through the rain, a wash of gold and blue caught her eye: the beautiful wings a vivillon, touched by the river beside them. it sat under a tree, waiting for the weather to subside.[break][break]

river vivillons were the only variety she’d seen, but she knew they existed all over the world. no climate was too much. they adapted, and that resonated with her.[break][break]

she slid her bag off and reached into a pouch, pulling a poffin from it and approaching slowly, holding it out as an offering.[break][break]

a final hymn was sung as she pinned her last note behind the altar, where many others had been left by travelers unanswered. she stared for a long moment at the pristine calligraphy on delicate paper, before turning away.[break][break]

out into pouring rain, she stepped down old stairs and pulled a large hood over her head. the conditions were preferable to the blazing heat that phenomena had brought upon the region that summer.[break][break]

across a bridge over the river, a shedinja followed the temple keeper like a wraith, wings motionless as it hovered along.

for generations, my family has worshipped jirachi. in our small public temple, many songs have been sung and notes pinned up with hopes for blessings. they ask for fortune, longevity, peace, power.[break][break]

since hoenn became a place of endless destruction, the notes grew so abundant that you can no longer see the walls around the altar. several of them wish for my father to return from battle, but it’s been years since he left.[break][break]
