At the repeated thanks from the stranger, Marvie can feel a blush creeping over their cheeks. They busy themself with patting the Lairon's head and getting it into a PokéBall before clearing their throat to answer.

"You're welcome, really," they repeat, still embarrassed. "I mean, I caused the bruises in the first place, so this was the least I could do..."

That wasn't the smartest thing to say, in hindsight, as it may well make things more awkward. Although, the Shiny Zorua thankfully provides a distraction from their blunder. They exhale in relief while its Trainer watches it befriend the Lapras.

"Oh, I'm glad I didn't worry your little one too badly," she murmurs, almost more to herself than to the stranger. Meanwhile, the pair of Mimikyu have become fast friends. She's momentarily concerned for her Mawile, who's so close to Charmer, but to her relief Yachiyo too has made another friend. "Whoa, where did this Varoom even come from? Were you under the snow or something, buddy? Well, it's whatever. Wanna join us?"

Circus Fantasia has a pretty long stay in Mauville ahead of them, but with the troupe taking a break from shows this afternoon, Marvie finds herself with little to do. So, she figures it can't hurt to go out and catch some more wild Pokémon; those she doesn't keep, she can sell.

Someone else has had the same idea, from the looks of it, which she doesn't mind so much. She can just give the stranger a nod and walk right onward, after all. Except that... Wait a minute. That Swampert has an injury on its flank, and the Rotom's model looks familiar too.

"Mille?" Marvie calls out before thinking any better of it, though she has the good sense to do it quietly. Briefly, she wonders whether dee even recalls her. They've never really spoken, after all. "That's, um, a great shade of purple."

Well, this other Trainer seemed friendly. Like, too much so. A part of Marvie was tempted to claim they'd never been to the tunnel either and leave the stranger to fend for herself, but they already lied enough without choosing to do so. Besides, it would be nice to actually help someone, wouldn't it? Inwardly, they braced themself and quirked their lips upward.

"I know my way around, yeah," they answered. "It's been a while, but I doubt the tunnel's changed much. You can call me Marvie."

Without further ado she set out again, not bothering to check if the other teenager was following or even to look at the map she'd brought. Instead, she oriented herself by sound. She could hear water dripping in the distance, the footfall and shifting of their small party, and... There. The clang of a bell, somewhere to left. She quickened her step and marched right over, again without even a glance back.

A Clodsire and a Bronzong were engaged in some kind of dispute, it turned out, with the former's spines showing and the latter being responsible for the noise. They looked over to Chenbaren and quirked their eyebrow, but the Alolan Raichu hesitated. So did Hanna.

"Oh come on now," Marvie muttered, stepping back far enough to run, gaining momentum and leaping over the two wild Pokémon. She landed squarely in-between the pair, to stunned silence from them — and agitated cries from her own duo. "What? You wouldn't do your part, so I did it myself. As for you two: Bronzong, I've got a place for you. Clodsire, you get to keep your territory, so tuck those spines back in. Sound good?"

Despite having asked, Marvie is still taken aback by the affirmative answer. This stranger is pretty fragile, huh? For once they're glad for their lack of expression, lest they offend the lady on top of bruising her.

"You're welcome," is all Marvie says before crouching on the snow to open their backpack. "Let's see here..." Having retrieved the kit — good thing she lugs it around most of the time —, the acrobat swiftly grabs a tub of ointment, then looks up again...

... to see that a wild Lairon is watching them inquisitively. She's a beautiful creature, and Marvie wastes no time before giving the Mawile a nod. While Yachiyo goes up to the Iron Armor Pokémon to socialize and Charmer gets acquainted with the other Mimikyu, Marvie looks back to her fellow human.

"Hold your arms up," they say, with the firm tone of someone who's used to this, "above the heart. Lemme just — Yachiyo, I need a hand."

It doesn't even occur to them that they could have applied the ointment first and been done with it, as acrobatics are second nature to them and this is an easy stunt besides. What does surprise — and delight — Marvie is that the Lairon comes to her aid too. She smiles for the first time as she climbs onto the wild Pokémon's back to stand above the taller woman and apply the ointment.

They finished setting up the big top in Slateport's lower district just days ago, which means there's plenty of advertising to get done. Sure, the street parades draw in most of the audiences and word of mouth does wonders once they've done a show or two, but Marvie also knows the power of simply going around with flyers.

The acrobat could have simply kept going, as they know these lines by heart, but a girl standing off to the side gives them pause. She's just... Gawking, as is her Grookey, and they get the sense that all this one needs is one little push. Thankfully, they are in performer mode and ready to walk right up with a dazzling smile, flyer held out.

"We've got a wide variety of sideshows for your entertainment, too!" Marvie says, loudly enough to be heard by passerby but making eye contact with that girl. The Sylveon at her side — not content with simply being there in all his eye-catching, Shiny glory — executes a graceful short dance to drive the point home. "You can't go wrong with the fire dancers. Or maybe a visit to our fortune teller is more up your alley, miss?"

As far as places to find Steel-type Pokémon go, a tunnel is not that bad; although, of course, it's lucky for Marvie that they aren't afraid of the dark. Hanna and Chenbaren are with them just in case their flashlight runs out of battery.

... Or in case there's a battle, she supposes, but those footsteps don't sound like a Pokémon's. Her guess is, sadly, confirmed when she lifts her flashlight — slowly and carefully, as she's not trying to shine it in the eyes of either human or Pokémon — to see another teenager.

Does she have to say anything? She probably should, shouldn't she, since she shone her flashlight on him? Darn it. She should've turned the thing off entirely, not lifted it. Although, she couldn't have done that, because she would have put herself at a disadvantage against an attacker.

It sure is cold out here, but then, that's to be expected of the Icelands and Marvie is bundled up well enough. They adjust their hood, more for the sake of moving their hands than out of necessity, and trudge onwards in the company of their Mawile and Mimikyu, who are rarely ever apart.

In spite of the cold it turns out that Marvie isn't the only human out here, as she bumps into a stranger pretty hard after a turn in the frozen path. The young woman looks vaguely familiar, but they don't pay it much mind. They see lots of people around the circus, after all.
