THE STORY SO FAR
SNOWPOINT, SINNOH 1968
[break]
Isabelle Abbiati, the then head priestess of the Snowpoint temple and matriarch of her family, gave birth to her eldest daughter, Diana Abbiati. Isabelle was the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter of a seventh daughter; threefold, just as her own children would be -
so said the prophecy. She is young, eighteen nearing nineteen when she had her first daughter.
[break][break]
There were those who thought it unfit for a
maiden to lead, yet through her bold, ambitious movements throughout the intricate clerical hierarchy and manipulation of her people's unyielding faith Isabelle rose above the rest. She
was the prophecy. The cult was soon charmed to believe as such, and thus, the
Era of Bells begins.
[break][break]
SNOWPOINT, SINNOH 1981
[break]
The rule of Isabelle was one adorned with the dread and despair - as a pandemic ravaged throughout Sinnoh and the rest of the world, the Abbiati secluded themselves within their temple of stone. The once idealistic young maiden had hardened her heart, now coarse and rough from the
salt and wear of leadership. It is during this time the conservative and traditional laws of yore were reimplemented. During such time, Diana, now a blooming teen, served as
handmaiden to her mother as she gave birth to the second daughter, Olivia Abbiati.
[break][break]
A gentle birth, now that Isabelle had matured and experience one child before, was a
mother through and through. She doted and cooed over the babe, inadvertently causing the young handmaiden Diana to resent her younger sister. As a handmaiden, Diana was treated more of a servant than a daughter to Isabelle. They began to grow distant, despite the constant amount of time they spent with one another - Diana
serving her mother and younger sister's every need.
[break][break]
SNOWPOINT, SINNOH 1993
[break]
The
rite of motherhood was expected, and an ancient tradition in which the Abbiati gave thanks to the sea and her blessing of
life. Just as her mother before, she gave birth - but to twins, lovely girls with whip of moonlight gracing their heads. Olivia, too young to serve as a handmaiden or midwife, was over joyed to see the miracle of the rite performed. Isabelle, however, was unaccounted for. She never showed, never provided an answer or excuse. It would appear to her daughters that she, frankly,
did not care.
[break][break]
SNOWPOINT, SINNOH 1994
[break]
All life must return to the sea, to the depths down below in the cold and dark; just as all things must come to an end, so did Isabelle met her own. Both Olivia and Diana had grown to resent their mother as they grew up with the strict and abusive system of their faith. The latter, a woman grown now at twenty four, had shown a great liking to her mother in their shared ambitious spirit - to a
fault even. Olivia was a sheltered girl amongst the others of their temple, but showed a brilliance and thirst that could ne be quenched by the material provided; yet she was chastised for such behavior by her vengeful older sister, Diana, who supervised the young genius.
[break][break]
It as such, the two daughters bore witness to the birth of the last of their sacred sisterhood, Pallas Abbiati. Isabelle, their
revered mother, died during this particularly difficult home birth. There were - are - whispers that Diana's
absence in assisting the midwives could have proven a previous
mistake. Such rumors and lies of the
new high priestess were quickly silenced. In fact, Diana proved more conservative than her mother, tightening the already restrictive lives of the Abbiati. Whilst the infant was taken to the nursery, Olivia held her mother's hand as Diana began to implant her authority, her
coup. It is in that moment Olivia's distaste and distrust for both her sisters, who in her eyes, killed their mother, truly began along with the
Era of the Moon.
[break][break]
SNOWPOINT, SINNOH 2000
[break]
Olivia was clever, beyond that which her older sister and those of the temple thought. In secret, she studied. Not only the holy text of the sea, but secular text that were kept from the disciples. To keep them ignorant, docile even, to Diana's iron fist. Her knowledge grew alongside her flowering desires of that of a teenager: the mysteries and allure of love called to her. Olivia knew how to keep secret and quiet, invisible to the ever present eye that was
Diana of the Moon, the title she bestowed upon herself from ages past. Olivia would sneak out, late in the night, and ride the waves in the moon's light. She would soon
earn her own title, from her first love: the
Wave Watcher.
[break][break]
She who watched tides rise and fall, like the moon's decent and the dawn's break, would soon bear witness to her own tides of fate abruptly
change. Olivia was
pregnant, before her time due as dictated by the rite of motherhood, or as it was known now, the
rite of the full moon. Pleading, begging to Diana to keep this bastard of lust and sin quiet. In her own eyes, the solution was simple; and so, Diana explained simply to
rid herself of the child: how or when was up to Olivia, who Diana deemed fit as Olivia had made her bed, she would sleep in it.
[break][break]
The youngest, Pallas, was but a child five years young; yet, her life of torment and abuse was just beginning. Olivia, shut in and sheltered away from the rest of her kin within the tallest towers of the temple had none but Pallas for company. The poor girl was criticized and neglected by her older sister, who was heavy with child. Despite this apparent hatred, it was all the child had known from her family. So when Olivia's time came, and Diana was no where to be found, Pallas set alarm to the entire temple by
flooding the bathroom and tub at Olivia's command - water rushed and the clergy appeared en masse at the mess to witness the
river of blood and the
cries of a newborn.
[break][break]
SNOWPOINT, SINNOH 2002
[break]
The bastard was a boy, an omen of misfortune for the new mother Olivia her sister Diana proclaimed. As all men of the Abbiati are, he was sent away;
far, far away. The boy's father gladly took the coin provided by the clergy to keep quiet of such a breach in tradition, and keep the child out of the region and away from the sorrowful mother. Olivia
grieved, despaired over her stolen son. She knew it wrong to think such, to hurt so much for a bastard of lust... but he was so much more to her. A babe
born of love rather than order and duty as was expected.
[break][break]
To prove herself a true Abbiati, Diana decreed Olivia must partake of the
rite of the full moon, as all their people had for generations. Reluctant and depressed, a
hollowness filled her heart and being, she obeyed - and once more proved a
failure in the eyes of Diana and her followers.
Shamed, shunned, and broken Olivia was unfit to raise this child and was but a phantom of her the former bright young self as they took her second child away to be raised gods' know where.[break][break]
SNOWPOINT, SINNOH 2008
[break]
Disgraced, Olivia fled the only home she ever knew to the world of academia. There, freed from the
shackles of her eldest sister, she thrived. The young woman made strides in anthropology, myths, and legends; none of which she would have been able to do without the cruel childhood she dreaded. After completing her doctorate in anthropology, Olivia then pursued the Sinnoh League, completing seven of eight badges. Having conquered the ice gym of Candice she returned to the Snowpoint temple after nearly a decade away, and she found it near
ruin.
[break][break]
Diana may have held power whilst Olivia was there for her to compare to, the high priestess of the Abbiati could only watch in horror as their logistics began to crumble. Their temple was ancient, her people falling ill, and funds running low. When Olivia returned with
renown, knowledge, and power in hand with a promise to fix the wrongs her sister had wrought; well, what choice was there to be had? Olivia gave Diana until the end of the decade to get things in shape while she completed the Sinnoh circuit and her research.
[break][break]
All the while, Pallas embraced their cult of water far beyond the minor mysteries and arcana of either Diana or Olivia. Unlike her two sisters, or the mother she never knew, Pallas lacked ambition and was solely and purely utterly devout. She was, growing up treated as a curse, humble. Quiet. Out of sight, and out of mind, but always praying to the
Dweller of the Depths.
[break][break]
SNOWPOINT, SINNOH 2010
[break]
True to her word, Olivia returned to Snowpoint after besting the Elite Four and the reigning Champion, Cynthia. She politely
refused the title, of course, for there was one waiting for her back home. The transition of power was swift and easy; for the black sheep had returned with power and a wealth of knowledge that she could use to modernize and bring their family to greatness once more. Diana remained high priestess, Olivia allowed her to retain that, but she? Well Olivia was
coronated, Queen of Salt and Stone; and the
Era of the Crown was set into motion.
[break][break]
SNOWPOINT, SINNOH 2012
[break]
At long last, Pallas was ready for the
rite of the full moon, the
rite of motherhood, or as Olivia called it: the
trial by blood. To the dismay and disgust by all the pregnancy was difficult,
deadly. The child was lost, and with it, Pallas' blind light of unyielding faith and the future of the youngest sister once saw was shattered.[break][break]
SOOTOPOLIS, HOENN EARLY 2019
[break]
Using the connections she had made with the outside world, and a proper university education, Olivia brought funds and knowledge to her people. They thrived as their clampearl sales boomed alongside Olivia's own revenue from books, lectures, and other academic work she had pursed since completing the Sinnoh circuit and obtaining her docterate. Diana remained discontented, plotting for the failure of her younger sister, while Pallas floated through the chilled halls of the temple like a ghost; lost to a world of grief.
[break][break]
An opportunity presented itself, one that would see the Abbiati finally returned to their home of Sootopolis in Hoenn - their regional League was in need of a gym leader. Misplacing her trust into Diana to manage the day to day activities of their clan, Olivia went to Hoenn to claim leadership and a second coronation. She succeeded in the former, quickly reclaiming their family's ancient lands and rebuilding a castle of spires that had only ever been described in text and faded murals from long ago along side her trusted gym trainer,
Balder Schwartz. Silver Spire grew along Olivia's ambition as she rose from a gym leader, handing it off to Balder, to council member of the Hoenn League, solidifying her power in eastern Hoenn.
[break][break]
SLATEPORT, HOENN LATE 2019
[break]
Olivia continues as the sole Abbiati in Hoenn as she fights off mutated tentacruel and explores the now finished Silver Spire - both
the ancient and new.
Unbeknownst to her, the second bastard now known as River Montgomery, joined Rocket in an attempt to
retaliate against the mother who never wanted him. The
spiteful second son used his Pokemon at Rocket's bidding and his own whims. His path and goals are like a one track trail in his mind, always rushing forward; which, in their
own twisted way, is the clear trait of the signature Abbiati ambition.
[break][break]
Meanwhile, as part of the Hoenn council, Olivia begins to establish
support and
funding for a new initiative. Its goals remained lofty and vague, as Olivia was still unsure as to how best propose it to the rest of the council. Until such a time, she simply referred to it as the
AQUA initiative.
[break][break]
EVER GRANDE, HOENN EARLY 2020
[break]
Following the terrifying ordeal that would be known as the
New Year's Incident, Olivia summoned the Hoenn Council, Head Ranger, and the Commissioner to a meeting. It is now that she proposes the AQUA initiative to them all as a special ops team that would tackle the growing invasion of Ultra Beast and the mysterious Avatars - Balder Schwartz, avatar of Solgaleo, in particular following his denouncement of Olivia.[break][break]
Another Abbiati makes her presence known, as the young
fragile girl, Celeste Abbiati. Like her cousin, she too joined Rocket, but with a
crystal clear mind set on proving herself as capable and powerful on her own: the
bright shining ambition of an Abbiati shining through the pale skinned
silver haired twin of Slateport. Celeste pursued missions and orders by diving her own path to greatness and continues to
prove a valuable asset for Rocket.
[break][break]
Then there is Simeon of slateport, a son who was meant to be outcast - yet the family was incredibly
short on staff as the Slateport branch suffered terribly considering their
poverty stricken stance. A son was free labor, and stripped of the family name, he was
raised to serve. Now, he does so, awaiting an order from a
family that denies him.
[break][break][break]
ORIGIN
The Abbiati are an ancient house from Hoenn during the primordial times. It is then that they developed their belief system and way of life - by the sea. Sootopolis is the first recorded homeland for the family of priestess and healers, shamans and trainers; perhaps even royalty at a time, given their sigil. Yet, despite all of this, their power waned.[break][break]
As the sea became more of a tool than a sacred space, the more tradition was left to rot. It was this rotting that broke the Abbiati in two branches. There were those that remained in Hoenn, but fled Sootopolis to find safety from
something in Slateport, and lived there as minor magicians and con artists until the name meant little more than wet sand underneath one's feet.[break][break]
Then there were the Abbiati who fled to the mighty Sea and found themselves swept up into a storm, and eventually, in the ice-capped waters of Snowpoint in Sinnoh. Here, the religion developed even further and their beliefs flourished, undisturbed for generations.
[break][break]
FAITH
[break][break][break]
I sing of Manaphy, whose shafts are of aquamarine, who cheers on the Phione, the pure maiden, watcher of evil, who delights in safeguarding the righteous.[break][break]
Over the shadowy trenches and swirling peaks she draws her blue bow, rejoicing in the chase, and sends out grievous shouts.[break][break]
The goddess with a bold heart turns every way bringing death to those who would defile the sea beast.[break][break]
When Lugia is satisfied and has cheered her heart, this huntress who delights in hurricanes slackens her supple wings.[break][break]
Hail to you, Kyogre, sister of the Ground-shaker, the virgin who delights in life, child of Arceus and silver-gilded moon! [break][break]
Of you first I sing and with you I begin; now that I have begun with you, I will end this song.[break][break]
[break][break]
Natives of the island continent, as across the world, began to worship the great and powerful pokemon of yore, legendary beast who roamed the ancient lands and through miracles and despair in equal parts. To the tanned silver haired Abbiati, measly fishermen it was the sea and her bounty that took their interest and heart. For it was the sea, and her gifts, that allowed the Abbiati to survive - and then, generations later, they began to befriend and breed water pokemon. It was this relationship with the sea that proved to be the true awakening of their cult.[break][break]

ABBIATI OF SLATEPORT
With their fall, whether it be from grace or terror, the Abbiati fled to another seaside city - Slateport. Here, they tried to begin anew. Their faith was serious at first, yet, as generations passed, the Abbiati of Slateport began to fall to the corruption of the city. Their beliefs became games and cons, stripping those who came to them for blessings and test of faith of their coin to aide their crumbling house. [break][break]

ABBIATI OF SNOWPOINT
Like a flowing river, the Abbiati branched off to far and distant lands; yet, stumbling to the city of snow in the frigid north was not on purpose, or at least by their own hand. Tales of a great storm that wracked and thundered the very sea itself is said to have blown the Abbiati to Snowpoint long, long ago. Here, they sought shelter in an ancient temple and it was here, in the temple of stone that the Abbiati continued their customs. In fact, their religious fervor was reinvigorated. These Abbiati believed it was by the grace of their gods that they survived that terrible storm and found the temple they would soon come to guard and live in. [break][break]
