Of course this girl isn't going to just excuse them to do their job, irrespective of the fact that she's most likely a civilian. But then, she could be with the League on second thought, seeing as she looks to be about Marvie's age and they are working for Rocket. [break][break] They're also an exceptional case, though. They never even went to school due to traveling all the time, and there are more gaps in their formal education than not. It doesn't really matter. They know everything they need to handle themself. This stranger's occupation (or lack thereof) matters even less. All that matters is that she's keeping them from carrying their orders out — and confusing them. [break][break] "How is that worse?" Marvie asks, slightly stunned, though neither their face nor their tone change at all. "Would you rather I were raring to fight you or to, I dunno, injure Pokémon?"[break][break] There is no time to ponder the other girl's meaning further, as she calls on a Charcadet and... Oh. That's kind of a shame. Knowing Loulou, she would almost definitely want to befriend her evolutionary relative. Marvie isn't nearly as eager to make friends, nor even particularly good at it, but it does occur to her that this whole fight is kind of a shame. That matters least of all, she reminds herself. Entertaining hypotheticals is useless. This stranger refuses to back down, so she has to retaliate. It's that simple. [break][break] She'd better get to retaliating quickly, too, because that Fake Out hits and keeps Yachiyo from using Feint Attack — and from doing anything else — against the Charcadet, so that her Mawile ends up literally and figuratively toast. Oh well, it's not like she was planning to switch out anyway. [break][break] She wasn't planning on much of anything, of course, but she may have to plan after all. This girl is more skilled than Marvie thought at first. Their bout could be interesting, or — more likely — it could be a pain. Then the girl speaks again, and Marvie lifts a brow. Seems that she was right this time: It's gonna be a pain. [break][break] "Why would you think it's worse to be caught by me than to be out in —" they gesture at the devastation "— this? True, I am with Rocket and I am awkward too, but I care about my Pokémon as much as you League people. Most of those in Team Rocket do, I'd wager."[break][break] They're more curious than offended, though even their curiosity is unnoticeable. Yachiyo is the one displaying emotion, calling out and nodding with eagerness. For the first time Marvie's expression shifts, their lips quirking upwards with the barest hint of a smile. [break][break] "Thank you, sweetheart. Looks like we'll have to get serious, since Miss Justice Fighter here is determined to cause problems for us." They considered asking for a name, but Ms. Justice Fighter isn't giving them as much as the benefit of the doubt and so there's no reason to waste courtesy on her. [break][break] "That's a bit of a mouthful," they say to the Mawile contemplatively. Yachiyo calls out again. "You're right, she's not very polite, so scrap the Miss... JF will do just fine."[break][break] Having decided that, she looks back to JF and lifts a brow again, any hint of a smile disappearing from her face. Her hand moves to grip a Heal Ball, the only one among the six that's not covered in stickers or other decor; at least, not yet. Dyuradyura is a bit shy about making his taste known — but the Hisuian Zoroark has no such reservations when it comes to battle. [break][break] "I would give you one last chance, JF, but you obviously want me in jail and I'm not nice enough to go along with that," Marvie tells her opponent in the same monotone as always, then throws the Heal Ball with all her strength behind the swift, unembellished motion. "Sorry to disappoint."[break][break] A second Mawile appears right in front of the Comfey, poised to strike. They'll probably never get enough of seeing Illusion in action, nor of the fact that their inexpressiveness — which can make them feel quite self-conscious, they will admit — is an asset for once.
