Surely Someday.

How long has it been? Since she began building this place for herself, a distant place to take care of what she has been devoting herself to, ever since the many branches of her family have taken root elsewhere, only for her to stay? How long has it been since a second soul accompanied in this place, nurturing an emotion entirely foreign - a whirlwind to rustle the breezes, loud and clear, until she was left with the echoes of a ghost long-past? How long ... since academic endeavours filled this place alongside her own, brilliant minds in their own right, and all she could witness of all those years?[break]

But time does not seem of essence as Islwyn recognises the figure - there seems to be something hardened about her, changes in those subtle ways that people change when gone for an indescribable time. Something that she does not recognise, and yet - tools clattering softly onto the meadows underneath, she approaches hastily, as if this illusion could be gone as fast as she knows that her Hisuian Zorua could dispel and create such. She doesn't trust her own judgement.[break]

Yet, she halts a few feet prior, confusion - joy - something tender, something kind, something unsure overtaking her expressions. "... You're here," the forest ranger whispers, though unsure what else to say, "... you still know my name, Keke." This could be all but a fleeting moment, after all.

"Everyone has their own preferences and tastes, regardless of whatever inclinations may exist," the forest ranger hums in turn, unsure whether or not she should point out the seemingly obvious. But if this is how they'd like to be, then she has no say in disturbing their adventure together. "An apple cake sounds like a fine thing, though, let's see about it!"[break]

Once they arrive, she is quickly to gather a few more ingredients that they need, now that they also have the confirmation of the two Pokémon - she can hear a distinct huff and gruff from within the apple that is still very happy to be taken around places by Froschl. It almost looks like a ritual of sorts as the worm's end wiggles, attempting to communicate where he would like to go. It's probably the most Hwyddan ever moved in a single moment. "Yeah, it seems the both agree - shall we get started then?" Islwyn remarks with a gentle smile, putting on an apron and offering one to Katharina if she'd like, before starting on the batter and the necessary procedures, leaving small things like taste-testing and suchlike to the Pokémon that seem to approve.[break]

And thankfully, since the Applin is glued to Froschl for the meanwhile quite so, there has been no case of mixing this one up with one of the regular apples, either ...[break]

Now, as the afternoon is nearing to evening, she hears a couple of voices outside, just in time when they put the cake into the oven. "Seems like everyone is returning, hm?" Wherever they might have dispersed to ... She gives the Appling and the Froggiursa a pat. Some things do return home. "Shall we give them a greeting?"

The Skiddo can't help but to draw out some extra jumps, clapping his hind hooves with glee and joy over being able to give someone a ride! A ride! He is really doing it! But over his "wahoo!"s and "yahoo!"s, he is still able to discern the voice from the rider above, making him halt for a moment. Oh! Right! If he had a professor, they would probably be very disappointed in him because he is not showing proper etiquette and all that. He should be respectful of the one on his back, too![break]

"Sorry, sorry - sorry, I just got! So! Excited! So, where is your destination? I'll bring you there as faaaaaast as a blip!" Pryderi states with confidence, puffing up his neck and the leaves that are around there as he is unable to stand still, making microsteps and microjumps all the way.

Past the Vileplume is a Kilowattrel that is invading their space - or maybe, they invaded his first? - as it glides down, obstructing the path they were meant to take. However, the Fomantis is quite adamant on where she seems to want to go, sending X-Scissor and Fury Cutters his way whenever he would fly by. It eventually makes the other flee as Branwen continuous on her way, eyes looking and looking ...[break]

It almost makes it hard for Islwyn to follow, though she is close behind the Grass type however, not saying anything as there isn't much to be told. Just where is she headed to, however ...?

Thankfully, it seems that the terastallised Hydreigon has shown more interest in the Gouging Fire than the much smaller Eldegoss floating by, so her singing has hit it with more surprise than it could have been, putting it to sleep soon after several Tera Blasts have found its target - unfortunately, it also means that Josh and his partner are falling into slumber. However, she soon finds something ... gleaming beside the Hydreigon. Quietly, she is gesturing for the Eldegoss to keep up her song and after tending a little to the wounded Paradox Pokémon and ensuring that its trainer also isn't badly injured, she is approaching the Hydreigon stealthily, walking past it with caution while being on high alert.[break]
[break]
Islwyn then begins to proceed and pluck a flower from a small place where the rock is making way for soil, fostering a type of ruby-coloured flower that she hasn't seen before. Though she would prefer to study it in its natural habitat a little longer, the gravity of the situation is demanding her to hurry, so she preserves what she can and then gently moves to Josh and Entei.[break]
[break]
Though it's a shame to stop the expedition just here when there is definitely more to see, with one fleeting life in hand, she should get this one documented and researched first before possibly aiming for something else. Thus, she wakes the other two up gently, gesturing for the Eldegoss to follow her. "I have found what I have been looking for - it might be best to return to the surface for now before the flower wilts," she whispers as she explains the situation, gesturing to the glass in which she is keeping said flower, gleaming in almost crystalline colours.

"Of course - I'm sure we'll be able to find something to do for everything," Islwyn muses, quite confident. It's not the first time that she has done a little feast for everyone, after all, though it has usually only ever included herself and her own partner pokémon. And ... a distant time ago, a certain other as well. But there is no use musing over the past as in the present, there are enough tasks they can do. "I was also thinking of a cake, though I'm not sure yet what type ... do you have a preference, perhaps? Or is there a tradition in your coven that you'd like to try and recreate?" In the meanwhile, the Applin seems to try and nod to the suggestion made, though only a wild wiggle of the actual Pokémon's worm part is visible as the apple itself is quite firmly stuck to the paw.[break]

Soon, they reach the constructions of abodes and she is inviting the both - the three of them to enter as she holds open the door. By the kitchen to their left, she already has a few main ingredients prepared, but who knows what else there might be needed? "Make yourself at home," she invites them all, placing a special kind of staircase near the table, so the Froggiursa-Applin pair can also climb onto the table if desired.

The absolute wildcard of the forest ranger's team is enjoying the rays of September sunshine during this quaint little day as it rummages the route, having been left to his own devices as Izzy seems to have to do something else and has given him full permission to just be. And because 'just be' does not work when just staying in one place, he has been quick to scavenge the already-familiar route, to just ... be! Walk and skip and jump![break]
[break]
But it also gets quite lonesome on its own, so ... soon again, the Skiddo is off to search for someone to give a ride because yeah! That would be a fun thing to do right now! Excited, he is approaching the nearest Pokémon he can find, screaming joyously, "waaaaatch out! Here I come!" and in one fell swoop, he is (gently) throwing the Pokémon on his back, jumping a few times happily. "Let's go for a ride! A ride! You and me! Woooo!"

There is a gentle smile on her face as she nods over the other's offer, "thanks - should there be a time of need, I'm grateful that I can count on you both, then." And as she witnesses the extent of the cave and such, there is wonder how far it might reach - how deep it would go. She is trying to take note of as much as she can, eyes always careful of what is around them. Time seems to flow slowly and as they venture forth, it's hard to say whether six or sixty minutes have passed.[break]
[break]
Still, it cannot be quite as peaceful all the time, so Islwyn finds herself slowing down as uncanny noises fill the space, echoing back and forth - the outcry of a beast, though it sounds more like what she is used to than the one Josh is riding himself. "I would hope ..." she returns in kind to the champion trainer, hoping. Luckily for them, in fact ... the Hydreigon that appears soon after doesn't seem as unordinary, though brilliant light is reflected upon the terastal skin covering its form. "Blodeuwedd, sing!" she calls out, hoping to subdue the creature without harm, though whatever the case, at least get a head-start in this way.

It seems that the Applin has found an equally valiant friend in the - Froggiursa, the sight of the two being stuck and glued together quite endearing to the forest ranger. To think that this is also how her life is like now, with more people flocking towards the forests who enrich the sounds of nature and pull their own weight ... Quite fascinating, indeed.[break]
[break]
"We were just finishing up our patrol for this time, and I was considering to bake something to celebrate the coming of harvest season, if you - and Froschl, of course - would like to help?" In this manner, it doesn't seem like Froschl will be easily detached from Hwyddan, either, or vice-versa, but perhaps they can find some interest in creating something together.

Thinking back to their shared past for the recent months, it's truly a strange thing that occurred - never could she have thought about such a thing back then, though she is certainly not feeling unhappy about such a development. Instead, it's more encouraging to see how the Applin is valiantly rolling towards the Teddi- Froggiursa (?)'s paw, almost in a grateful bow, too. "Oh, that is good to hear, then," Islwyn hums in tune, waving to Froschl in greeting, too. She still hasn't quite understood the entire ... thing with the Teddiursa being a Froggiursa, actually, and all that, but she isn't about to question it, nor shatter someone's dream. And perhaps, she is also wrong about some things? Nobody could be quite certain.[break]

Now, though, as she has met Katharina here, and it seems like the Applin and the Froggiursa are positively glued to another ... "Mind if you help me if something? Do you have time right now?"

As they walk alongside the trees and forests that show signs of the coming season, she has yet to figure out what is agitating the Fomantis this much that she seems to be foregoing her daytime naps in search of ... who? What? She can't help but to wonder as there seems to be more afoot than she might have initially thought. Every once in a while, the Pokémon going ahead would look back, keeping eye contact with her trainer to ensure that she is still here before simply going forth, cutting through vines that hang in there unfortunately or simply passing by-and-under.[break]

They are passing a group of Vileplume, one that looks directly at the duo, though it doesn't seem like Branwen is taking an interest and before Islwyn can properly register things, they are past already, too, deeper and deeper into the forest's mysteries.

The forest ranger gives the other a gentle smile, hoping to be reassuring as she says, "don't worry, I know how to look after myself and those around me. It's not my first and certainly not my last dangerous expedition." Though she has trained her Pokémon more into the direction of functionality in terms of tending to the fields and the forest itself, there are still some that enjoy the battle such as Branwen, or who foster her own sense of protectiveness and the need for strength to do so, such as Blodeuwedd, even as their types might not be as impressive at first glance. There are quite a few ways to work with what she has, still.[break]

It feels that her life is currently filling with all kinds of anomalies - not necessarily, not quite only what is going on in Hoenn with the sightings of different phenomena that aren't typically observed in the recent decade, or even century, but ... something else that is of concern. Something that has filled her life with a new type of life, though the young researchers aren't quite filling the empty space that already existed, rather building around it in some way or another. Leaving her abode in the early morning before anyone is quite awake apart from the early birds of the forest, her thoughts can't help but think to Keiko Nakamura, a puzzling sensation emerging as she looks over what she thinks to have known, for it never changed - and yet, it did, in its own small ways. Smiling softly, she wonders if change is that bad of a thing - as it seems that once more, the Fomantis is in for a chase, hopping and jumping to get her trainer's attention. "Alright, Branwen, who are we looking for today?"
