motion sickness was a valid concern, but not an issue for the paldean, for he has traversed across terrains unimaginable on the backs of large pokémon before, on land, sea, and air. one might say that he'd become one with the very fabric of nature that he has always intended to study. suppose these lands, perhaps dictating the existence of another plane or part of space entirely, ought to be studied as well...[break][break]

no time to hit the books, not yet...[break][break]

before either of the humans could step foot inside the massive edifice, another entity like the one they encountered previously had emerged from the castle's interior. something about this, however, felt off - as if it wasn't functional in the manner that it was intended to. the girl looked to the ranger, in search of an answer perhaps. he could hypothesize that this could've been the work of another machine? or possibly a person? he dared to step closer to the near-completely-severed volcanion-like creature...[break][break]

"i have no idea, but one thing's for sure: the damage done to this thing looks to be beyond repair...if only...huh!?" before he could get his thoughts out, the mechanized monster's functions discontinued - completely shut down. "i guess there's really no saving it now..."[break][break]

alas, there was still sights left to see.[break][break]

looking towards the castle's entrance, he called for the girl to catch up with a wave of his hand. "maybe we'll find some answers in there..."

useless...

unable to do more in this conflict in the attempt to resolve it, especially in the wake of having a whole pride of lions incapicitated in mere seconds. still, silverio and his dark knight pokémon could look only as his partner continued to battle alongside a beast of monumental proportions. with the injured cyclists in two, the paldean-born ranger turned his eyes to a direction opposite of the ongoing battle. a clearer path to safety, though some great deal of energy may need to be expended by silverio himself.

a quick glance over at josh once again..."just...be careful, alright?" he would not wait for a response, nor was their any time to do so. instead, he and his ceruledge would direct the ailing folks way from the chaos - hell, they'd resort to lugging them on their shoulders if need be. "you heard the man, we've gotta move!"

and move, they would. their mobility hindered by the added weight, but even so, it's better that than to risk being roasted by a chicken - how ironic would that be...

going forward, the ranger would do well to avoid making any sort of remark that may be interpreted as sinful, in regards to the beliefs of others. otherwise, perhaps this critically acclaimed 'almighty sinnoh' may not waste any of its precious time in passing sound judgment upon the paldean for such carelessness.[break][break]

his partner didn't take long in following suit of him across the skyline, a chance for them to take in the sights around them, including..."a train...?" in paldea, such forms of transportation were a thing of mysteries; he had only ever read about them in various textbooks and other old and tarnished documents. "...looks like it runs on steam...cool..."[break][break]

alas, their sightseeing session would be cut short.[break][break]

after quickly disconnecting himself from the line, his eyes peered upward from the castle's base, mesmerized by its height in search of its apex. "hope we'll find something in there, anything really." looking back towards the pinkette, he added, "and if we're lucky, then maybe we'll get to ride that train too."

a region torn apart, in more ways than one, it seems. regardless, there was still a job to be done here. in the wake of petalburg's downfall, many folks have been rendered wondering how to go about the rest of their livelihoods under the conditions they now face, while others are left thinking on whether they should even stick around during the aftermath. no matter what their choice would be, the rangers, and possibly anyone aligning with them, are left with the inevitable tasks of relief efforts.[break][break]

silverio had heard the news, and for a long while, refused to believe them. nonetheless, today, he is designated with the task of surveying what remains of petalburg and the routes that connect it. accompanying out on the field today is his trusted quadrupedal companion. his wolf pokémon sniffs around, scouting for potential threats to them or the environment. he inadvertently tramples through piles of leaves and brittle twigs, denouncing his presence as well as his trainer's.[break][break]

upon emerging from the shadows of bushes, albeit unceremoniously, silv offers an apologetic shift in his features to an apparent wanderer and her own lycan partner, lips slanted - a visage displaying an ounce of embarrassment. "sorry, sorry. didn't mean to startle you. my buddy and i here were sent here to survey the area. we're not looking for a fight, don't worry..."[break][break]

if he were to try to gain an element of surprise, he would've already failed his mission in that sense.

just when he was starting to believe that he has seen just about all there is in hoenn to explore, if only on a pretense of a means for record-keeping, the phenomena have only begun to expand even further it seems. the latest of which telling of pokémon that shine a radiant shade of a quality golden hue wreaking havoc all across these lands. where they had come from is anyone's guess, but one thing was certain, and it was that in order to preserve the safety of the environment - and all of the pokémon that inhabit it - these being need to be dealt with.[break][break]

quickly...[break][break]

a matter of urgency, and thus, silverio aligns himself with his captain today with a full lineup of six pokémon at his beck and call. out on the field with him right now is his trusted canine companion, a lycanroc, sniffing around in search of a clue as to whereabouts of these mysterious golden entities. "according to recent reports, one of them was said to be lurking somewhere along this route. i strongly suggest that we proceed with utmost caution."[break][break]

the idea of battling against said creatures, if they are proven to be real anyway, would likely never come to silv's mind otherwise. "but if you're really looking to battle with one of them...then i got your back."

as the saying goes, time waits for no man.[break][break]

and it seemed that the pinkette wouldn't wait to throw an unexpected lashing out at the man who'd been tasked with accompanying her on this expedition, albeit for a split second. taken aback by this development, silverio was left breathless for but a moment, nerves stunned by the sudden outbreak. did he say something he shouldn't have? or do anything that may have triggered raw emotions just now?[break][break]

as he would quickly learn...[break][break]

he may have indeed done exactly that, and the error would come to realization as she explained her reasoning for shifting to that defensive - belief in an entity that supposedly rules over all of time itself. a tale never before told to the paldean. the seemingly mindless sentiment on the part of silverio, said to be against what keiko believed in, would be instantly erased from his short-term memory, his visage drifting.[break][break]

"i'm sorry too..."[break][break]

this place wasn't hoenn, and it damn sure wasn't paldea either. one ought to do well in order to consider the feelings of others, especially other foreigners. or perhaps, was this a hoenn of another timeline entirely? regardless, there was still an objective to be completed in this time.[break][break]

"by the way..." as he moves to examine the skyline up top, he'd force his attention back to the girl with remorse flashing in his eyes. "i meant what i said earlier - about being lucky to be here. had i not been picked to join you, then i don't think i would've ever gotten a chance to see any of this otherwise."[break][break]

definitely worth writing home about, not that his family back home was likely to believe anything he jots down in any of those letters...[break][break]

he tugged at the line, and offered a nod, deeming it to be stable enough to zip along. "looks solid, feels tight. it's worth a try, i think...i'll go first." several minutes passed as he proceeded to fasten himself onto the line. "here goes...something!"[break][break]

and away he would go...!

perhaps, if she's fortunate enough, she will have the opportunity to find out for herself. but the jokes and innuendos may need to wait a tad longer in order to continue, for if these rangers do not act quickly, they could easily become the queen bee's next meal - a fate that is surely undesirable for either of the humans. or their pokémon for that matter. there's a fine line between work and recreation. here in this scenario, silverio will need to invest all of his focus on the work that he and airi had been assigned.[break][break]

and before he could explicitly provide details about the impending threat...[break][break]

"she's..." she dares to turn her head despite his warning. why!? "...right there..." silverio holds his breath in anticipation of the queen's first move. the gargantuan insect apparently seeks to prey on the woman first, but airi manages to evade her for the moment, and now seeks refuge in silv's arms, and also behind her fox magician's barrier. instinct prompts the man intensify his grip around her small frame, a means to provide ample support - emotionally, to say the least.[break][break]

like their pokémon, he'd fight to protect her, too...[break][break]

in a flash, his infernal primate rushes over to launch an emphatic mach punch at the queen, knocking her back several feet. "you okay?" he asks his colleague, his arms holding firm around her. "let's grab what we need, then get the hell outta here."

as the saying goes, nature takes its course.[break][break]

but what course can a person drive through on their road to constructing a better life for oneself? in any case, would it be a straight line? will there be any detours leading the travelers astray? most likely, and from the ways in which the region are developing...actually, no! degrading! like a flesh-eating bacteria gnawing away from the inside. hoenn becomes that much closer to an abominable future - a dark time that silverio wishes he doesn't get to see. or at least, not too soon.[break][break]

however...[break][break]

in addition to the ongoing natural disaster plaguing the region, there are other mysterious parts that were unbeknownst to the paldean previously...eerie rifts serving as gateways to worlds of seemingly endless possibilities. needless to say that there appears to be no shortages of them. but several questions ring in the proverbial bell tower in the ranger's mind: what is their purpose? what makes them? what stories are they designed to tell? no progress made in obtaining answers to such curious inquiries.[break][break]

and that's why...[break][break]

silverio finds himself here, in a place where stories are said to begin and end for those daring enough to face the trials of hoenn's elite. but the paldean is not here to battle, no. rather, he deigns to step foot into one of the league's esteemed laboratories, on appointment with their leading professor - a woman of integrity, fortitude, and keen intellect. one whom the man had only met recently.[break][break]

"it's lovely to see you again, miss reyes..."[break][break]

he greets her with a small smile forming, formality upheld, for now at least. "i appreciate you taking time out of your day to meet with me. i imagine that you must be painfully busy, so i'll cut to the chase: i came here in the hope of gaining answers to questions that i don't believe anyone else can answer..."

six years!?? GYAATT!!!

bless you for managing to stay in the game for that long!! i'm only going on two months here myself, but i can confidently say that i've genuinely enjoyed every second of it! this is the largest rp community that i've ever been a part of, by far. and to be perfectly honest, i was itchingly overwhelmed when i first walked in. and while i still am a bit nervous even now, everyone here has made me feel right at home! thank you shiv, and everyone else, for all that you do!! and thank you all for putting up with a scrub like me LOL!!!
