he sound of grunting and banging had been enough to indicate that, upon entering a rural town, a pile of rocket bodies were seen toppling on one another. "what the hell are you guys doing in this town?!" he was on his way to farrabor town. on his way there was an empty town. in this empty town there were also members of team rocket harnessing wild pokemon; luckily, due to mateo's passing he set them free alongside his sceptile and dragonite.

"why are you all stealing pokemon here?!" he held one of the grunts by the collar of his shirt and began to shake him repeatedly. "ah! aye, answer me! hey! wake up, dickhead! hey, hey, hey, hey, hey!" he continued to repeatedly shake him until an answer was given. sadly, he was out cold. "damn..." sceptile and dragonite sighed in disappointment toward their trainer. he was too oblivious to realize he may have been a bit too hard on them.

his attention shifted behind him upon hearing the sound of footsteps. mateo readied for combat, along with his pokemon, for fear that they missed one. "i thought we got all of them, how the hell did we miss one?!" he grunted. the sun was setting and dark was almost upon them, so it was a bit hard to see just whose shadow loomed over them and stood before the sun.

nside the elevator he stood waiting. hands in his pocket. he didn't expect the elevator to come to a halt so abruptly. it was a sunday after all, just who in the world spent their time at the league office on a sunday? he was here to register himself and get settled in. not be faced with obstacles. and as he casually whistled a tune did a newcomer enter.

goggles affixed upon the top of his head. he kept his head straightforward. unnoticed to the wearer of a familiar face. mateo was one to mind his business, depending on the situation, but if you were to bother him? expect to get an angry ray of sunshine. the goggle wearing male felt as though someone was staring at him. he couldn't help it, but...it just felt as if he was being uneasily watched.

shifting his sight back upon the assailant. he'd stare back all with a look of confusion at first, but then, "oi!" he clapped at the man in sync with his shout. "you got a problem, idjit?!" mateo asked aggressively. wanting to understand just what the blonde headed guy's problem was. did he want some sort of pokemon battle? did he think this was a video game where if you walked in front of someone that it automatically meant a battle needed to be commenced?! no! what was wrong with him?

fangs bared. mateo directly pointed at the blonde, stating, "if you're trying to ask for a battle pipsqueak you best be ready to bring on the ice and some goddamn fairies!" little did mateo know, had he not been so caught up within the heat of the moment, that the person before him was one of old. "i ain't fuckin' around, idjit!"

a lover of dragons. he's been raised to possess a strong desire to protect and train them. his love for dragons has caused him to showcase the exact same care for humans. humans are ferocious, unpredictable creatures when left to their vices. so he's been taught to share his words of wisdom and kindness with all, even if it may be in an exuberant form.

some can say that he's intense and emotionally "high on life" but being raised around dragons can cause a child to develop the personality of one. he has a love for intense battles, so those who can leave a blazing trail of combat in their wake and transition the battlefield in a single round earn his admiration and respect immediately.

fun fact: he once fought a gym challenger's charizard against his dragonite. the battle led into the city and left a print within blackthorn landmark. he was greatly scolded, but it was worth it. he road on dragonite throughout that entire battle. ever since then mateo's never been allowed to get too crazy as he did that day. known for breaking a rule or two, he hasn't done a battle quite like that only because he has yet to find someone who could invigorate him with such a rush compared to that day. that battle was like a drug for mateo, it even brought out a newfound connection with dragonite.

has a love for dragon racing. so if you ever wish to challenge him and his dragonite to a race, then he'll be waiting! he's made numerous allies from doing such. most times he's actually the challenger rather then the challengee. mateo places others before himself--no matter the price he may pay. he's a strong-willed individual who is always ready to lay his life down for the weak and innocent--be they his friends or allies, he doesn't discriminate. he's had a few injuries here or there, but it's well worth it in order to see another safe. he's not the brightest apple, but having a smart cookie at his side will keep him protected from making foolish mistakes.

people who make excuses for themselves. it's his number one pet-peeve, along with those who commit selfish acts. people who are unable to treat their pokemon on an equal level have no right to call themselves a pokemon trainer, and he'll call you out as such. he despises those who can bat an eye without shedding a tear for their fallen friend. losing a pokemon is like losing a family member, and to just frivolously live as though it doesn't effect you can grind his gears.

he's an outspoken, spontaneous guy. some people tend to hate such types, so it's natural he may find two or three folks that dislike him. he's not a fan of prunes himself so it's only fair. those who see pokemon as nothing more then tools of war are automatically on his shit list and may never come to see eye to eye.
