Michael Davis felt a weight of uncertainty resting upon his shoulders. Regarding the cloned Pokemon, he didn't know how to feel. On one hand, he saw them as beings that deserved life. They never asked to be created, to have their purpose predetermined for them. It was also sweet in a strange sort of way, knowing the Megalopolans sought companionship and connection, even if they were destined to be soldiers.

"That's..." Michael's words became lodged in his throat. He struggled to express his feelings without appearing condescending.

"That's actually beautiful," he finally stated, "but it's...There's a better way to get Pokemon."

For a moment, the Ranger's eyes locked with Eimyrja's, the two partners staring longingly at each other. The two shared an unspoken agreement on the matter.

"I believe, at least, that finding a Pokemon to join you on your journey is an irreplaceable, incredible feeling. To ask them to trust you, to have them wish you to guide them and help them grow...That's what's truly beautiful about Pokemon. Whether you capture them or recruit them, they form bonds with their humans. Well, normally speaking..."

The Megalopolan Vessel quaked and trembled due to the arrival of the Wardens. Aside from being massive compared to before, each sported a crystalized mask on their visages.

Michael Davis and Eimyrja both found themselves in awe of the giant Wardens. This would be the second time Michael had witnessed the Dynamaxing phenomena. A tidal wave of memories flooded into Michael's head, helping him recall the battle between the giant Venasaur.

The Charmander at Michael's side bared her fangs in defiance of the Loyal Three. They were a threat to the safety of her Ranger partner and everyone on board the ship. During that moment, the bond she shared with her human evoked distressing memories and overwhelming emotions. There was an instant where she saw herself in that prison, living through her human's experiences. Then came the most profound, most devastating vision; Through Michael's eyes, she saw her own supposed death, watching helplessly as the hammer smashed her Pokeball to pieces. The anguish, the anger, the disbelief...It was too much.

The flame on the Charmander's tail intensified with power as the Fire-Type became emblazoned with the shared hurt. The fire then spread, covering Eimyrja as Michael watched with intrigue and worry. Her body was now engulfed, and she bellowed a battle cry that echoed to the prison above.

Michael shielded his eyes by bracing his arms against the intensifying heat of the inferno. Peeking through, he could not tear his eyes away.

"Eimyrja," he whispered.

Stray Mochi collided at the ground near Michael and Eimyrja, bursting into clouds of poison. The Ranger quickly covered his mouth and nose with the fabric of his shirt. He prayed it would be enough to protect his respiratory system. He wasn't certain if Eimyrja's fire aura would protect her.

The Charmander's silhouette shifted and grew, the form's true identity hidden behind the blaze. The fire dispersed, revealing a Charmeleon in the fire's wake.

"Eimyrja!" Michael shouted, lowering his arms and finding his jaw on the floor. "You...You evolved! That's amazing!"

"Char!" Eimyrja responded, glancing back to give a confident nod. Everything was going to be okay.

The enraged Megalopolan shouted his distaste and despair in annoyance at the former prisoners earning their freedom. Michael saw it fit to respond.

"We shed our chains because we refused to give up!" Michael barked at the supposed Ringleader of the Loyal Three. "You thought you could break us, bury us underneath a mountain of despair and hatred. No more!"

Michael watched as the others set their targets. Everyone had to work together, just as they did through each tumultuous day they worked in their chains. He knew who he would help defeat with his newly evolved Pokemon. The Ranger Cadet currently banked on the artificial Sunlight and the hope that its power would help his Charmeleon.

"Eimyrja! Let's target that muscle head! Unleash your SOLAR BEAM!"

Charmeleon's maw opened, charging an intense beam of solar energy within it. A radiant light shimmered from its source, threatening to blind all who dared to look directly at it. Its power peaking, Eimyrja released the energy beam right at Okidogi's barrier!

"Through a rift?" Michael asked, scratching his cheek in thought. "I heard rumors of that happening, never experienced it myself."

A wide grin spread across the Cadet's face like a new sunrise in the morning. Hearing Axel's agreement with his plot helped him feel joy and excitement. Already Michael's emotions were overflowing as the pair set the plan in motion.

"Okay, great!" he beamed. "Would you prefer to be the Ranger for this scenario, or the Poacher? I'm fine with either, and we can even ham up our roles a bit to set that Wow Factor. I think it's important, too, that the Ranger in the scenario be the victor. And we can also take time to present and answer questions for the group."

With explosions and eruptions thundering around the Feeding Pit, pieces of rubble and debris fell like hail on a stormy day. An inanimate maw forms via a hole in the Pit's floor. Michael narrowly escaped the pull of gravity as pieces of stone crumbled beneath his feet. Though distracted by the sudden escape route, he failed to avoid a large piece of stone that fell from the sky above.

A heavy crack splits Michael's mask apart as a rogue piece of debris smacks against his forehead. The blunt force trauma alone knocks the Ranger Cadet unconscious. His limp body falls from the ledge of the hole, succumbing to his injuries and submerging into the dark expanse below. Droplets of blood also fall with him, dripping from the wound he wears as a crown.

If left unassisted, Michael's body crashes against the cold floor of the Breeding Pit. The heavy impact further harms his contused ribs and leaves his arms embedded with scrapes. The pain is enough to pull his consciousness from the claws of slumber. Slowly waking, he struggled to get up, head pounding from the concussion. His newfound sight, unimpeded by the mask that suffocated him for so long, was greeted by his Pokemon team; Cobalt the Seadra, Dusty the Dustox, Jaws the Carvahna.

The Cadet's vision blurred from the tears that now streamed down his face. There was a deeper tug of joy and relief, however, when his eyes laid on a particular Charmander.

"Eimyrja, everyone...You're okay."

Convulsions overcame his chest as quiet sobs echoed in the Breeding Pit. Tears of joy streamed forth, unbound. Michael opened his arms, and every one of his Pokemon tackled him, each emitting cries of both joy and sadness in this incredible reunion. The overwhelming emotions were almost enough to dull his pain.

"I missed you so much!" he cried, unable to stop the tears now. "I didn't want to believe I lost you. I stayed strong, for all of you. I'm so happy that you're all okay! Eimyrja, I'm so glad that you're alive...I almost believed that I got you killed!"

The feelings began to dull, now. Michael took this moment to observe his surroundings. There appeared to be clones in the tubes filled with emerald liquid. He could only wonder what their purpose was. Even if they were a product of the Megalopolans, they were still innocent and deserved a chance. He harbored no feelings of ill will toward the unborn clones.

Michael collected himself. Most ofhis injuries healed, save for a massive headache, and the effects of poison no longer afflicting him, he and others explored a separate room in which Megalopolan adults and children cowered.

"Guys," he spoke to those who would listen, "Whatever the Wardens and guards did to us, I don't believe it's their fault. They're being controlled by the Toxic Chains. These Megalopolans don't have Toxic Chains. I believe they're innocent in all of this. We need to help them."

Spying his clothes and gear, the Ranger housed all of his Pokemon, save for Eimyrja, in their Pokeballs for safety. Michael then swiftly changed into his Ranger outfit; a symbol of his personal freedom and his ideals as a person. Like a phoenix, he rose from the chains of imprisonment.

The commotion above reminded Michael that this was all far from over.

"Eimyrja?"

"Char?"

"Let's get ready. I won't let you be in danger again. We've got this."

Even if Michael's assault remained ineffective, he was glad to see that his aura of fire protected those around him. And, as the platform began its descent into the pits of Hell, the fires of Hope inside of the Cadet only grew higher. There was no telling what could be accomplished with everyone working toward one common goal. If only the world could come together like this on a grand scale.

Now, in the dreaded Feeding Pit, the affliction made its presence known by a burning sensation that crept up Michael's arms. The color of his hands and arms slowly shifted into a wretched fuchsia hue. Bile and half-digested mochi tainted his mouth with the taste of peaches and vomit. The Cadet relented, allowing his body to do its best to expel the poison. His stomach twitched and writhed in agony. It was apparent that this power had its drawbacks, and was to be used sparingly.

Some sought to take the Ogrepon head-on. Others targeted the sprinklers themselves. This made Michael wonder if success would cause water to douse the flames when unhindered. Michael recalled, though, that the showers would always activate when the bowl in the Pit's center had been filled.

"I'll be right with you!" he replied to Josh Devlin. "I have to try to get that bowl filled first! These fires need to be put out!"

Even as Michael's vision grew hazy and his body grew weary, the Cadet Ranger charged forth. Seeking to grab every piece of Mochi before tossing them into the center bowl of the Feeding Pit. Among the chaos, the task would be daunting, but not impossible.

Michael endured what only felt like an eternity in this forsaken prison of the Enthralled Megalopolans. During his imprisonment, different aspects of the Ranger Cadet weakened. Physically, he was beaten and bruised by Okidogi and the creature, respectively. Despite the hinderances, despite the mental, physical, and emotional daggers trying to chip away at his psyche, Michael continued on. Despite being branded a weakling, he marched ever forward, counting the minutes for retribution.

FRIENDS... BELOW... LAKE
IMAGINE... POWER... FREE ME...
GO... TOGETHER...

These words lingered, resonating in Michael's head on loop as he awoke. He, and the rest of the prisoners, would make it to the bottom of the Prison. They had to. They must!

The sounds of liberation echoed. This was the signal to break free and escape this Hell. This very sound stirred the fires of Michael's soul, turning embers into a glorious blaze. His deepest desire was to help others. And now, even at his weakest, even in a time most dire, his burning passion would manifest.

The Toxic Chains attached to the Cadet's body wrapped around his arms and hands, soon erupting in an aura flames. Heat poured from Michael's body while embers danced around him like faeries of fire. And, somehow, the very flames that covered him did not burn him.

Megalopolan Guards who attempted to combat Michael would be met with emblazoned fists that may leave scorch marks on their bodies. Each blow to the enemy was personal, delivering strikes with near-bottomless torment, pain, and justice powering each one.

Seeing Joshua head off at incredible speeds, Michael sought only to head after him.

"We have to find all of our Pokemon!" he reminded, chasing after his friend, despite how impossible such a feat may be.

Then, Michael saw that his Warden, Okidogi, was in his path. Josh may have no issue slipping by, but the Ranger Cadet had other plans. He poured every ounce of his determination and willpower into a powerful haymaker aimed at the bottom of Okidogi's jaw.

"Get out of my WAY!" he roared, attempting to deliver a satisfactory blow!

Whatever the outcome, Michael would try to continue to follow Josh Devlin in their search for Swift.

As strong as Michael wished to be, as much as he held out hope that the prisoners would either escape or be rescued, even his unshakeable determination began to falter. What was seven days in this Hell felt much longer. No sun or moon helped to tell the passage of time. So, all Michael could do was etch a line in the cell wall after each time he and the others awoke to do their tasks.

He could handle the manual labor. He could take the Laughing Hour's mental torment. The collective dreaming was like a paradise to the Ranger in its own twisted way. What Michael despised the most was the Cleanup Duty in the bowels of the Gaol.

Michael struggled to remain strong, mentally and physically. Trying to avoid the masked Pokemon that battered all in its wake was no easy feat. So, the Ranger did his best, and even tried to be a human shield for those not so lucky when he had the resolve to do so. If one thing kept him going, it was that image of his submerged Pokemon that remained burned in his mind.
