he could say that his past exploits in his homeland were always something akin to a fiesta on a grand scale. this atmosphere, on the other hand, is something completely new to him. if the idea of ghosts in charge of showing hospitality wasn't enough to drill some concern into the mind of the paldean, then who on this disaster-prone planet knows what would be. on a brigther end of the spectrum, an opportunity to mingle with arceus-knows-who presents itself, albeit in a vividly unorthodox manner. nonetheless, silverio takes this chance as a means to relieve himself of his environmental studies.[break][break]

if only for a fortnight...[break][break]

"what the...?" activity conducted all around him, and painfully, he isn't entirely certain as to what to make of it all. his visage, veiled by a mask monotoned with his formal attire for the evening, turns its attention to...never mind, suppose that the old saying of 'three's company' could be dreadfully inaccurate in this scenario. come to think of it, one is more than enough - that being silverio himself. he grasps a half-filled glass of wine from a fleeting haunter (or half-empty depending on one's perspective), and quietly sips, allowing the calm before an inevitable storm of the liquid to settle into his veins.[break][break]

he takes in the sights, a subtle reminder of home blooming in his mind. however, it's doubtful that any 'musica de salsa' would be played here; perhaps now's a better time than any to pickup a few new steps on the dance floor...[break][break]

the opposing canine takes a hit, but the lycanroc has now drawn its attention away from the galarian royal and her companion. the golden boltund now seeks to sink its teeth into the wolf pokémon and instill chills into his veins. the lycanroc vying to steer himself away from the vile beast, but yet somehow, despite the wolf's enhanced speed, the boltund manages to stay on pace with him. "how...?" with no clear answer in sight, silverio fumbles in attempts to devise a countermeasure against the oncoming ice attack.[break][break]

an assist from elise's trevenant presents an opening as silv turns to his captain, offers a quick nod in succession then proceeds to continue direct traffic for his own canine partner. "stone edge! make it a little extra sharp!" almost instantly, in tandem with his trainer's words, the wolf shoots forward. outstretched paws unveiling claws as sharp as a mountain's pointed and craggy peaks to strike down the rampaging 'noble' entity. should that not be enough to immobilize it...[break][break]

then how much more of an effort would be required...!?

are they not comprehending the severity of the situation at hand? are they insisting on stepping into the crosshairs within the lines of fire? simultaneously, the same can be said about silverio; never before had he envisioned himself in this sort of scenario, diving headfirst twenty-thousand leagues into a sea of chaos and destruction. the experiences gained during his esteemed "treasure hunt" in paldea (which, to this day, may have never truly concluded) pale in comparison to the blood, sweat, and tears being invested into salvaging the terrain that is now threatened by who-knows-what.[break][break]

regardless, silv seeks to make amends for past failures in some objectives, as well as for past complications with some of his superiors. in retrospect, if two wrongs don't make a right, then what could two rights make - those rights being, one, the defense of the routes connecting to the towns under duress, and two, the expulsion of the threats looking to establish their place in what can only be described as a nationwide warzone. all of the people he's met here in hoenn, and all of the pokémon that inhabit it...their livelihood are at stake, and the paldea-born ranger could not afford to lose any of them...[break][break]

or rather, any more of them...memories of what he once had return to haunt him...[break][break]

but with light pats on his cheeks, he shakes off those memories for the moment. right now, he aims to lock in on the matter at hand, that being this mysterious being before him and the entity summoned by them, it's emphatic roar rendering his hair a tad disheveled. "one of those, huh...?" a creature said to had been lost to time, one bearing a striking resemblance to a pokémon that was often told about in legends. he motions for his gliscor to sail towards him so that he address it properly. "go on out and alert the others; we may have a hostile situation on our hands..." with that, the fang scorp pokémon takes flight.[break][break]

he returns his gaze to the masked stranger, a visage the reeks seriousness. "i dunno who you are, or what you're after here, but if you're looking to sabotage this land, as well as all of the people and pokémon that inhabit it..." in his hand, a great ball is held. a ball donning a radiant azure hue similar to his eyes and tabs akin to streaks of crimson fire adorning it.[break][break]

a backhanded toss and the ball opens, revealing a heinous form - a nidoking sporting unnaturally blue skin that shined, challenging the opposing monstrosity with a proud roar in return. the beast stares down the opposition, similarly to how silverio has view many adversities and has tackled them head-on. and yet, another trial awaits...[break][break]

"then i'll advise you to look elsewhere; whatever your plan is here, i will not allow it to come to fruition."[break][break]

practice makes perfect, after all. however, perfection cannot be rushed. with that in mind, the baby eevee will happily accept any form of praise he can get, even if it's not from his acclaimed human at this very moment. in any case, downtime with a potentially new companion is worth investing the time to fool around in this establishment. perhaps all the spunk in the eevee's genes can be deciphered as a reason that very few other pokémon would indulge in entertaining him - suppose that most of them couldn't keep with his seemingly boundless energy.[break][break]

the fluff nods along to the mawile's story, excitement evident in the flowing of his tail to and fro. "if you ask me, i'd say that it sounds like your 'princess' really does like you a lot, and that she's trying her hardest in caring for you. but i also think that hiding the truth about your discomfort isn't really a good look for you." if there's anything that the eevee has learned from his trainer thus far, its to express oneself in a manner you're most comfortable with.[break][break]

"for example, whenever my tummy feels like it's been turned upside-down, my human gives me something cool to drink, then gives me big and soft belly rubs! i can't really explain how that works, but that always seems to do the trick for me!" beady eyes turn their attention to the other 'mouth' of the fairy-steel pokémon. "whoa man, that's pretty cool! does that mean you could eat twice as much as anyone and not feel full? or...?"

a tainted memory of his experience in sea mauville. all he wanted to do there was to help anyone and anything that was found to be under duress, and at the same time, learn more about the environment that is being endangered evermore as he speaks. one of the more bitter memories, rather. he can vividly recall the words that stood out to him the most. '...watch out for youself, too...'[break][break]

even now, those words continue to ring like a gong in his head, perhaps enough to potentially trigger a migraine. despite tides of war flooding over his conscience, he contemplates as to what could say or do to alleviate the pressure of now having to answer to the report he had given regarding his progress during his expeditions at the aforementioned venue.[break][break]

suppose that only the truth of what he saw, of what he had experienced is the only choice in this matter. as he claims a seat across from the captain, he scans the material in front of him. he can recall the words that are scribed here, for it was the paldea-born ranger himself who had written them. how much does he remember?[break][break]

"all of it, as if had happened yesterday. i was paired up with one of the volunteers to investigate an edifice on the verge of sinking, searching for hints of intel. kyle lopez , was his name. together, the two of us managed to rescue a scientist surrounded by a horde of toxapex, inside the building."[break][break]

is this enough information to go on, as if the report wasn't any indication; contrary to the captain's words, silverio and kyle were successful in their operation because they watched out for others...

the skies directly above him instantly overcast, and droplets begin to fall suddenly. rain!? silverio could not recall any mentions of showers in the weather forecast for today? but just as he begins to ponder if some meteorologist may have been off their rocker today, a bulky bird with a massive beak comes swooping down on he and his luxray.[break][break]

perhaps it's hungry, in search of some grub. pelipper intensely looks to the duo with wide, bland eyes. sadly, the man does not possess anything to spare it. "guess it's time to go fishing, pal." he suggests, to which the gleamy-eyed feline huffs in an exasperated tone, feigning reluctance. do pelipper like fish? naturally...eh, worth a shot.[break][break]

neither of them anticipated a 'plus one' on this expedition today, but...suppose the bird may prove useful during times of where high heat could pose a threat, right?

perhaps any other pokémon making that jump would've had a far easier time that the eevee did. nonetheless, he made it in one piece and that's what counts. what's more was that the silly little fluff ball now has some company as he eagerly awaits the return of his trainer from his routine run and carrying out his duties. unexpectedly, the mawile offers praise in the form of a headpat - something that silverio would sometimes do as well as a show of affection. needless to say it excites the eevee, his bushy tail erratically swaying.[break][break]

"thanks buddy, i've been practicing quite a lot!" and apparently, it shows. although this daring doesn't seem to stray too far from the concerns that allegedly plagued the steel-fairy pokémon. the question renders the eevee's mouth agape for a moment. in a strange yet comprehensible way, the fluffy guy can relate to the (literally) internal struggle, with some of that being his own fault, admittedly. as he would state...[break][break]

"stomach issues, oh boy, have i! sure have, mainly when i eat stuff that i shouldn't while my human's not looking, hehe...he helps take care of me when that happens, but then gives me an earful right after i start feeling better. hahaha...are you having the same problem?"
