In face of seeming scrutiny, there is only blatant, misplaced confidence in return as she narrows her eyes at the older, tilting her head a little as she responds to the intense gaze with something of an intensity of her own - unwilling to bend, until confusion settles as the other doesn't seem to hold up to that moment, letting it all fly by like the smoke she exhales. "Uh ... you sure?" Vespa sounds and looks doubtful over her words, though then again, who is she to judge what people do and don't do in order to pay respects to spirits? "... Me? Uh. Not - quite," she fumbles over her words a bit as the direction is thrown back at her. She scratches the back of her head, "I guess I just like being here ...?"[break]

Which sounds odd. Very much so. But there is something curious about the Pokémon that reside here, like the Duskull that approached Fuyue and seems to be holding conversation - Vespa decides to place a Pokéball next to it, inviting it with a smile - seeing if the Duskull would like to come with them, before turning back to the stranger. "I'm Vespa. You?"

Smarter braincells have been distributed in the age of the earth, but such a thing is not a given with the soul that is brandishing the walks and ways of Route 102 right now. Surely, there would have been a lot of safer places to go to - surely, she could have concocted some kind of plan that wouldn't involved walking right into a warzone. Surely, she should have been smarter than this, standing at the doors of graduation in such a messy time and place to be, and surely ...[break]
[break]
But even as Vespa is a lot of things, she is also very much all of the contradictions that exist, in myriads and plethoras. It has been shown in the face of Kyogre - challenging the forces of the seas directly, only to fail so utterly and measly as she did, would have been expected of someone who barely knows how to fight and has stood at the fronts of battle even less. And seemingly, this would only add further to the amalgamations that she is putting herself through.[break]

Still, the relief on her face is genuine and overflowing when she finally finds Cassandra amidst it all. "You! Good, you're still real alive," she mutters out, almost a humoured hum as she unpacks something from her small backpack, revealing a bag of the other's favourite snacks. With her are only the Misdreavus and a few that decided to tag along, coating them with some sort of ghostly presence as she looks around. It's calm here, but ... Vespa waves to the Pokémon, too, as she looks back at her best friend. "So, you good?"

She isn't certain about her presence in this world anymore - stripped of her usual brazen bravado, a high note that usually decided the tact of her world, there is only ... something like quiet curiosity. Almost turning akin to a ghost herself in lack of her ghostly companion, the young one ventures amidst the rising panic in a strange calm. She has no idea what she is actually looking at, but the sounds are helping - the crashings and screamings and hastily steppings of feet across the polished floor.[break]

This place ... it's a really strange one, isn't it? There is akin familiarity in standing next to Cassandra Kubrick and Thea Naito, though she doesn't quite so interact with either her nor the words of DESIREE BLOOMS that might have evoked an agreement - being anti-girlypop is really the worst, even if you're a Ghost type - of sorts, but not this time, as she stares emptily at what might be alabaster, left broken and bruised in its wake.

TL;DR

- Vespa wears a Wooper mask and a mintgreen dress, and she is no longer accompanied by her partner Quinn Crisp the Misdreavus who wears a Grookey mask. Apparently called 'Woo'. Gradually forgetting her name.[break]
- Very out of it, turning into a ghostly shell over the course of time.[break]

To be honest, she hasn't though too much - her expectations were down below the basement when it came to such things as eerie occurrences, perhaps because she already feels rather familiar with Ghost types that she doesn't know whether or not she should give too much weight to those so-called ghost sightings and suchlike. It's an intriguing venture to follow when she feels sleepless and likes to wander, but at the same time ... Hm.[break]

How very curious, indeed.[break]
[break]
It's only after she tries to make out the numbers on her way-too-bright screen (she gotta change her lockscreen wallpaper ... for sure) that perhaps, she has to reconsider her thoughts and stances. Flinching back from ghastly shadows, there is yet ... undenying curiosity when she looks at something she does not know. Even the Misdreavus cowers a little, hiding behind the young student as they both watch the creature. "What ... who's there? Are you even here?"

To be honest, she is a bit disappointed that things are coming to such an ... anticlimactic end. Sure, it's nice that nobody is hurt and all, and she can only guess that Dorothy will eventually find their way back, but ... yeah. Maybe more of a spooky story than naptime? Hm ... Maybe she should check her expectations again. This feels quite off, after all, and maybe, it's really all good and dandy the way it is. Kyle's words do also make sense, nodding as she watches him sit down, typing something up on his phone. "Yeah, I guess ... It can't be too long before they wake up, right?" Vespa theorises, fingers on her chin, when ... uh?[break]

Staring at how Kyle is putting out earbuds and how he praises the place for being a good hideout - well, he isn't wrong, but ... Huh? "I - uh - I guess that's true ... so are you just gonna chill here?" She raises an eyebrow in question, feeling like this might not be fully what a private investigator should be doing in such a case. But then, is there even something as a protocol to follow when you're a private investigator? It's kinda like, who's gonna tell you off, yourself? Huh ... Defeated by non-logic, she soon sits down, too, watching how the Grookey is beginning to discover the place by bits and pieces. "I guess ... that works, too ...?" she mutters, more to herself as she isn't sure how much the other can hear over his earbuds.[break]

She'll have to ask her questions some other time, maybe.

Not only that, but she is stuck as well as she stares deadpan into the eyes of an equally dead, if not dead-er, Gimmighoul - its hand outstretched, awaiting the payment it is very much due. Any of her Girly Ghostly Gang also isn't of much help as they only stare at her with confusion, not quite so sure what this is all about - or maybe they are, but don't quite care or don't know how to help their trainer in this situation. It's only when there is a dulled sound in the distance that the young student looks up ... and looks upon a very familiar figure. Oh-? Oh, wait-[break]

Hearing Cassandra Kubrick voice as she writes the number down, she only elbows the other with a grin once she opened her eyes, "don't you know you gotta leave it up to fate?" Surely, the handwriting is barely coherent, even though it's just supposed to be some numbers, but ... still! As long as one can make out something of the fact, there is bound to be something working. One day. Maybe. Possibly. She doesn't even know, but as she stares at the new Pumpkaboo, it's the same spiel over and over again.

There is nothing more eerie than the absence of her own ghosts, Vespa would soon come to notice - as the Misdreavus disappears with a quizzical look in her eyes, there is no answer that the young one could offer in response. There is nothing but a vacant feeling of ... disparate positions, of something larger at play that is extraordinarily compelling in the grand scheme of it all. She doesn't even notice that time seems to freeze - much more interested in the way the playful Ghost types turn stoic in face of anguish, neither celebrating nor mourning the fear that spreads. Maybe this is planned. Maybe ... "I'll go check out those rooms," she immediately says to Cassandra Kubrick, Thea Naito and DESIREE BLOOMS as the doors open, not quite rushing forward, but still moving with the surge that goes exploring. Her eyes keep being on the Ghost Pokémon, perhaps in a sense of loss as she isn't able to hear her own partner's cackling anymore.[break]

Though she has no clue of the faint magnetic energy that is emitted by the strange rocks, she still glances over them, trying to remember anything her parents could have told her about places ... like ... Oh, wasn't there a time her mother mentioned something about magnetic fields that exist in other places? Though neither of the Baskerville family harbour much interest in Electric types, sometimes, they do appear in dual types they favour, and though she cannot say for certain ... Huh?[break]

Is she a Baskerville? Why does that name sound ... both familiar, and not at all? Her head starts to feel dizzy as she locks eyes with a Gengar, furrowing her eyebrows at it as she stares, and stares, and stares, as if it would reveal any answer at all.

TL;DR

For most part, Vespa remained in more of a listener role as she mostly nodded and spoke little, unsure what would breach into more dangerous, more emotional property. It feels quite far away from her own experiences, after all, where the worst may be homework she forgot about when the teacher is going around to check. So distant, and yet, so many things have been happening and keep happening as she lives on with her normal life ... huh? "She sounds like one heck of a force for sure," she comments eventually, though the mention of a particular place throws her off a little, "... what's the border?"[break]

But before she can fully listen to Josh's potential reply, she is already distracted by a Drifblim that is floating by - flashbacks of a certain mission she once did with that strange private investigator, kyle lopez (well, or he did, and she just tagged along, to be honest), pass her and there is an urge to study this particular kind of Pokémon a little more. Thus, she directs the Roaring Moon towards it, weakening the dual type with a Dragon Breath before she throws a Pokéball at it, smiling triumphantly. Then, she turns around to Josh again, "... right, where were we?"

"Huh ... uh? What do those plates look like? Anything special about them?" she wonders out loud, though she could facepalm herself soon after she finished speaking - of course there would be something special about it when there is a priest getting lost in the Silence Icelands for them. Even as she is pretty sure they are quite a way away from Petalburg nonetheless, but ... eh. It'll be fine. They will eventually find where the ice makes way for greener grass, for sure. Maybe. Possibly. ... She has to be home for dinner.[break]

She doesn't take much notice of the Bergmite that disappears amidst the snow, waddling off safely and soundly as Vespa is more looking at how Isaac manages to catch a Bronzong without too much force applied. The Misdreavus makes it a task for itself to hover above the ball, close to the other a little, humming and snickering as it does so. "Nice job," she remarks with a smile when ... man, this one has a fancy way of speaking. It almost reminds her of her father, though he is a little more angry than the composed, lost vibes this stranger is giving off. "Sure, I don't mind - you come from a, say, warmer place or something? Have you been to iceland-y lands before? Where does Arceus really come from, even?" she wonders out loud as she gestures for them to follow and for her to ... well. She should find a way now, right? She was kind of spilling big words and there is nothing but her own pride hinging upon the stubbornness that wants to lead them both to safety, even as she barely knows where left and right is. But he doesn't have to know ... for now.
