The stench of this place is making her feel sick. Why was she here in the first place? Ah, right, the mayor had asked for a favour. Erin's first reaction had been to tell her she's not a plumber and to find somebody else. What was her name again? Plumeria or something? She should have taken the plumber's job instead. However, if she wanted to stay on the politician's good side, Erin had no other choice than to accept.

She should have put on a mask, at least, in hindsight. It's too late now to go back for one, so Erin instead instructs her empoleon to surround the two in a bubble that'd keep the stench out. Anyone who happened upon the pair would see a distorted, rainbow-hued version of them. As if looking through stained glass.

There is no problem until she sees a blastoise, a braviary, and a man giving them orders.

"What are you doing?" she shouts at the person responsible. A masked man, no less. Erin has to fight the long sigh that threatens to leave her lips. "There's clearly a blockade. If you keep shoving more waste down the sewers, it will simply flood back."

While Erin's tone throughout her reproach is serious and even demanding, a large portion of it would be lost in the thin layer of the globule.

It's no shinx or luxray, but Erin distinctively remembers mentioning to her gengar some time ago that she may add an ariados to the team, sooner or later. Well, thanks to the gengar, it'd be sooner, rather than later. Thank you, Mars. Ever so capable.

The spinarak hangs upside-down from the gengar's hand. As still as they come, too. "Did you already knock her out, Mars?" she asks curiously. It's not often that a wild pokémon gives her ace so much trouble that he decides to leave them unconscious. Given that she could do nothing about the spinarak's state, she simply opens a pokéball to house it for the time being.

Something is going wrong and Erin's mind starts to race even before being asked to brainstorm with the scientist. Everything happens too fast after his order to terminate the experiment. She watches with a frown as the would-be porygon falls apart into a million pixelated atoms. It's a dreadful sight.

"The model must have been missing a vertix. Did you run it through a render before this? And it's-" Erin stops, corrects herself. "It was green. Your wavelength was probably too low."

Her suggestions are completely speculative, based on her understanding of chemistry, informatics and design. After all, the process she'd followed to program her own pokémon had been quite different, and she'd also gone above and beyond to ensure her first attempt was also her first success.

"Was this your first time running this program?" To subject a creature to die mid-conception is too cruel even for her, and to do so more than once? She doesn't want to imagine it, but she owes it to the deceased pokémon to ask.

There is great discomfort in what she's about to ask next. She gulps it all down. "Siri, did you run a diagnosis?"

The porygon2 has, indeed, run a diagnosis. She pushes its results to print on a secondary screen, for the scientist to see. Erin takes a moment to check on Finn before going over them herself. He's always been a lot softer than her.

"You sound more disappointed at the fact than I am." The soft chuckle that follows ends up blending with one directected at the downing of his glass in a single shot. It's impressive, if a little crazy. Not to mention the drink she recommended is up next. "It's very popular where I'm from. When I saw it being offered here, I just had to take the chance to plug it. New day, new safari rotation. Mars is by her side today as well, as he tends to be most days. Erin's favoritism is not a careless thought, but a premeditated act, an incentive for the rest of her pokémon to grow stronger. The spotlight is there for any of them to take. Until then, she relies on the gengar.

"We're looking for a shinx today." Preferably a shiny one, she adds in her mind. With that instruction, she lets the gengar run (or float) wild. Erin's pace is slower, steadier. The hunt may have started, but she's here for a long run.

The rustling of leaves that comes from behind makes her turn, ready to see what her gengar has found for her.

She didn't remember Maddonis being so bad at pong. Selective memory, perhaps. It leaves an amused smile carefully etched on her face. "You sure you tried?" Not that it bothers her, really. It's just that having him wasted before she even has the chance to drink doesn't feel like the most fun of games. She's better, way better, but the decision to take an average person's win feels like a good compromise.

Erin thanks the pokémon returning the small little ball to her hands. She takes aim, and the ball's elliptical trajectory takes it to the rim of another glass, not unlike the one the man threw, except this one's in the very center of his side of the mantine. It bounces and finds its way inside one of his tumblers.

Her smile widens. "First shot. Drink up."

For a moment, she sounds like a young girl again, her words a sing-song melody of their own. A different Erin would cheer at her score. The new one lets the moment pass. Hopefully next time would be her turn. if he took her non-verbal tip.

It's actually an accident that Erin's last remaining safari balls ends up taking in a sunkern. She doesn't like it. She doesn't like what it can do. She doesn't want it. But the ball rolled without much of a destination, or any type of aim for that matter, and it's just their luck that it happens to click open because its heavier part is the center piece.

Oh well. She has nothing to lose. The safari ticket and balls had already been paid for, regardless of whether she used them or not.

A second dratini. On any other day, Erin would have dismissed it under a "First come, first serve," basis, but she's grown bored of this trip to the safari. Perhaps next time she'd have more luck. She lets her gengar whittle down its health until it's hanging by a metaphorical rope. She throws a pokéball and starts making the trek back to the gate.
