Pink fades to red. Perhaps Duncan was having a little too much fun. But the way she almost seemed like she didn't know herself that well... his smile shrinks a bit, but recovers its same size. Perhaps... he too...[break][break]

Hm.[break][break]

Sure enough, she readjusts. She's able to catch herself back in her hands, those cute little fidgety hands that sit in front of her skirt. Her excitement was something she was confident in, and the eagerness is not lost in him. Passion. That's what he reads on her. And when she finishes, even noting that some had come with her today, here to the exhibit, little Sparrow begins to take flight towards Moroe. Duncan's golden eye rests on them, and he leans down.[break][break]

A Zorua. No, not a Zorua. It's something different. Yet, it is. With a hand clasped to his more rugged chin, his smile shrinks, but the moment Sparrow would perch nearby, he merely tweets a little song, a tune whistled out through the beak to the Zorua.[break][break]

"Aye. Truly fascinatin'. Nev'r seen this subspecies. 'ello there, little one." He wanted to return passion back, share in her love of Hisui that she clearly had, but it is not something easy to fabricate. Sparrow had it covered though, as he turns back towards cute historian.[break][break]

"Got anymore, Yu'na? Ah, there I go ag'in. Yu-In-A. Yu'na." there he goes putting on the charm again almost to eleven. He wasn't careful, he'd make this random commoner have a crush on him.[break][break]

Maybe he just wanted her to be confident in that moment. Speaking on a topic she loved, that would help. Or maybe he got his sick kicks out of making such riff-raff blush? Who knew what Duncan felt behind his smile?

It really was fascinating, and Duncan enjoys the conversation. The way his shoulders just relax pleasantly, as if he's not holding his breath, and how he's attentive to every one of her words. She's shorter than him, a plus, smart. The way she seemed so gung-ho over history is admirable. Though for Duncan, there's just a wee bit more he likes.[break][break]

He likes the way her cheeks flush so brilliantly pink when he so happens to lay down a little compliment. The way he shows his perfect set of teeth make it harder, he's sure. And so when she clasps her hands together, and reveals her name...[break][break]

"Ah. Pretty 'istorian does have one," he chuckles, a hand coming to his lips, as he tries to be a little more polite. As such, he presses a finger to his temple. "Yu'na. I'll remember it well, lass. W'enever I think of Hisui, you'll be 'un my mind." Yeah, he's definitely enjoying seeing himself.[break][break]

He remembers that this, is how things always lean to the fake pregnancy accusations, and though his smile doesn't falter, he does reel back, just a bit as he eyes the Ursaluna types now.[break][break]

"How many species 'ave found their'oots in 'isui? Got a number, Yu'na?" He just barely misses the I in her name, a problem with his accent that he'll have to learn how to buffer out. Since yes, he does want to see her again. He says it again. "Yu-In-A," he mutters to himself.

Ah. How scandalous it would be, to get with what looks to be a studious librarian type. Not that the thought ever passed his mind. But by round frame alone, the glasses sat beautifully upon the bridge of her nose. A misconception, perhaps, but there was definitely a smart woman behind the glass, those brown eyes lovely. To that, even the white blouse, the skirt. All of it together has his smile grow a step more.[break][break]

Duncan almost never stopped smiling.[break][break]

"Oh? A new section of the exhib't?" His tone, once again colored by Galarian tongues, comes out as his lovely yellow eye peers out to gaze upon her. Though he never takes it much further than looking to her eyes. "Excitin', that," he chimes back, a little flirty, a little sweet, as he can't help himself but to show interest.[break][break]

If only.[break][break]

She lets the girl talk, showing Hisui off, a digital rendering of Jubilife Village, some information on Ursaluna. It was all impressive, quite astonishing. It's almost like the lass had been there the whole time.[break][break]

Only when she finishes, letting him look at everything, and Sparrow chimed out from his shoulder, that Duncan finally responds. "Lot'a things you can learn from a wee bit'a hist'ry," he adds in. "Nev'r have I seen such eye for detail." Though, how easily it could be to make up. He makes sure to take everything with a grin of salt.[break][break]

"Y'ur name, lass? Don'think callin' you pretty historian is all that flatterin', do'you? Mine's Duncan," his smile never falters, but his one showing eye is dangerously half-lidded to show interest.

Ah. Dragons.[break][break]

Magnificent beasts. A Hammerlocke specialty.[break][break]

Envy colors his heart, at the majestic nature that they had, but today was less pleasant. Today, he would go to assist, not by lieu of some job, but by his own volition. Because he felt like it. Well, partially. The Galarian Embassy was important to protect too. Which meant, he would have to be more forthcoming with his nature. Something he hated to do.[break][break]

Still. In his suit, as he loosened his tie completely, he holds his little Popplio, Fantasia, in a harness around himself, letting the little sea lion happily indulge. He just seemed like a happy, overly dressed babysitter, and for the moment, he was just that. Duncan the Babysitter.[break][break]

Then his eyes meet Elise Calcifet's. And any semblance of Duncan the Babysitter dies for the Duke of Hammerlocke.[break][break]

"Cousin." He says. He stands up straighter, a smile on his face. He was never seen without a smile, and this was no different. "Pleasure to see you again, even in such tumultuous times." he starts, a hand running through his fluffy white hair. "May I perchance, assist you?"

History is so easily rewritten.[break][break]

The black leather jacket sits upon his form, the massive man known as Duncan quietly tucks his way into a museum, a pair of sunglasses to cover his eyes, to obscure his identity. Once he's indoors, he pockets them, patiently walking over the floor of the museum itself. By snatching a pamplet, he would begin his once over of the interior and exhibits. A little map to assist in where, explanations of exhibits on the what.[break][break]

That's when he peers and sees that lovely little word. Hisui. A brow raises. There was set to be one soon. An exhibit for Hisuian History. Fascinating. He'd read in a book once or twice, having to be learned of the world. Now the world seemed intent to remember what can easily be forgotten.[break][break]

Still. Upon poking his head in, a lovely woman of fair brown hair stands, cleaning. She reminds him of maids, cleaning his estate in Hammerlocke. But this was a commoner, and so he did his best to act the part.[break][break]

Duncan, the oblivious fool. The sheep.[break][break]

"'ello there! Is the Hisuian Exhibit not open to the public?" he asks, Galarian-descent easy to tell by tone and accent alone. He stands tall, tall as 6'1'', with fair white hair. A golden gaze from one eye, the other hidden behind long hair that was styled into a big ponytail. On his shoulder, a little Wattrel, who chirps pleasantly. That was his little Sparrow.[break][break]

"I'm not too early, am I?"[break][break]

A charming smile. He often loved to flirt with commoners. It's only ever skin deep. He made be engaged, but his engagement ring isn't on right now, tucked away within his pocket, an easy escape if things get too heated.

DUNCAN CALCIFET

Not gonna cap, Duncan Calficet exists first and foremost, as a character idea asked of me from Arti, and the perfect storm came what with Jing Yuan. Add the two together, a little questioning to Oslo, and hence, here he is.

Duncan's characterization is best described by the hit Broadway show, Hamilton. If you know who Aaron Burr is, congratulations. You have a lot of the recipe I gave to Duncan. A charming man, who prefers to wait and see how things turn out before flipping the top card of the deck, to see where things land. Many might consider him to be a slothful man who prefers leisure to business, and while they may seem true at first...

There is more to everything than what first meets the eye. The Duke of Hammerlocke can, and has been known to, be cruel when benefits do not work for him or his people. He shows care for the Galarian people, and though the Hoenn factional war does not matter much to him, if it benefits Galar, he will listen. Negotiation will work 60/40, and he will never be the lower number without fighting tooth or nail.

He does, however, believe himself to be the smartest in the room. I usually play dumb characters, or at least, not the most conventionally book smart. Jack Magnus is the clearest exception, but I also believe he doesn't have his shit together fully. For once, I want to play the smartest person in the room, who always is in control. I'm not going to put an IQ number to him though. Actions speak louder than words, and what he does, I hope, will demonstrate my desire to play smarter than just saying 'he's smart'.

Ashley Shepard may be too dumb to live but cursed to do so. Genevieve Cromwell might be my sweet little determinator. Troy MacQueen may be my dysphoric sociopath killer. and Jack Magnus might be my flirty and zesty gang leader. But Duncan Calcifet is his own beast.

WHAT DRIVES ME

So, what does Duncan want then? Well, this is separated into two categories: for himself and for Galar

Himself: I don't mean to troll, but his is part of the game. I'm giving this information easily. He won't say much himself, but a hint will suffice; he does want something. By looking between the lines, one can see quite a lot. Think of it like a puzzle.

Galar: This one he wears on his sleeve. He wants better for Galar. But to which side has he aligned himself with? He is in Hoenn to see about Remiel Calcifet by the Queen, forced into a marriage he does not want with @estelle by that same Queen. So in what way does he want betterment for Galar? Well, the people clearly. But is that all there is?

HERE IS WHAT HE WANTS

Two faces: The Duke of Hammerlocke and the Man simply known as Duncan. What do you have to offer him?

For Duncan

Genuine relationships. Duncan is a genuine person. The moment you know his status, it taints your view of him. If you know him as Duke, it colors his thoughts on you too.
Friendships. Enjoying life's quiet moments are a big part of Duncan's life. In a way, it's almost cathartic.
Smarts and wits make him pause, and play with banter. He loves banter.
Past flings / Exs.

For the Duke of Hammerlocke

Suitors who never worked out or were rejected. He's done it a lot. He's cold in that way. He will act coldly to them.
