Sick during Sootopolis, Clover missed a prime opportunity to prove themselves. Now, the little Rocket scoured the paths from Petalburg for signs of League interference like radios or traps. He remembered to mask up. It was custom, pokemon-like but not specific enough to be identifiable, much as they did not want to be identified. It reminded them of Cubone, an orphaned pokemon. Operating as a Rocket, Clover worked outside of their family, functionally like an orphan. [break][break]
He had also taken the care to leave his usual pokemon at home in case they helped identify him, though he had few public appearances under his belt as a newer Rocket member. He fastballed a net pokeball skyward to release Shuckle to help them detect traps. The rock pokemon was purchased from the Black Market and had served them pretty well so far, despite being an unusual teammate. Few trainers seemed to wield a Shuckle, but it had grown on them lately. [break][break]
Shuckle made them feel less alone. "This spot looks recently-disturbed," Clover commented as he and Shuckle looked over at the path-adjacent grass to inspect closer. Shuckle substituted for their family during these long missions; Clover had to operate alone under Rocket for their family and sect did not respect the organization. But Clover did this for Hoenn. The League slowly poisoned the land and prohibited the environmental Guardians from appearing, so Clover would use Rocket's resources to stir them awake and force their hand in saving the region from human conflict. His path was one of isolation, but he chose it.[break][break]
