Thea's heart sank when trying to touch Ogerpon's heart didn't seem to work. Even with others trying to give a hand, it seemed hopeless at first, even if she felt a bit grateful she wasn't the only one trying to reach out for it. Yet, another show of gruesome display was set in front of their eyes. More brutality, more suffering and torture, constantly reminding them of the horror of their kidnappers.[break][break]

More and more time passed, with the routine becoming harsher, and yet, Thea was unwillingly getting used to it, despite the forementioned display. Enough to keep her mind straight for most of part, especially when distracting herself with her cellmates and the familiar faces... And by the time the last day approached, every second holding onto hope weren't in vain. Cassandra Kubrick's words brought wide open eyes from Thea, that believed in her beloved friend, as absurd as everything sounded. After all, the situation was already absurd in the worst way possible, so one good absurd thing could happen to balance things out, right?[break][break]

... And so it did. The Toxic Chains, the ones that held them hostage for so long, were now working on their favor, and Thea nodded. "They are acting weird... But that's our chance—!" She said, feeling the chain wrapping around her limbs, spiraling around them, but not in a tyranical and restraining way. Instead, it felt like an encouraging embrace, one that chanted that everything would be fine.[break][break]

As the break occurred, Knight Naito's efforts to keep them safe brought a proud smile to Thea's lips. Her cousin fought for them, and as he left an opening by shielding them from the evil monkey, Thea tried to close the gap, feeling her body's energies renewed out of nowhere. "Let us go ALREADY!" She threw a punch on the monkey, and whoever would dare to approach Thea or her loved ones. She didn't care about the retaliation, she didn't care if her body couldn't muster the strikes she was going for. She bruteforced, using raw dumb power against that big brain wannabe monkey that was mockering her cousin. There was even a small hint of vengeful feelings on the first few strikes, before Cass hurried them up for a escape. Snatching her cousin in a princess carry, she complimented him proudly: "Great job, Kay! Rest up, we will need your help again!" She rushed, still feeling as energetic as ever, but still... A worry continued to crawl in her heart.[break][break]

There were many others to escape, and Thea's eyes shifted around, trying to see Eris Halla, Ettie, Andrea Vaneau, and many other familiar faces she had spotted through their endless torture days. Still... If their Toxic Chains were freed... Perhaps... "Cass! Do you see that Pokémon? The blinded one?!" She asked, noticing her friend also cared for the poor Pokémon.[break][break]

Toxic Chain Ability: Only Over My Dead Body - Thea's Toxic Chain resonates with her desire to stay strong until everyone is safe. The Toxic Chain enhances her endurance and stamina, allowing her to stay resilient and alert far above her usual. While protecting or helping someone, this ability powers up to the point even grave injuries will be suppressed (such as holding a broken limb tight and together, or forcing a wound close) until Thea is done with the task, which may cause a delayed, albeit more severe, pain/consequence later on.

Thea had hopes this horror wouldn't last for too long, but it felt like days and days passed without break to that suffering.[break][break]

When Knight Naito was suffering the ridiculous show case, Thea gritted her teeth, feeling helpless seeing her cousin being directly targetted by the monkey Pokemon. Thea wished to give that monkey a lesson, but the chain tightly wrapped around her neck seemed to have other plans, forcing a laughter out of her lips. Her eyes teared up, feeling humiliated while she was forced to laugh at her cousin. With Cassandra Kubrick's hand taking hers being the only comfort she had at the moment.[break][break]

As if that wasn't enough, the constant work with shards and going through the Feeding Pit never ended. Thea's hands were already used to the pain, and she not even once she regretted 'trusting' the other ward. For most of part, what still hurted was seeingnher friend, her cousin, Eris Halla and her brother Isaac Merlo and other faces that were becoming more and more familiar like Ettie and Andrea Vaneau.[break][break]

The constant beating coming from the masked Pokemon was another test of resilience. And while Thea grew angry at it at first, she reminded herself of Cass' reactions to it. And not only that... she realized the obvious: It was a victim just like them. [break][break]

She wondered if she could try to calm it down at some point, or perhaps even become friendly with it. And through the feeding pit moments, she continued to try to protect her friend and her cousin from it, but this time not trying to hit it back, but catching its attention and hoping she could change its behavior at some point... especially as tired as it was at this point.

Thea was relieved to notice she felt some brief laugh escaping her lips at Cassandra Kubrick's comment to Knight Naito's hair. She would cling on those positive feelings and dettach from the negatives as much as she could, even if it reached an unhealth point. The idea of drowning in the negativity that place was sowing made Thea's quiver, even more after reminding herself of how helpless she was when panicking in her cell.[break][break]

Cell which... Soon they were going to return. Thea swallowed at the reminder, and her eyes shifted to Cass as she mentioned the tubes once again. "Perhaps you are right... Being fully ignorant won't help us." She glanced at the tubes one last moment before they were guided somewhere else.[break][break]

The new clothes were welcomed, but Thea didn't feel grateful for it. They were signs of their stripped freedom, and she hated it. After changing her clothes, she hesitantly got into the cell again, staying close to her friend and cousin. The cell was small and tight, and looked like it was shrinking the more she stayed in there. But this time Thea was prepared, taking deep breaths and trying to keep her calm. "N-No, Kay. No one will have the floor." Thea said, assertively and reaching for her cousin's hand. "S-Sleep with us. We— I won't feel safe without you near me, I-I won't sleep well, and you won't sleep either." Thea countered Knight's selfless suggestion with her selfish necessities. How convenient.[break][break]

However, she wouldn't force her cousin to do it. And trying to squeeze herself on the sole bed they had, she embraced Cass back tightly, along with Knight if he joined them. Her eyes closed tightly, focusing only on the two persons she loved being near them, trying to distract her mind from the fact she was enclosed in a cell. Those thoughts made her mind calm down, relax, and eventually allowed her to dive into a strange dream...[break][break]

The situation overall was demoralizing and painful. Thea took a moment to recover from the beating, with Knight Naito's approach being the main reason she managed to snap back to reality. Listening to his voice, and feeling his gentle hug, Thea clung dearly onto her cousin, holding him close. "Of course... I-I'm glad you are alright, Kay..." She leaned away, looking at his eyes. "You would do the same... We are looking each other's back. I didn't want you to get hurt." Thea explained, getting back on her feet and staying close to her cousin as she watched the horror unfold further.[break][break]

Even the little girl she was so worried about had escaped her sight at that point, and Thea could only hope everything would be alright. Her eyes slowly turned to Cassandra Kubrick as well, seeing her friend's state with concern. "I am alright... And you?" She looked at her friend's eyes, and mustered a small smile. "I saw what you did. It was very brave of you, Cass." It gave Thea hope. In fact, the brutality was horrible, but what they did, kept fighting despite all the odds. It showed her the fighting spirit was still there. They were still defiant, they could still fight them off. But they couldn't be so hasty. Discipline and eventually outsmarting them would be the turning point.[break][break]

When everything seemed to be done... The fierce icy bath startled Thea at first before she calmed down. Her wounds stung as the shower clashed against them, but it was when the stupid moments she decided to train under a waterfall suddenly had an actual practical use. A mere shower didn't bother her too much, as uncomfortable as it was. She didn't miss Cass shivering, and she was worried Knight wasn't going to take it that well. Thea did what she could to not let her clothes get too wet, and upon listening to Cass' offer. "... Yes, actually. I would love to." She smiled weakly to her friend. A hint of normality in that horrifying predicament they were.[break][break]

She allowed herself to be at Cass' care, and whenever they were done and were being guided to somewhere else, Thea tried to stay warm with the clothes she tried her hardest to keep as dry as possible. Of course, it was a hard task, but whatever she had managed was a win.[break][break]

Cass' reaction to the grotesque scene wasn't missed by Thea, and when her friend leaned on her, Thea would embrace her closely with an arm, while using the other to keep her cousin close as well, trying to comfort them as they walked away. She felt safer with the two of them near her, and she wasn't willing to let them go, no matter what happened. The pain was still there, making Thea struggle, but her senses were still wary, and with the two people she cared the most near her, she had the privilege of being able to distract herself and take a look at her surroundings. "Look at me." She called for her friend. "... Let's focus what is in front of us."[break][break]

Has a small hint of hope growing in her. She feels they still have some fighting in them.

Tries to keep the attention of her friend and cousin on her, to keep them away from seeing any more horror stimuli.

Thea perked up. "So you are into horse riding, Lut?" She asked, smiling. "There is a guy I've met, Josh. He introduced me to some Pokémon riding, it was surprisingly fun." Certainly wouldn't be Thea's main hobby or activity, but it was enough to bring some adrenaline out, on top of being very useful.[break][break]

"I find your twintails adorable, so yeah. It is a shame it isn't practical. I don't even know how you do it with your hair. Maybe a friend of mine will be able to do it to mine, someday." The perks of having the best hairdress of the world as a friend would be helpful, if she ever decided to mimic Lut's hair style. Granted, with the way Thea was, chances were that such a hair wouldn't last for too long.[break][break]

A laugh escaped Thea's lips. "You are right, let's be careful." She watched Lut finishing their bun, and with a grin, she nodded.[break][break]

"Exactly! You help me a lot, Lut. It is my turn to give you a hand." Thea puffed her chest, confident as she gestured to the tatami. "Since today is usually an empty day, my father sometimes let me take care of the class when he needs to do something else!"[break][break]

A small smile crossed Thea's lips as Noah told her heart was on the right place. Her cheeks flushed, but her grin grew determined when he spoke of not letting it break. "I will do my best, that's why I don't train just my muscles..." Martial Arts helped the mind and the spirit as well, and Thea hoped she has been training both well.[break][break]

Zeus was surprised that the Hariyama actually buckled to the mat— "Don't leave room for recover!" She warned, and Zeus rushed, trying to aim for a focused Cross Chop.[break][break]

Gominha, on another hand, was surprised to see that even after trying to wrestle the Medicham, she still managed to go for a Drain Punch. She felt her vitality, that was usually quite bulk, escape her body. Weakened, she couldn't hold the grapple for long, and she rolled away as she released her opponent.[break][break]

"I can imagine..." Thea frowned her lips at her own memories. She couldn't help but think how someone that actually fought the Rockets off felt about it. "Have you ever got too close to losing your heart, Noah?"[break][break]

Thea laughed at Josh's condition to be interested in a Pokémon, with her eyes narrowing slightly as she rose an eyebrow. "I don't know, Josh. I have a feeling that if you could put a saddle in a Caterpie, you would." She teased a bit. He had shown her a lot of Pokémons that were very unorthodox mounts, being used as one as if it was completely normal.[break][break]

She would never expect she would be mounting on an Espeon out of all Pokémon![break][break]

When the Espeon in question speeded up, Thea grinned, bracing herself and trying to pick up on the stance. Of course, she wasn't completely skilled at it, in fact, far from it. But it was clear she was at least trying to do the right thing, leaving less work for the Espeon's Psych.[break][break]

Thea perked up at the mention of a Swoobat. "W-Wait, wouldn't it need to be like... The triple of its usual size?"[break][break]

As she spoke of sizes, she caught a Farigiraf by the corner of her eyes, with a smirk crossing her lips as she wondered if that would fit Josh's request. "Gominha, Belle! Put that Farigiraf to sleep!" She said, with her intention being clear for the Espeon, which prompted a maneuver she had to hold on tight.[break][break]

The singing of the Wigglytuff and the Minccino were focused on the Pokémon, and as it was drowsy and falling asleep, Thea pulled a Pokéball out, throwing it at the Farigiraf.[break][break]

Thea closed her eyes, nodding sagely at the sight she had just witnessed when Lut was done.[break][break]

They looked so cool, with a mix of cute and handsome that was intriguing. Thea suppressed a squealing, clearing her throat and nodding again, opening her eyes. "That looks really good. I thought I would need to help you, but you got it right away." She smiled. "Probably it is a Ranger thing to be very good with ties and knots!" Thea giggled, walking around Lut to make sure to see every inch of the gi was alright.[break][break]

With the confirmation that everything was fine, Thea showed a thumb up. "Perfect. As for bun and ponytails... I personally prefer Ponytails, but it is just because I feel cuter on them." She chuckled as she admitted a bit of vanity, even in a Dojo setting. "But either work just fine! As long as they help the hair to not get on the way. It is really bad if you get to do some grapple or ground work with your spar partner and suddenly there is hair getting on their face." Thea frowned.[break][break]

"If you feel the ponytail is still too big, go for a bun though." She added, looking at Lut's fairly long ponytail. But even then, she was sure it would be fine as long as it wasn't free to billow around.[break][break]

Thea held back a laugher at Cass' deadpan congratulation, looking at Pic and smiling warmly at him. "You did amazing, Pic. I've never seen someone mastering a Cross Chop so quickly!" Her eyes then shifted to her Primeape. "Good job being a good teacher, Zeus~" She complimented her Pokémon as well, and he oinked, waving his hand in a gesture that showed this was all Pic's credit and effort.[break][break]

Belle's ears perked up, and she approached carefully before hopping on the place she needed to stay for the fur care. Her face turned to Hammy, and she chirped waving her little paw, to catching his attention for him to look at how things would go. The little pawmo watched attentively, twitching one of his ears, but still keeping a safe distance.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Gominha felt like a goddess, striking all types of poses and beaming with charm, looking at Martin and chirping, patting near her in case he wanted to be part of the art too.[break][break]

Gominha gave little to no care about the background at the moment, only wishing to see herself painted by the artist that was so eager and passionate. She was in good hands for her haircare, and she was more than certain she was in good hands for the painting of a portrait she would hang over her bed.[break][break]

With the last touches of the cookie dough being done, Thea wrapped the dough to let it cool, letting out a joyful sigh as it seemed that everything was going neat and fine.[break][break]

Her eyes then shifted to the whiteboard, reading Fen's message and pondering about it for a moment, peeking at the two cookie doughs they had. Truly, maybe two types of cookies were fine, and working on cupcakes would be ideal, especially now that they would need to wait things to cool off anyway.[break][break]

Taking the whiteboard, Thea wrote swiftly:[break][break]

I agree, let's go for the cupcakes now. I think we could go for three fillings: Chocolate, Vanilla, and Blueberry. But if you want just two, or think another flavour would be better, let me know.[break][break]

She finished, glancing at Fen for a moment to see der immediate reaction before averting her eyes to not stare and to start organizing things again.[break][break]

Thea chuckled at Bella's way to speak about her approach to the Ghost hunting, and while she was chuckling at it, she couldn't help but think in the depths of her mind:[break][break]

This girl. I need to make sure she won't get in trouble. I need protect her.[break][break]

But even deeper in Thea's mind, she was subconsciously calling herself out, as she was no better and got herself into trouble plenty of times. In fact, wasn't she the one that asked her Primeape to punch her face so she could endure it a few weeks ago? Wasn't she trying to endure a Wigglytuff's Singing less than an hour ago? Truly, she couldn't say much without feeling like an hypocrite, so she settled with the idea of sticking around Bella, and having fun with her.[break][break]

Talking about doing reckless stuff... "I-Interrupted me? Uhm—!" Thea's cheeks flared up. How she would explain that? "O-Oh, don't worry about that. I was just going under a training before dinner, haha! It is all fine!" Her eyes averted for a moment, and she cleared her throat, setting down her empty bowl.[break][break]

"Don't worry about hogging my time though. If I'm busy, I will tell. I see your adventures sometimes, and I can't help but feel excited about them... A little spooked too, but that's part of the fun, right?" She smiled slightly, silverlining the scary aspect of the activity. "Together, I'm sure no ghost will stop us! I don't want to see you being spirited away either."[break][break]

Thea's face flared up when the man echoed her reveal. "Y-Yeaaah." It didn't stop her from confirming it, even if her eyes couldn't met the man's, certain that he thought she was ridiculous right now. She cleared her throat, rubbing her nape with eyes still averted until he mentioned helping him out.[break][break]

"Oh, I mean! Of course, anything you need, Mr. Caleb!" She grinned. He had helped her, after all, she couldn't reject helping him out.[break][break]

"So there has been some Pokémons causing havoc... Hmmm..." Thea rubbed her chin. "I can totally help out, it would be bad if someone was passing by and got attacked by them. I was completely unaware of it myself—" Thea shuddered at the thought of those Poison Pokémons showing up exactly when she was fainted.[break][break]

Which was when something clicked in her mind. "Wait, are you a ranger or something?" Unless he was some sort of odd-jobber, or someone particularly altruistic, she couldn't think of another reason for him to aim to clear the area.[break][break]

Thea's chest felt tight at Eris' words. He was her home? Did it mean she only had him, or something similar? Fate was sure cruel to put these two in such a predicament. By the way she spoke of him, and the way he cared for her, for a tragedy to happen was just a matter of a misstep. One of them angering the evil guys, and it could trigger a situation they would go way too far for each other, and...[break][break]

Her eyes narrowed and closed, pushing away those thoughts.[break][break]

"It is everything. Really, thank you." Thea smiled to Eris, nodding to the little girl. It is everything the girl could do for Thea at the moment, and Thea couldn't be more grateful and happy for the girl's kindness. It was like a glimpse of hope in the middle of despair.[break][break]

Thea opened and closed her fist a few times, and resumed to work. Once again, she tried to fill the little girl's pile a bit more than the usual. "I'm sure he is proud of you, for being so nice." She said. "Having someone kind is one thing, having the heart to do the same acts of kindness is admirable." She tossed a couple shards in. The straps made it easier to work, for sure.[break][break]
