Oh, that was interesting. She had a theory that Avatars and those that had experienced space-time rifts had a different interaction with infinity energy and consequently had more control in the dream realm than others. The idea, though, that the patron itself could pick doors... why, that warranted study. [break][break]

The odds of getting him in a study again were low. [break][break]

"More real," she repeated slowly, chewing on the thought like gum. "What makes it feel real?" [break][break]

She considered his question. She knew little of him, but it would do her no favors to pretend otherwise. "I know little of him. I believe he has some sort of manipulation over space." How much of the DRK could she reasonably reference? Unfortunately, she did have minimal grasp on the Triad.

Ameena ducked underneath the attack of the Lokix. Its tackle had been fast, but Ameena's sense for danger had ticked her off before it struck. [break][break]

"Sleep him." Musharna obeyed, yawning at the bug. Her sleep-inducing prowess was unmatched among her pokemon. The Lokix prepared another strike but succumbed to the sleepiness it felt. It fell on its face, making it an easy target. "Nice work, Munna."

What did it mean to pity Cresselia? [break][break]

Could it be Cresselia was trapped between two realms? Her apathy could be a result of Her own position being stuck outside the dream realm, that She felt fractured Herself. Why else would one pity Cresselia? Could they know She had a bigger part to play? Ameena couldn't imagine. If everyone 'outside' - DRK and Megalopolan - thought their world was wrong, could Cresselia be related to that? [break][break]

Her mind spun with the possibilities. [break][break]

But standing around would not reveal any answers. She knew in her heart that her choice was made for her, here. "I am in," she answered. "I cannot miss such an opportunity. Whatever the cost, we will claim Her."

Lulu's recall of the last mission there reminded Ameena of the vital fact that gods were all dangerous. She couldn't forget that, as easy as it was to apply a docile nature to anything overseeing dreams. Cresselia had the capacity to be violent just as much as She had one to be sleepy or sedated. [break][break]

"Cresselia knows about the instability?" [break][break]

It shouldn't be surprising given that it's Her domain. Still, the apathy was hard to believe. She was stunned at the prospect that Cresselia didn't care about the fracturing of the dream realm. [break][break]

She gathered herself once Lulu shared her assertion. "We will take it by force," Ameena confirmed, "if we have to. There is too much on the line to lose this fight. As the world grows more unsteady, we need more avenues." To explore, to experiment, to escape.[break][break]

That was it, wasn't it? That she wanted a life boat. If she could not fully complete her research in this world, let her find another. She could not let this victory slip through her fingers. "If you have any combat data on Cresselia, it will be worth review. I have been strengthening my pokemon to prepare for the war; I will be ready to face Her down if... when, things turn ugly."

Cresselia was a hell of a pitch. She knew Amor had left Nebula in howard slayte's hands, so he was the man to harass for space travel and related missions. At least, that team was the one she trusted with the task. "Last I heard, Cresselia was staying on the moon. Are you planning an excursion?" Space travel should have sounded more out-there, more crazy. But so should everything, really. [break][break]

She watched Lunatone rise. She considered confessing her latest sin, that of the sleep study, but she wasn't ready to voice it. At the very least, she needed to talk to Cillian before confiding in his sister; she owed him that much, for the invasion of his mind. Her Porygon knew to share the information with Lulu if she ever sought it - which she might, if Ameena died at the hands of any of the admins who'd been indoctrinated in the study - and Tempest already owned a copy of it. [break][break]

If nothing else, she hoped it would teach them something. She was still trying to repair the data. [break][break]

"I have never been in the company of a god." Ameena had little frame of reference for Avatarship or even for being in audience of a deity. "Do you think Cresselia would be a guide or a teacher?" To give away something so precious so freely... she didn't think it possible. She figured they would have to tear the secret to the dream realm from the god - a bloody, terrible affair.

She wondered if he was lying about not having a theory. She was, however, in no place whatsoever to accuse nor pry. "Very well. You are welcome to all of it," she said as Porygon finished transferring the zip file to Tempest's device. "I will take your advice about not approaching the others alone."[break][break]

It would be difficult to approach them at all without a solution. "Whenever you are available, Musharna and I can run you through a semi-conscious dream experience to see if we can find the source of your mind's upset. A solution to your problem - and that that everyone else is likely suffering - will make it easier to mend things." For as much as she valued her own hide, she did feel particularly guilty for harming Tempest and Cillian in particular, who had been nothing but helpful to her to date. [break][break]

And taking them away from the scientific community seemed especially cruel, but it wasn't a thought worth articulating aloud. "Your memory and quality of sleep should improve once we've re-examined the dream. My current theory is that, if the study followed its original trajectory, you've forgotten something... and we just need to restore the memory." The study had been designed to see how once psyche could influence another; additionally, when given a choice, the study would see how frequently people chose to forgo their current reality, and how many wanted to hold onto it. Indeed, it had claimed many. She wondered if she could find enough people for a study on the impact of the Galar Memory... [break][break]

It may help me find ways to choose dreams." Invaluable, if her theory about the multiverse was true. [break][break]

The deity came in close to strike. Gardevoir mega evolved and launched psychic to push it back.

As stupid as the entire concert idea was, she had to admit she was having fun. [break][break]

She was glad to see Kasper getting involved with Rocket projects after their chat forever ago in HQ. Rhea had been her knight in shining armor when Combees attacked. Fenelle was a newer face to Ameena, but der energy was inspiring. It was fun. [break][break]

And at least she felt productive while knocking against the cowbell rhythmically. Their propaganda was working. The sponsorship display would sow seeds of distrust in the organization if Rocket lost the propaganda war, and it would put League in a difficult spot if Rocket didn't lose the propaganda war - because why would the League support organizations that funded Rocket? [break][break]

A win-win. So she turned around on stage and revealed the verbage on the back of her shirt that would be for sale after the concert, merch for any of the viewers to indulge in.

What a fascinating question. This was the value of putting someone outside of your field in a situation to understand your work.[break][break]

"If the infinite multiverse theory is true, no. Those doors are a result of every branching decision you have ever made. However, the doors that appear to you, I believe to be a response to your subconscious. I think we can gain the ability to manifest a door - an exact alternate reality - and enter it. It went without saying that it might never happen, that it may not happen in her lifetime, that the theory is completely wrong in its entirety. The path sprawled ahead. She had little interest in the wildlife that fluttered across the area. Pyre had more activity than it should have. It's as if he knows how desperate she actually is to hear from her prior subject, the way he teases information. But she enjoys the chase. [break][break]

She leans back in her chair. "It is a rare condition. Everyone dreams, but few remember it upon waking. I am unable to forget. I recall a dream every night, and they vary, though I tend to revisit the same handful of scenarios." She exhales slowly. "I would label none of them as bad, even those that haunt my waking hours, because I theorize that each dream is a pocket dimension in the dream realm." Hell, why not indoctrinate him into the whole theory. What has she to lose? Perhaps, if his subconscious chews on her theory, he will get closer to experiencing it than she has because of his unusual proximity to the divine. [break][break]

"If the dream realm is a house, each pocket dimension can be accessed through a door. When you sleep, your mind walks you down those endless hallways and picks a door, and your dream is you accessing your conscious in another world. I posit that it is possible to intentionally walk through this house and choose a door to step through." Far-fetched, maybe. But in a world of gods, monsters, and time-space rifts, how far is far-fetched? Is it ever out of reach? [break][break]

The girl's tantrum only amused Ameena and Gardevoir both. "This is how things were meant to be. Victors, and losers." Yuina's little captain was caught on fire, but before Ameena and Gardevoir could savor it, the two were launched into a time-space distortion. [break][break]

Gardevoir's rage grew ten sizes as they were surrounded with an unfamiliar land. Clearly, they were not where they were previously. Perhaps, they were, and only the year had changed. It was hard to tell with these rifts, and with not one but TWO space-defying gods on the battlefield, Ameena could rule out nothing about the time-space distortion. Iron Treads charged at her, and Gardevoir violently flung them backwards, nearly growling with her feral fury. [break][break]

"We can get back," Ameena said breathlessly, and the two turned to see where the rift lie across the sky above them. Gardevoir clutched Ameena unkindly and flew up, up - [break][break]

The battlefield was the same, barring the sea level that had risen considerably. And that Ameena was in a slightly different position. And, scouring the area, it was clear that ollie morales was healed. [break][break]

Gardevoir's anger reached a fever pitch. Unfortunately, Yuina's savior was behind a shield now with some other kids, facing Necrozma and a Celesteela, but the girl? She was fair game. Ameena knew the shield would break eventually, so she easily turned focus on Yuina. Gardevoir launched mystical fire at Yuina.
