To be honest, it doesn't seem like the most far-sighted idea to leave a garden full of questionably-sentient plants with a silly guy that doesn't have the best track record of brain cells shown and used within ... uh ... since forever, basically. But as every broken clock is right twice a day (unless it's one of those digital ones, then they are never right), the Grookey is actually doing a spectacular job at tending to the gardens, with a little aid from her father and just a lot inherent empathy for the growing buds.[break]

It honestly makes Vespa relieved to see that there is something other than climbing on her shoulder that he's very good at, so ... well. When she notices the purple invader honing onto the berries as Sun is singing (the closest proximity to it) to the berry trees, of course she can't let it slide. That'd be a failure as Sun's trainer and best friend.[break]

Quickly, she brings out the Falinks Squad, silently gesturing them to attack the Oricorio - preferably without making too much noise, so the Grookey wouldn't even notice. Thankfully, they are able to take down the bird swiftly after an attack and a Pokéball thrown. After all ... huh, wait, isn't that a ghost type? Heh, maybe, it'll help her learn more about them ...

It seems like a bold claim to find someone as it feels like the whole area has already been skimmed through, with only so much left to do (mostly cleaning the debris up, to be honest). Vespa has been running around for a while before she remembers - wait, one of the rangers ... didn't they give her something like a signalling device, after she refused to be evacuated due to personal reasons? Hastily looking in her pockets, she soon manages to fish out the flashlight-of-sorts, immediately running a bit back, but not too much, before lighting a sign into the air.[break]

Thankfully, it doesn't take much time until someone shows up, asking for what is going on - Vespa briefly explains the situation of the paths having to be cleared, and a nest of Poliwhirls and Poliwags having been caught in the crossfire. Fortunately, the ranger is quick to understand, devising a plan as they walk back. Thankfully, the situation is resolved just fine, with more debris being cleared and the Poliwhirl family safely relocating. Whew ...

Vespa feels pretty out of breath, so she is grateful that the others are going first for the closing remarks, giving her some time to fumble over her breath and also be amused by what the others have in store. A mic drop? She wonders if Cassandra didn't actually practice that in front of the mirror ... but guessing from the persistent red on the other's face, probably not.[break]

Looking over to the Yanmega-Ditto, a little bit of a wry smile, she nods at the gym leader's suggestion. It sounds reasonable enough and it would make transporting off the chunks of debris a lot easier. Well ... maybe being someone else can be beneficial after all? "Let's get going then! You guys-" she is about to say after it seems like Josh is concluding his instructions, just when she sees ... huh? What's that Type:Null doing? Not very helpful, it seems, though it amuses her more. "Pff, my Squad is only battling against hard-working Pokémon, though," she notes with a grin, remarking to the other, "it's all good. I get that, to be honest, but ... well, work is work here." Actually, she is quite glad that the Falinks' brass is merely blinking at the Type:Null's goading. There is certainly always temptation to measure one's strength in a formidable battle, but there is also work to be done. And having gotten used to see Dorothy in many shapes and forms, they get right to it after a moment, rushing through several pieces of steel with Megahorn and waiting for the Corviknight-Ditto to carry them off before continuing.[break]

Seeing that Josh is also going off to scout the area, she also decides to have a closer look at what is actually around them, humming a little to the constant noise of things breaking (safely). Hm ... That is, until she- stepping back hastily, she runs over to where she thought she saw Josh last, pointing towards where she just was, "-I think a fire is breaking out back there-"

While their gang is trying their best to convince the Poliwhirls of the situation, Vespa's eyes are also frantically looking around. Unfortunately, the debris seems to have locked the Pokémon into the corner, and there is some reluctance to move elsewhere since - well, there isn't much, is there? Fortunately, they seem a little more open to the idea as time passes, which is when she decides something. Looking over to the Falinks Squad, she nods, "you guys - try to clear the debris a bit. Remember what we did for all the other chunks? You got this!"[break]

Then, she is looking over to Cassandra. "Can you try to convince them a little more? I'll see if there is a ranger around that can help ..." A wry smile is on their face. "Can't say I know much about Poliwhirls, at least ..." What would their ideal habitat even be like? Definitely not something as fallen-together as this.[break]

Pondering over the offer given by Cassandra Kubrick, Vespa ends up shaking her head as she sips on her own creation of raspberries and aguav berries, frowning a little over the taste. It's quite ... bitter and sour, with just that desirable hint of sweetness underlaying the first few notes. "Nah, I'm good - doesn't look like those are ..."[break]

Curiously, she looks over the Pokémon that approach, with whom the Grookey is already establishing a first friendly contact with, before grinning and shaking her head. It seems there are indeed more from where one came ... and it seems that they all share one sentiment: Anger. It's understandable, considering the state of all things, and the huge pollution that is going on ... ugh ... but do they truly have to fight? Unlike the Bruxish she fought before with Shalin, the Poliwhirls don't look quite as aggressive. Or, well, they do, but it's more like a response than a natural state.[break]

Ugh! If only thinking were easier, then maybe- she looks around. Wait. Where did one of the trooper disappear to? With wide eyes, she notices with utmost shock how one of the Falinks troopers is separating from the group, curiously approaching a nest-like structure with a group of Poliwags that have been obscured from view by ... "Uah! Look, their home got real messed up!" she whisper-shouts to her friend, unfortunately pointing towards where the Poliwags are hiding, which in turn draws the attention of the Poliwhirls - which ... "Wait, sorry, sorry, we're - we don't mean harm! We can help, okay? Please? See, uh ..." Crap. Does she even have a convincing argument. Uh ... uh ... "Sun, come out! Show them we mean no harm - maybe?" Hahaha ... seeing the sunshine smile of the Grookey, surrounding by a group of hostile Pokémon ... it can only turn out great, right ...

After she has been gracefully allowed to pinch the other's cheeks, she lets the leaves in her hair be removed without a protest, either, even though she hasn't even noticed them before and found it too much of a hassle to have them removed. But, still, before she can even think of replying something to the other about their reunion, it seems that the quiet times are ... quite over.[break]

"This place do be teemin' with Pokémon ..." Vespa mutters under her breath, unsure if Pokémon in this habitat have always been this hostile or if there is something else that is happening. "Squad, let's Protect for now!" she rushes alongside Cassandra towards the Empoleon. It seems a little strange that there is a singular Poliwhirl, she wonders if there are more ... hmm ...

It's pretty surreal, if one would ask Vespa - in a Post Edit, she would be blended in with her name being displayed ("Vespa B.), and some crunchy subtitle to state her age and profession ("old enough to Slay"), and she would be saying ... "Hot dangit." Not that any of her group would hear it since the crowd is irritatingly ecstatic, but she blames it on the awesome trio that they are forming. And Cian, probably. Snorting at his reaction to the announcement, she is officially entering last, all according to them being called out, pushing the sunglasses on her nose just right.[break]

While she is singing along to the tunes a little here and now, dancing ... quite ... interpretatively, as one could argue, alongside her Pokémon, Vespa only really starts to take the stage when the rap section hits, expressing an emotion rather unusual with the brute-ish force of her usual day-to-day. But a little tenderness just brings out the syllables just right, turning around towards her temporary groupmates with a victory sign.

Vespa nods, unaware of the other's possible disgruntlement, over the task explained. The ranger before must have said something similar as memories flash back ... ah, right, that's what's going on. And it's a land clean-up duty as well, considering she doesn't really have a Pokémon that could help with water tasks. Looking at the Falinks Squad instead, she nods. "Yeah, the Squad can do that pretty well, I think, and uhh ..." She looks out for the Yanmega-Ditto, still buzzing happily in the air. "That's ... uhm, that's a ditto, so I guess if you want it to copy another Pokémon that could help ...?"[break]

She doesn't, however, expect a Type:Null to show up, making her blink several times. It reminds her of Shalin's funky stuff ... Is everyone so stacked? Maybe she should really get her crap together and start to aim for something. "Cool dude," she comments, trying to keep her focus - well - focussed. Now is not the time to ask! Maybe! She should get this done, so she can venture a little and try to find Cassandra, before another ranger finds her to do things with. And wait, what exactly is that Type:Null up to-?[break]

Meanwhile, the Falinks are already on the task, going for a big chunk as they channel a precise Megahorn, breaking a broken steel compartment into smaller parts that they coordinate to toss into the container, opening the way to other debris and wreckage.
