chu-e just ate a rock.

priam stares in disbelief, trying to see if he'll actually chew it.

the expression of shock is obvious, but despite all his efforts, he can't hide it. he seemed too invested to see how it will all develop, if chu-e can, indeed, digest a rock without getting an upset stomach.

no words come from his mouth, though they remain agape.

"oi, look!"

priam points towards a few grunts in a weird uniform.

"do you think we can take them out and get their pokemon?" he asks parker.

there had been reports of the drk triad lingering around the area, and nikkari and priam both seemed interested enough to hunt them down. it didn't take them long to locate them.

they usually have unown and nothing else. priam thinks that's a good enough reason to go for the easy targets for their pokemon instead of the actual bigshots.

priam sits cross-legged on the ground, watching a drill cut through earth and rock to extract precious tera crystals from the ground.

their job was simple: guard the thing while it does its job. the scientists and other experts was to come back later that day to get the data from the machine itself, while being escorted by those that would be ferrying the byproduct of their research from area zero to sootopolis.

it was too simple though that priam finds it too boring.

he can't even strike up a conversation with the person with him on the site. as much as he wants to hide it, choi's days during the initial rocket invasion were difficult to ignore. he grows restless, all to avoid being noticed by the previous scourge of kanto.

"that's mister conrad to ya!" he corrects atreyu after he calls him guy, doubling as an introduction.

he approaches when he realizes he wasn't too bad in these kinds of scenarios. the espeon he was with comes with him, firing a sludge bomb at the weird misdreavus, confident that the other trianer's pokemon won't mind being splashed with poison.

"a paradox pokemon," he answers him. "i think they call this one flutter mane."

with their pokemon on the case, he turns to atreyu.

"did you come to hoenn without knowing that?" there doesn't seem to be any judgement in his tone. "ooh! you get to experience all the cool stuff for the first time! i wish i can do that again, but you can only get a first impression once."

priam looks at the latias from afar, watching it as he gauges the effects of toxic chain on a legendary pokemon.

"so, what do you think, espy?"

the espeon grimaces. there's no joy in its eyes and the enthusiasm that priam is exhibiting isn't reflected by the pokemon.

torrential rain pours down from the sky, after all, drenching everyone that happens to be within the vicinity of the latias. they wouldn't be the only ones around, since he knows a lot will attempt to help the pokemon once the news catch on.

"no reaction, huh?"

reference the weather (tropical rain or weather moves).

If your character already has the maximum of 20 mochi, they will only receive 3 mochi and will NOT TAKE UP A BONUS MOCHI SLOT.

the espeon now has a scarf on.

"let's just destroy all of 'em," he tells his pokemon.

knowing they were poison chains, priam was so big brain he thought of bringing a psychic-type to blow up athe statues. one by one, psychic turns each effigy into smithereens.

it turns out to be for the better once the people around them start getting free from their chains.

destroy the stone effigies/statues; doing so will free the trainers and their pokemon from their toxic chains (the first 15 characters will receive 5 mochi; the rest will receive 3 mochi. if your character already has 20 mochi, they will only receive 3 mochi).

priam teases THEO BECKETT over the phone, not bothering to taper his young people jargon because he knows the old guy can somehow make sense out of it. his expression is warm, joyous.

"tell me about the person you're going on an adventure with. bet they aren't as cool as i am."

but before they can get into the nitty-gritty, theo says he is called away for another assignment, ending the call.

"typical..."

thankfully, a mule runs into him.

"oh, pog? why not?"

from his bag, he takes out a container used to safely transport vials. he opens the metallic box for caden to pick and choose from the toxins they brought.

most of them were extracted from ultra beasts and other mixtures of poisons, but antidotes were also provided in the case of misuse. the one who gave it to priam most likely had him in mind.

"here ya go! take your pick! it's all labeled properly and stuff too."

one look at each vial of poison already makes it obvious that priam had fun with the label printer.

with the sun growing stronger, the presence of paradox pokemon seemed promising. protosynthesis, as their ability is coined, was one of the easiest signs they can find to track them down.

"look at 'em!" priam exclaims as they near the paradox pokemon. "it's all three!"

the entire collection were sunbathing by the waters, snoozing and having fun under the sun.

their distance from the pair, alongside their sleepy mood at the moment, lends priam and caden time to observe. as enthusiastic as priam sounded, he made sure to respect boundaries.

"what's the move now?" he asks caden. "surely, we can observe them better if they're sleeping."

probably not. priam has spent enough time in the labs to know that seeing one in action gives a much better approach for observation. it was a safer alternative though.

"we'd probably still just stay near the coast though."

he answers caden's question by releasing his samurott. the two of them probably can't ride it since it's not a special kind of pokemon from ancient hisui despite being categorized as a hisui variant.

and then he judges his choice of words.

"ja ja ja," he tries to explain. "calling 'em cute makes you sound like a gangster, y'know? the tough and badass kind!"

technically, they both can be considered one already given rocket's nature.

they eventually reach the body of water. peaceful and serene, one looks like it's a scene in a paradise had it not been infested with dangerous creatures.

"i haven't yet!" he tells caden. "isn't it exciting? we both get to see it for the first time? we'll get each other's live reaction!"

priam tries to talk to one of the infected townies of lavaridge, only to be ignored. instead, they sic their own pokemon at them, which was so rude.

"aw, cute, you guys have matching scarves!"

the espeon blasts them with psychic, knocking them out while getting rid of the chains around their bodies. priam turns to his pokemon as soon as they disappear.

"we should get the same thing."

use a PSYCHIC-TYPE Pokemon.

"i heard stuff that one's a fire-type, and another's a water-type, and the third one's an electric-type."

priam takes a look at the notes caden shared with him. "i guess this is the fire-type."

he returns them to him.

"isn't it cute that they come in groups of three? it's like, hey, the paradox pokemon from the kyurem thing's exciting, let's have a part two, or somethin' like that!"

he would love to ramble more, but there was work to be done. he orients himself back to the objective and points caden to a direction where the faint sound of moving water seems to come from.

"but if we're looking for living pokemon, then a water source is a good place to start! i think they're not the robot kind so they should still drink water."
