of it all, Bruno had toppled over and was slapped around by the SURF. His head bobbed in the water until it mysteriously dissipated.[break][break]

"Hit'em with a SUPERSONIC!" Nabi yelled out to Bruno.[break][break]

The sound of the piercing SUPERSONIC sang from Bruno's throat into the direction of the pikachu, causing lingering water droplets to vibrate on the ground.[break][break]

Nabi stared blankly, taking a moment to register that she had won the battle. Her swampert was so near exhaustion, it seemed to her that the loss was inevitable. And yet, somehow, it was her name being called for victory.[break][break]

Nabi recollected herself with a shake of her head and some quick hair adjustments. She tried to remain composed as she met with Shalin to exchange their final words, as if winning had been her plan all along. "Yyyyeeep, same to you!" the pink-haired woman replied, a slip of her tongue showing her underlying insecurities.[break][break]

It was time for her and Bruno to hit up a Pokemon Center.

Nabi bit her bottom lip when she saw the familiar glow of mega-evolution in process. From the get-go, huh? It just meant they were going to have to work even harder.[break][break]

Bruno braced himself for the mawile's attack. The ICE PUNCH connected with his chest, his opponent's mega-evolved power inflicting more damage than he had anticipated before. Still, there was plenty of fight left in the swampert.[break][break]

With a big inhale, Bruno released yet another attack from his mouth--this time, it was his HYDRO PUMP.[break][break]

The swampert rushed in on all fours, head lowered to barrage straight through the ELECTRO BALL. His body shimmered with mini bolts of electricity, but Bruno could stand to take a few electric shots. With the match still early, he was cocky. From where she stood, Nabi shook her head and sighed, wishing her pokemon would be more cautious about these types of things. Even if he naturally resisted the pikachu's attacks, that didn't mean he was immune to them. Sooner or later, that thinking was likely to bite him in the rear.[break][break]

But as the thrill of battle was the only thing on Bruno's mind right now, he did not care that his limbs were feeling a little more tender than before after taking on the ELECTRO BALL. He pivoted into a MUDDY WATER then, aiming to throw the opposing pikachu off balance.[break][break]

Well, Nabi thought to herself, if she lost this, at least all she would owe would be a donut. Even a poor gal like herself could afford that much.[break][break]
