Perhaps, they are attempting to ingest the mochi to make their claws more virulent. More potent. These same claws allow Sneasler to scale the rugged cliffs with ease.[break][break]

This ancient species must be dispersed before they harm innocent hikers—or become frenzied TOXIC CHAINED killers.

Honestly, Cillian's not one to talk. He should have turned around and left the moment he spied one of the purple discs of MOCHI littered on the ground. He can already feel the nausea climbing up his throat.[break][break]

One of the Sneasler look up, clawed hand resting on its hip. She has nicer NAILS than he does, and Cillian took good care of his own. Well-filed, never bitten, even length. But this Sneasler's magenta claws were tipped with deep purple. He might've mistook it for a stylistic choice, a POLISH, if not for the MOCHI she gripped in her other claw.[break][break]

His Delphox does her best to neutralize the threat with a PSYBEAM, and Cillian reaches for a ball.

Normally Sailor didn't pay attention to the alerts that came through about the Pokémon outbreaks, but this one caught their attention -- a Sneasler, huh?[break][break]
So that was how they, along with their newly caught Weezing and their Obstagoon, went to the location specified and sure enough. A bunch of Sneasler were prowling around.[break][break]
They looked at their perfectly manicured nails and said, with a bored tone, "Alright Obstagoon, use Headbutt and Weezing, use Clear Smog and make sure to target one that looks strong. Go."[break][break]
Being able to add one to their growing team would be nice, Sai smirked as they readied a ball.[break][break]

Once more an outbreak of Pokemon affected by these toxic chains has sprouted out from seemingly out of nowhere. This time a horde of Sneasler making a mess with their claws coated by venom like nail polish. Throughout the area, the same mochi he's seen throughout every incident are scattered across the canyon. Still unsure of just what they mean, he would sooner or later get to the bottom of this.[break][break]

Speaking of problems, one Sneasler managed to cross paths with the trainer. Not wanting to take any chances, Noel brings out his trusty Shaymin out to take care of this problem. With an Earth Power, rugged spikes spew out from the ground that make quick work of the giant Weavile-wannabe. One down, many more to go.

Normally a stroll under the sun dappled paths through Petalburg Woods worked just fine. And really, maybe he should stop branching out because once again, when he deviates from the norm, he runs into trouble.[break][break]

What a pickle.[break][break]

Benji ponders what in the world to do as he stares at the pack of sneasler from a short distance. “They look awful tough,” he murmured, to which Bao yipped in defiance. His brow rises as he looks down at the fidough. “You’re the least likely combatant for that type.” Another yip. Unfortunately, he would not be letting the little pooch play rough with the lot.[break][break]

Stalled out, he continues to watch the swarm with observational interest. “Lookit the claws on those things. Think they’d let me give them a manicure?” No doubt it’d be negating a safety hazard if he managed.[break][break]

Curious, he throws a ball into the mix—just at one of the little ones. Those look hella easier to work with.[break][break]

"it's the long sneasel, espy!"

priam points at the sneasler swarm, navigating through jagged pass haphazardly.

his espeon, on the other hand, forces himself to take the lead, steering the path his trainer was taking free from the mochi that littered the area. they saw the effects of it, and the espeon doesn't want any of it affecting his trainer.

"long sneasel, long sneasel..."

priam hums his little song as he snags an empty ball from his pockets, scratching its surface with his newly manicured nails. it chips against the pokeball's hull unbeknown to him when he throws it at the swarm.

"Belle, now!" Thea called the Minccino while Gominha and Zeus tried to keep Thea, Cass and Hammy safe and sound. The little Minccino snuck from her hiding, letting out a sneaky Sing to slip into the Sneasler's ears, sending it down.[break][break]

Thea let out a sigh, and pouted a bit. "I wanted our time together to be a little less agitated—" She complained, looking at Cass with a faint smile. The swarm was very cute, but these Pokémon were getting a bit too hostile. "I'm glad we didn't do our nails before coming here..." After all, it was a silly idea to do the nails before having to hike a bit.[break][break]

Still... "Talking about nails, it looks hurt, doesn't it?" Thea approached, looking at the wounded claws. The Toxic Chain around its neck didn't look nice either. "I will break this weird poisoned chain thing, can you take care of the claw? You are great with these stuff." Thea asked, pulling a small healing potion from her bag and giving to Cass. She never left her home without some first aid on her, after all.[break][break]

Whenever they would be done with it, Thea would stand up, looking at the now freed and healed Pokémon with a sad smile. "I think it is better for us to wait it to wake up first, just to be sure." She offered a hand to Cass, to help her to stand up, and also just to
hold it gentle and stay close to her friend. "It may be a good time for some camp food too!" The swarm was still ongoing, after all, and it was still a pretty swarm to look at, at least the ones who hadn't been affected by the chains.[break][break]

Cass more or less enjoys coming to swarms - ah, who was she kidding, she really liked it. However, they're taking a darker turn, as she's trying to disperese these ancient pokémon left and right, discouraging them from eating any of these cursed poisonous mochi. "These will not help you, trust me," she says as she commands her pokémon to gently help with breaking up the swarm.

"Got stopped just in time by the news," Cass agrees, looking at her nails and frowning. "They really might need a touch-up, however ... oh dear." While they look immaculate to anyone else, Cass seems to be terrified at the sight of her hands. "Let's go get our nails done when the swarm's calmed down."

She frowns as Thea points out a particular pokémon, but immediately nods. "Hey, queen, no worries, we're gonna get that fixed. Oh, sorry, king? Anyway, let me help you," she starts talking with a firm, gentle voice to the pokémon, taking out some of her own, basic tools to take care of her nails after she's healed it up a bit. She only does some quick work, but the claw's starting to look better already, cheering the pokémon up as well. It falls asleep almost immediately after Cass' done, it must be exhausted.

"As long as it's not mochi-shaped, I think I've seen enough of those ..." Cass laughs as the situation has calmed down a bit, and eventually also tries to throw a pokéball into the swarm, seeing if anything sticks.

[attr="class","aurelie_body"]Aurelie had never been particularly fond of Poison-type Pokemon, and the recent outbreaks of TOXIC CHAINed Pokemon poisoned by mysterious mochi all over Hoenn hadn't endeared them to her in the least. Still, the sight of a crowd of Sneaslers had never made her feel sick to her stomach before. She swallowed hard as one approached her and her Bronzong, its claws gleaming a virulent purple as if they'd just received a fresh coat of nail polish.

Yumi had heard of the strange outbreaks of aggressive Pokémon throughout the region, but she never expected to be caught in the middle of one while traveling through Jagged Pass. A pair of Sneasler accosted her on the trail, claws and fangs bared. [break][break]

"What a nuisance," she grumbled, her MANICURED hands plucking two Pokéballs from her belt and tossing them forward. [break][break]

Her Starmie and Gothitelle emerged in flashes of light. "Take care of these," she ordered. [break][break]

Blasts of PSYCHIC from both Pokémon quickly subdued the Sneasler. Yumi tossed a third Pokéball, an empty one, in an attempt at capturing one. [break][break]

On a morning like any other, while commuting to Lavaridge General from Mauville, Doug came across a not entirely unusual, yet still curious sight.

"Another swarm, huh?" He observed astutely.

A rather unusual species at that— Sneasel weren't known for their tolerance to heat. It was weird to see them outside of Shoal Cave, let alone this far near a volcano.

Perhaps the mochi strewn about the place had something to do with it. It tended to pop up wherever those weird toxic chains did as well, and it almost never ended well for those involved.

But it was their evolutions that he was far more interested in.

"That's not a Weavile." Doug muttered to himself, palming a pokeball.

loved these ancient what'chamacallits, so... maybe he could get a gift for her!

Swarms of poison type Pokemon or other afflicted species had been showing up all over the region since the toxic chain had began to spread, so it was no surprise to hear of another environmental upset in the mountains. However, what did concern Yuina the most as she flew on Harrow's back to the cliff sides, was the species that had been named as the culprit.[break][break]
It was easy to see them, clung to the sides of the mountain sides, their claws making the journey up or down as easy as walking on solid ground. Sneasler were all over, and while Yuina would have loved the opportunity to see more of them in a habitat of sorts, almost as if it were natural for them to be here, to study them more, see if their claws varied in shapes and styles much like nails did, there were more pressing matters.[break][break]
How had so many shown up all at once? Were they actually acclimating to the region and there had been enough displaced by distortions that they were beginning to breed? Was there a recent time-space distortion that did bring them here? Was the lingering energy there that could open another one? What if the mochi and the threat of the toxic chains seeped into the fabrics of a time space distortion... What if an afflicted Sneasler made it back? Hisui would be in terrible danger...[break][break]
Yuina had to act fast, the implications of what this gathering could mean were dire, and she wasn't going to let anything happen to the Sneasler or to Hisui...[break]
Rushing through the air astride Harrow's shoulders, Yuina worked with the Braviary to disperse and destroy as much of the mochi that they could find. Nyla clung to the cliff sides and challenged as many Sneasler for their own mochi as she could, to take it away from any of her kind that had it already so that they couldn't consume it. They wouldn't stop, not until they didn't see another trace of Mochi in the area...

It was insanity. First giant moths and butterflies-- and now vicious little creatures with sharp razor claws. Zachary was uneased by them, eating all this poisonous mouchi-- and now attacking strangers for no reason. Zachary and Dizzy stood before it all, as the Sneasels were in a full berserk state. [break][break] "This is insane. If this goes on, they will really hurt someone." Zachary told Dizzy-- whom nodded in agreement. The Sneazel soon took notice to Zachary and his Delphox, beginning to charge in. Despite their number, Zachary felt confident in their abilities to subdue them. [break][break] As the Sneaslers came running-- Dizzy's eyes glared at them. With a fox's cry, sparks of psychic power formed around him. "PSYSHOCK NOW!" Zachary urged. With his words, Dizzy released a barrage of psychic sparks that flew all over the Jagged Pass. The barrage of psychic explosions caused chaos among the rampaging Sneaslers. Among their chaos, Zachary was not about to let them rally back up. [break][break] "Alright, Dizzy. Now use Psychic!" Dizzy's response was his eyes glowing with a psychic light. Any remaining Sneaslers glowed-- caught in the fox's telekinetic grip. With a shove of his paw, Dizzy sent them flying-- repelling them and detering them away from their rampage. [break][break] The psychic fox and the psychic trainer held their own, determine to do their part to stop this outbreak of poison taking grip over their new home. [break][break]

Sneasler; there certainly wasn't a pokemon with a more fabulous manicure than these poison-types. Were this under any other circumstance, El would be absolutely fascinated with watching this normally solitary species gathering in one spot...

... But, the presence of the poisonous mochi is a concerning one - that, and the fact that these lone hunters are where hikers are known to pass through.

To be in Jagged Pass again - and so close to home - is a strange feeling. But in the moment, they simply focus on the task before them, having Bibidi and Huckebein encourage the swarm to disperse with their psychic attacks.

A pair of sunglasses would be nice right about now. And he totally had one. He’d just forgotten about them after shoving them into his hairs. “Dang! Those things are tall! Look at those legs!” His Incineroar nodded. Her arms crossed grumpily across her chest. An elbow jabbed into the fiery cat’s hips. He grinned up at her. His smile was innocent. “Makes you jealous, huh?” Blue eyes stared daggers into her trainer’s eyes. “Roa.”

Those eyes flashed with disgust. That smile faltered as the penny dropped. “Whoa! Ew!”

His cheeks flared scarlet. “I—I didn’t mean it like—it’s a Pokemon.” Up went a bushy black brow. He scratched awkwardly at his nose. “I just meant that they can, you know, reach tall shelves and stuff.” Judging by the huff, the Alolan Pokemon wasn’t impressed. Still, Biscotti knew JJ enough to see the little tilt to her smile. The big softie was teasing.

The cat’s amusement ends as a disc of purple goo falls from the sky. It slides down her face like a cartoon pancake before flopping onto the ground. “Uhhhh. Doesn’t this look—?” His scarred hands reach toward it. Bright, freshly painted nails lock around his wrists and jerk him back to his feet. It seems the girls had a mani-pedi day.

“Hey!” Shoving him behind her, Jangle sets the purple thing on fire. The smell that follows is acrid—like Hammerlocke smokestacks.
