The area was filled with anomalous behavior. It was similar to the ultra space areas that way, but also different, because it was firmly in their realm. Clover didn't take themselves as much of a scientist, but he did like the opportunities to learn more about the region and, consequently, the way the Protectors might interact with it. [break][break]

If Regidrago - the Fangs - was in another dimension, the tera crystals here could possibly open that line of travel. They were deeply unpredictable, that much he understood fully. [break][break]

Entranced in their journey, they didn't notice the wild pokemon until one attacked him.

No one had ever asked that. [break][break]

Clover was used to not being taken seriously. Even their Sachem had failed to think they knew anything at all about the world, and she had waved off Clover's concerns about the League's repeated damage to the environment and the region as a whole. "Um, well, as a matter of fact... The Protectors will put an end to the polluting caused by the League's industrialization and, uh, they'll institute a better order in the region since people have really, like, damaged it. I mean, those space distortions are unnatural, right?" [break][break]

They scrambled to justify their line of thinking. "Our government just makes a lot of bad decisions. They keep upsetting all of those legendary creatures, like Kyogre and Groudon." The acting pieces of Sea Sister and Earth Mother. "The Protectors can end the conflict. Their reign over the environment, like, it just makes it so people can't..." They didn't feel like their case was making a lot of sense, or that it was persuasive. But Clover had failed to believe in the League's ability to change. [break][break]

"Forget it. You can't understand it." Embarrassed, they clutched Tropius tight and whistled. Oricorio generated another hurricane to create drafts Tropius could utilize to fly away faster. "Just stay out of it!" Clover yelled over their shoulder as Tropius took off, abandoning the frenzied fish they'd upset below.

"Your pokemon moves super fast," Clover acknowledged as she got up and dusted herself off. Kit's criticism was earned, but she couldn't help but laugh kindly at it. "Where's your sense of adventure?" They threw their arms out wide to gesture to the world. [break][break]

Still, they got back to the path to dutifully return to searching for the herb. "Between the two of us, I don't think anything out here will really hurt us." Unearned confidence, the trademark of youth. [break][break]

A sweet scent filled the air. A combee came rather close, but Clover didn't flinch. She actually rather liked bugs, even though she was raised primarily around ground and rock types. The earth sect of Hoyeon was just like that, but Clover had a notable affinity for flying and bug types, and so she easily reached her hands out and let the Combee land in them. "So gentle," she praised softly. "I think it's cool that there are still some docile pokemon despite the conflict, like, causing a lot of stampedes and swarms and angry pokemon."[break][break]

The upset wildlife had made it necessary for most people to travel in pairs when they went outside.

The explanation was the information he'd sought, but Clover found himself blinking owlishly at Tempest by the time he finished describing the situation. There was a variety of issues with finding the Protectors, clearly, and none of them were in the same space. That made it harder to gather them. [break][break]

Another... dimension?" They shouldn't be so surprised after venturing Ultra Space. Still. "How do we, um, get to it?" Fangs was an interesting member of the set since it's domain was so unusual. "Maybe starting with Ore would be easier..." But she wasn't even sure she'd have Rocket's blessing to pursue any of them. She was sure she hadn't proven herself enough to get in one of those expeditions. "Are you looking for them?"

Clover had not expected any of the creatures in the safari to dance like Oricorio. However, the two of them came across a Horsea that was jumping around. "What do you make of that, eh?" Rain started to fall. Ah, a rain dance. "Dance off?" Oricorio gave Clover a disbelieving look. The bird then danced away from him and the Horsea. Well, it was worth a shot. The sea pokemon was distracted, so Clover launched a pokeball anyways.

The kid beside them raced out of the water. In his hands was a Clamperl, which he held overhead victoriously. His whoops grated on Clover's nerves. If she couldn't secure a Clamperl, she was going to create a whirlpool with her pokemon to chase everyone out of the beach. This was becoming a huge joke... and a huge source of frustration. How hard was it to find a Clamperl? But now, her pride was involved. She couldn't quit.

They had failed this final trick as many times as they had succeeded in their first tricks. After a string of victories, getting tied up on the last move was a bitter pill. "Please, let this be the one." They were going to be soaked if not.

Clover was on lookout this time for Baltoy. She had little interest in experiencing an explosion. So when she saw one dawdling nearby, she ordered Oricorio to handle it. "Hurricane!" Oricorio obeyed, flapping her wings to generate a powerful hurricane to sweep up the earthly creature. Clover waited for the winds to lessen before tossing a pokeball at the disoriented pokemon. The pokemon was definitely not knocked out with their type match up, but he would definitely be dizzy.

One more round in the safari. There were pokemon to catch that he hadn't captured last time. Still, he had four pokeballs. And Gligar was an interesting pokemon. They didn't think there were others with the same type. Also, they were silly little guys, which Clover could appreciate. Oricorio used teeter dance to confuse it. Clover got in close and tossed the ball.

That wasn't good news, though the presence of them was. "Do you know where they are? I want to see them." This was the path forward. She had complete faith in the Protectors being the answer. "I saw the electrical one at the Plant. Mr. Howard said it was just a shard. I'm not sure what that means, but if they're all in pieces like that, maybe we can put them together."[break][break]

If they weren't 'whole,' then maybe they were haywire because of a missing shard. More quietly, they asked: "Do you think Rocket would be interested in that kind of thing?" It was hard for them to parse just what the goals of the organization were, at least in any specific sense.

UGH. Clover could do it. She had had so much success in the beginning but she was getting in her own head about the final trick. She just needed to place on the leaderboard. She took a deep breath again. She could do it. She just needed to not put pressure on herself. So what if it took ten more minutes to land the final twist? She had time.

The warden had called them back, but she'd also been amenable to letting Clover have another run. The ticket was worth the price. Honestly, he really hoped to find another of those star-like rocks. They were gentle in disposition and very cute. Clover wanted to see how much floating or flying they could do, but the one she'd caught last time had been asleep, so she'd yet to see it in action.

"Oh, hell yeah!" She pumped a fist in the air, her other arm wrapped tight around the stolen pokemon, as she watched the hydro pump keep the opposing forces back. "I love water types," they said with a glint in their eye. "That'll keep those things busy for a while." They weren't strong swimmers. The flood would also make it difficult for more than a few to escape the warehouse at a time, at least until the last gush of water was pouring out of it; the two of them would be long gone by then. [break][break]

"I like your style, dude! You ever need a buddy, just hit up ol' Clover - I gotchu." They airdropped their contact info from their Rotom phone.

Scatterbug guffawed. This Combee was very interesting. It made her wish Clover had more bugs to interact with, but the trainer primarily owned birds. [break][break]

"Scatterbug-bug." Pollen? I didn't think flowers could be food. Sounds exotic." She considered the Combee's more sullen attitude. "Sca-sca-scatter!" You could be a queen! I believe in you!" [break][break]

A bell rang out in the daycare, suggesting the day was over and their trainers were here. It was time to return home.

Clover appreciated that the two of them were aligned on diner food. "Sweet! If you see me put away three stacks of pancakes, don't call for help." There was nothing like breakfast food outside of breakfast hours. It was the greatest indulgence, really. [break][break]

The pikachu wrecked the nearest Taillows, so Clover sent Tropius to collect their forms for the turn-in. The owners of the orchard would surrender them to the Rangers for rehabilitation, but more importantly, the owners would pay up that reward. "N'Avery, I'm Clover." She held out a hand. "Pleased to meetcha!"
