OK, they underestimated the first one. [break][break]

The second one, however, was even smaller. How much lower should she go before she ended up making the same mistake as before. They considered looking at someone else's scribbled guess, but it wouldn't tell them much at all if the other person was wrong. No, it was better to estimate on their own. Well, they'd just subtract 100 from their prior guess and see where that got them.

He marches with unearned confidence through the house, choosing to go left from the landing instead of immediately up the stairs or to the room on the right. It's a living room, with a fireplace and an ugly green couch. The walls are overwhelmed by framed photographs, albums, and multi-media art. [break][break]

"These people were weird," Clover immediately judges. There's almost no negative space on the room's walls, but there's barely any furniture on the floor. It's a little unsettling. [break][break]

They pause at a photograph of someone listening to music with a walkman. "They had a super ugly phone?"

For a moment, Clover things der looking at the Spinarak suspiciously. "We just scared the little guy, that's all. We're in his space." They're always ready to defend a little bug, given how widely unliked they are, and how much Clover cares for ecosystems. But... She takes another look at the Spinarak, and maybe dee is right to give it a second look. [break][break]

The glint in its eyes is unnatural. Perhaps, supernatural. [break][break]

It lunges at Clover, who drops Spewpa instinctively. By the time it reaches him, it's become a Zorua again, and its frothing mouth is chomping the air by his neck. "AH, AH!" Panic fills them, and they're luckily able to toss the pokemon away from themselves, but they end up throwing it towards Fenelle who most certainly doesn't deserve it.

Haunted houses were a fun attraction that he rarely got to indulge, but the social media uproar about Foothill Town had created the perfect storm. Dozens of people were visiting with friends and filming videos of their experiences. The abandoned town was filled with creatures that went bump in the night. Naturally, Clover had sent a viral ghost hunting video to Cillian to see if he was interested in checking it out for himself. [break][break]

This left the two of them at the door step of a white, creaking house. Dust coated the porch, which meant none of the streamers that had visited the town so far had managed to hit this house. Clover basically bounced from foot to foot at the prospect of exploring it first. [break][break]

"Are you ready, Mr. Cillian? We're in good hands with Shuckle here." The rock pokemon had the most determined expression on its face, and slowly charged forward as Clover opened the red door for them all.

The Lugia above the apartment building might as well have been a flare with how well it signaled his destination. [break][break]

Of course, not even the legendary's presence as a portent could have prepared her for the plague doctor mask that welcomed her. She does not squeak at the sight of it, thank you very much, but she's very relieved all the same that Cillian removes it. "Very scary," she commends. "I picked something spooky, too." Her bat costume could be described as cute by anyone who didn't know how freaky Noibats (and Zubats, and related creatures) were, but she knew better. [break][break]

She steps inside, eager to see what Cillian's warning her about. The decor is a choice, but she fully believes it was not chosen by either of them. Clover scrunches their nose up at Temp's invitation to look at the ugly knickknacks, and while it's clear he is only playing around, she finds the perfect opportunity for snark - and the glint in her eye betrays it. "Well, he picked you didn't he?" They stick their nose up for snobby emphasis. "He didn't know the coolest Hoyeon was right here the whole time."[break][break]

She offers an exaggerated flourish. Then, they remember the tall tupperware in their hand. "Mom knew I was going out for a dinner tonight and made pickled roots. It's an acquired taste - acquired by the coolest of cool kids, of course - but I won't be offended if you don't like it." They would tell their mom the oddish and bellsprout dish was well-received regardless. They offer the tupperware before taking a (tentative!) seat in a paisley chair.

Clover's locked in for the chance of a ghost sighting. There's nothing cooler than ghosts, and they're eager to see how true the stories are. They made their way into the house without waiting for Fen just to scout it out, that's all... [break][break]

Unfortunately, exploring the left room immediately upon entering the house - the living room, it appears - left Clover and their Spewpa face-to-face with a particularly large Spinarak. Clover's got no aversion to insect pokemon, but Spewpa beefs immediately, and Clover has to wrangle the bug in their hands to keep her from biting the Spinarak that is only minding its business. "Knock it off!" Clover demands in a hushed whisper, not wanting to scare off the ghosts. (Can ghosts be scared off? He's not sure.)[break][break]

His mouth fell open in awe as Easter adjusted the scope. The stars came into view. Their sparkling was clear. If Clover reached out, they could almost touch the balls of light. Soaring minior graced the scope. Their falls were beautiful, though Clover didn't spend much time looking at the night sky. That needed to change. [break][break]

His amazement almost made him miss her question. It took a moment for his brain to process what she'd asked as he pulled away from the telescope to let her look. "I, um, I don't know about that." He swallowed. "I'm a land mammal, y'know?" He laughed nervously. He was careful not to meet her eyes if she was still looking up or around. "I like being on the ground. I like being connected to the earth. I don't do much flying, and uh... stuff's pretty high up there, y'know?"[break][break]

He finally looked her way. "That doesn't scare you?"

He giggled at the idea of Lam's hair being lettuce. It made sense that some pokemon would think something so bright is edible. Clover had experienced a pidgey trying to use his hair for nesting material, so it was easy to picture. [break][break]

They looked at Lam's pokemon with new awe. "Archen's my first pokemon, too." Fate had brought them together, or maybe it was just luck. His parents had always assigned an excess of luck to him, being born during a festival in town; Clover was a natural moniker for someone like them. [break][break]

Just then, one of his Oricorio took off - chasing some Tatsugiri in the water. "Ah, geez, I gotta go take care of that." He scrambled to his feet in an instant. "But let's compare birds sometime! Maybe, ah, I'll visit your gym, Mr. Lam!" The words were tossed over his shoulder as they entered a hot pursuit of their troublesome pom pom pokemon.

Dragon rush came out nowhere and threw Zarude several yards away. The assailant revealed itself and hissed at Clover. It's discontentedness was clear. Zarude used power whip to wrap around the dragon's neck and tug it to the ground. It thrashed violently, but Zarude's snarl seemed to get the message across clearly. It would not be winning this battle. The two of them fight in a bit of tug of war with the restraint until Clover lined up a shot for the pokeball.

Something devious and sly cuts across Clover's face at Lisette's question. This is the exact kind of trouble they loved getting in. "Before? A few times, but I had to sneak around to do it because my parents don't like this stuff." They open the deck up, piling the cards in their right hand. "This is the oldest looking deck I've ever seen... I bet it is charged with insane energy."[break][break]

Clover sorted the cards with her non-dominant left hand. "This is proper sorting, holding in the dominant and shuffling with the non-dominant... and then I'm gonna let you pick one card." The other two would be Clover's choice. [break][break]

"This is a basic reading: who you were, who you are, who you will be." He splayed the cards in his hands. "Tell me which of the three you want to select, then pull the card. I'll pull the other two, and we'll flip them all over together."

Clover's eyebrows skyrocketed at Miyako Noguchi 's comment. "Whoa," he echoed, looking to Howard with newfound awe. "I'm a pretty good driver if you need some tips! Mr. Hitoshi Inoue taught me." Good was being used loosely, but they could certainly drive under pressure after learning for the sole purpose of being prepared for war. [break][break]

"I wanna ticket people..." Clover said with clear envy at Miyako. Then, he remembered himself and extended a hand. "I overheard you're Miyako; I'm Clover!" [break][break]

Howard's insistence made Clover wonder if he'd had a generous amount to drink. "Okay, Dr. Mr. Howard," Clover conceded, "but I think traffic tickets will lead to your license being revoked..." There were better ways to contribute to the effort - though neither of them would actually try to benefit the League of course. "If that happens, I'll be your chauffer. Then we can go on adventures to hang out with Regieleki again." Clover turned to Miyako. "I saw it in one of those ultra space rifts myself! Have you ever been?"

"Easter," Clover repeated with wonder. What a cute name! He liked ones that reflected something larger than the - in his opinion - boring names other people bore like Alex or Zoe. "Nice to meet you. I don't normally see stargazers out in these parts." Not that Clover regularly patrolled these parts, either. [break][break]

"Yeah, well they were kind of sprouting like weeds last month... I promise, it's really nothing too crazy." They didn't want her to feel like they really owed him anything. Though, he would happily accept a glance through the telescope. He handed the Minior over to her and ducked into the scope to look, though he was completely unfamiliar with them. "How do you adjust-?" He pushed at the scope module and made things blurry. "Ah, maybe not like that..."
