bootcamp [m/open]

miss insurance agent continues her role to be the eyes on the ground by her international company. while she wasn't expected to make business, she still was responsible to assess situations as they rise.

one of such situations presents itself to her as she finds a flyer for a nearby bootcamp for interested trainers.

she isn't much of a trainer herself, but as long as she's living in the region, she's willing to make herself familiar with the affairs of hoenn. that meant figuring out how things work.

nervous, she approaches the crowd. a hand taps the shoulder of the next individual partaking in the event.

"um, do you know what's happening?" she asks.

she doesn't kmow what to do now, but she knows she can't leave her alone. area zero was a dangerous place, and she heard these strange pokemon will kill on sight.

"i'm so sorry for this!"

she grabs her feet and drags her across the ground to get her out of the underground cavern housing the lake. maybe they can get help once they're out of here.

she stutters as she watches one in front of her. she's been told that it's dangerous, and she's not going to take chances.

"paradox pokemon!"

she grabs her vaporeon and uses it as a shield against the iron bundle, only for it to freeze-dry the pokemon immediately, rendering it useless in a fight in one hit.

"eek!"

marina lobs her frozen vaporeon at it, mustering strength in times of need. it hits the pokemon off of mitsuru, after which marina recalls her pokemon back to its ball in a panic.

"um, um, um..."

the vaporeon goes into action before marina can verbalize the command. it spouts a torrent of water from its mouth, killing the flames before they spread to the entire area.

marina sighs of relief after they finish the job.

"so, um, do we catch it, or do we just leave it there?" she isn't sure of the protocol around hoenn, so she'll just follow the lead.

uriah's pokemon mega evolves, causing marina to gasp in amazement.

"wow! your pokemon's so strong!"

she gets more excited when the machamp wrestles the gouging fire like a dog owner forcing their pet's mouth to open so they can take whatever it was in their mouth.

before she gets distracted, she orders her pokemon.

"aurora beam!"

the vaporeon aurora beams the dragon-type on the face, though it still wasn't super effective since it's still a fire-type.

"go, muddy water!"

with the machamp holding the paradox pokemon down, the vaporeon manages to get as much water as it can and crash a wave of it towards the gouging fire.

it didn't seem to react much to it though.

"i-i thought it was a fire-type!" she says, astonished. "why isn't it super effective?"

paradox pokemon were a different breed, but even if they weren't, the dragon-typing helps it when dealing with marina's pokemon.

"oh, um."

she turns to her vaporeon, who matches her gaze. it covers itself up with aqua ring before it mews straight back, as if telling its trainer that she got it.

"we're ready!"

with a water-type around, she's ready to face any fire-type pokemon that could have made the fire that caused the smoke. she has her aqua ring up too, so marina was confident that she and her vaporeon won't be deadweight.

"oh, um, hehe..."

she hides her camera discretely to her pockets.

"i just didn't move when that flash went off." she was more startled than anything, and not moving was her default response. "i probably should have though, just in case that was from one of those paradox pokemon i heard."

the vaporeon, on the other hand, was obviously moving around. if it didn't trip her directly, she probably would've slipped from all the liquids that came out of it.

"do you think it could be one of them that caused it?" she asks.

due to their mostly water based biology, there’s no doubt in their mind that a vaporeon would be incredibly wet. it would make sense for someone to slip and fall when they come into contact with it.

the weak mewl similar to the sound of a puppy whose paw was accidentally stepped on pointed marina to the direction of her pokemon in her blindness. she could see the silhouette of a figure fall down as she forces her eyes open.

adjusting her sight to her surroundings was becoming a problem.

"hello?" she calls out. "are you hurt?"

hoenn was indeed a dangerous place when you can just slip and fall anywhere. she supposed she has to report to her superiors about these particular dangers for when someone asks for life insurance.

before he can say his name, they get interrupted by the unown. the situation grows more dire as they stay longer, and without much confidence in their ability to fend the unown off, the safe play gets more appealing.

"let's go!" she repeats in a singsong voice.

the moment that opportunity shows itself, they get out of their spot and immediately book it to where they think they'll be safer.

she extends her hand to accept the invitation.

"i just split up with someone over that direction." she points away from where the unown were. "we can get them to bring us back to the safe places if you're worried of more of them showing up."

marina takes one glance at the wall, and then to the other way. it was still too early to get out of their hiding spot, but it doesn't seem like they were at immediate danger.

"i think i will though, hehe. can't be too safe around here. how about you?"

mila brings her to hide behind crystals. probably a good call since she heard the big ones took a lot of heat before they crumble.

"nope!" she answers her question. "you can call me marina."

she wasn't what someone would call one of the best trainers either. she had only started trying the trainer thing out of necessity, but it doesn't mean she was good at it.

"i suppose we're stuck here, hehe." there's gloom in her optimistic voice. "i just relied on good samaritans to get this far in area zero. did you do the same too?"

there were precautions that the league gave out to people wanting to enter the area. she went in, thinking that it was like any other wild pokemon area. perhaps she was spoiled by the people she met on her way to the depths of area zero.

she whips her head to the direction she pointed at and sees small, floating creatures.

"oh, they're so cute. wh-"

an attack almost grazed her had it not been for her maractus' defense.

"oh, no. this is bad."

she gets up and gets off of her maractus, helping mila back to her feet while her maractus tries to defend against the next couple of barrages. a spiky shield gets set up, but even its defense doesn't stand against the unown.

it only stood long enough for them to stand.

"w-w-wait, i thought hoenn trainer's are strong," she asks. "if you're running, does that mean..."
