Nevermind that the man and two kids were being equally effective at taunting the other, Erin's plan falls through when the pokéballs are removed. A sigh escapes her lips. This was the easy part, too. Now she'd have to make the pokémon faint, as well.

The gengar emerges from its hiding spot under the kids' shadows. The sight and temperature of her star pokémon combined would no doubt be enough to scare the kids. They drop their pokéballs to the ground in the process.

The mudkip and charmander turn, ready to protect their trainers, but are instead met with a

shadow punch

each. The proximity may lure them into attempting a close-combat retaliation, and they'd find the gengar's

cursed body

ability does live up to its name.

Throughout these events, Erin doesn't bother to answer Fisher. She'd rather save herself the headache. "Change of plans. Full-on battle," she instructs. Not like he'd heard the initial plan, regardless.

"Bourbon is for kids." The movement of Erin's shoulders is nonchalant at best, but her lips tell a different tale. She's having fun, too, and the fact is only thinly veiled by her trained body language.

She has no objections, and neither does her throat when she gulps the shot down. The scotch burns, but it's a burning feeling she's grown fond of. The grin on her face may be product of the alcohol, or directed at his goofy pose, or even a bittersweet afterthought.

Her turn again. "Remember when the Duncans' daughter was convinced to sneak out her house for a pool party, just because she thought she could win at beer pong?" She snorts. Her aim suffers from her distracted thoughts, but the ball ultimately falls inside another tumbler. "Let's hope you don't end up like her today."

Erin doesn't miss the startled reaction. She only wishes she could see it better. After a beat, she orders the empoleon to burst the bubble. She hasn't tried this outside the lab before, but if she's to get such reactions every time she does, she'll think about doing it more often.

The stench fills her nostrils again, and the masked man would be left to decipher whether her scrunched nose is caused by him, by his words or by the odor.

"What else would I be doing here?" she all but snaps at him. If his appearance wasn't enough, she also had to deal with his casuistic philosophy and apparent hero complex.

Already she can tell she won't like him. But her sense of responsibility is stronger. "Let's get out of here first, before we get flooded." The 'we' in her sentence is civil, and her words show none of the reluctance she feels about the man. She eyes the direction of the foul water beneath them, and follows it without further words.

Erin stares long and hard at the shinx in front of her. Is it male or is it not? It's hard to tell when the pokémon refuses to stay still or let her look at its hind legs. Finally, she decides it's not worth her time because it's not a shiny shinx either way. With a whistle, her gengar is notified of her decision and the two move on.

taking over one of her berry trees has her taking out her chandelure. A pair of wisp-adorned arms lean forward. The previously contained fire erupts, growing hotter and hotter by the second. In that moment, his posture reminds her of a soldering gun. The shuckle never had a chance.

Athena accompanies her today, on the brink of dozing off while sprawled over her trainer's lap. Petting the vulpix's curls soothes her perhaps as much as it soothes the pokémon.

They make no move to approach the half-dinosaurs, half-frogs. Add another half of plant for a grand of 150%. A sardonic smile grazes her lips. If one of them approached, she'd be happy to attend to them. If not, Erin would be perfectly happy simply enjoying the quiet.

"There are no buttons in the interface," she states matter-of-factly, strategically choosing to ignore every sentence spoken before. Whatever the man's reasons may be for his tantrum, Erin doesn't care. All she wants is to get the mission done by virtue of her skills. Maybe, though most likely not, his as well. After all, there must be some redeemable feature to him if he'd been accepted into Rocket. Maybe.

Just hearing him talk back to the kids makes her want to rub her temples. What she ends up doing is not far off. She closes her eyes, takes a deep breath and decides to make the most out of the situation.

Erin's gaze flies back to her gengar, by now half-hidden in the shadows. After a nod, he's engulfed by the darkness once more, and travels from shadow to shadow until he reaches their targets. Meanwhile, Erin tries to convey with facial gestures an instruction to Fisher: keep them distracted.

The rain has attracted so many frogs it's quite literally a swarm. Not any type of frog, either, but toxic ones. It makes sense, honestly, for toxicity to attract more toxicity. Still, the fact stands that Erin dislikes frogs and their creepy stares.

The umbrella she's holding covers her from the pouring rain, but it doesn't cover the intensified sound that comes from pooled drops falling on the protective gear and then to the ground, on top and all around the reinforced cloth. It's an admittedly cathartic sound. The entire scene would be, if ridden from the toxic frogs and their creepy stares.

This task is so beneath her that Erin is tempted to refuse. She's never cared what her superiors thought, so why should she start caring now? She still doesn't. Teaching the ropes to the new recruit sounds like no more than an excuse. However, in this mission she's given the chance to test her latest update to her porygon2's tracking technology, and as a mission it's simple enough that she doesn't have to worry. Or so she thought. Stealing candy from a couple of kids? Please.

Her hoodie covers any easily recognizable features of hers, and her black jumpsuit gives nothing else away. A gengar hides in the shadows somewhere farther away, while her porygon2 scans the perimeter and renders its findings on her phone. There's a partner she's been assigned, though his own phone displays anything but the map she sees. With a click of her tongue, she orders the porygon2 to override the app on his screen.
